The official Twitter account for Kadokawa's Fantasia Bunko light novel imprint announced on Saturday that Seiji Ebisu's Ore ga Suki nano wa Imōto dakedo Imōto ja nai (The One I Love is My Little Sister But She's Not a Little Sister) light novel series
Plot:
The "awkward sibling romantic comedy" series centers around the younger sister Suzuka Nagami and the older brother Yū Nagami. Suzuka is a beautiful third-year middle school student who has excellent grades and is the student council president. She wrote a novel about a little sister who dotes on her older brother, and the the novel wins a light novel award. After they discuss the matter, Yū is the one who debuts as a proxy light novel author instead of Suzuka, under the pen name Chikai Towano.

First, before I say anything else, I just want to know...
Is the Sister Princess part newly voiced and drawn? Because I'm pretty sure at least half of their VAs have retired already.
And the endcard is newly drawn or old? Because there are credits on the card, so I think they got permissions to use an old artwork.
Edit: No wait, this anime's character is in the artwork, so that means this is new?! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! !!
Oh, and they even included the anime-original "sister".
Man, that is such a blast from the past. It was like "OHHH MY GOOOODDDDD, THEIR ORIGINAL VOICES TOWWWWOOOOOOO!!!!"
Anyways, why do light novels these days (there actually is another one today!) all end up being self-gratifying wish fulfillment? This is why I can't have high hopes in the first place before even watching them.
However, I have to admit. This was so bad, I actually kinda enjoyed it.
I mean, look at the animation quality of this first episode. The only properly drawn scene was when the younger sister shifted her foot around, which is kinda a weird choice to put time into but also a good choice.
And hey, I have to admit the Sister Princess part is good.
So yeah, it is very bad. But it actually is kinda funny to watch unlike the other anime this day, so I'm going to continue for now.
And maybe the quality will get even worse, which will be something to look forward to.

I actually thought this was pretty fun, pretty decent. I went into this expecting utter trash, but was pleasantly surprised. I thought they handled the premise rather well.

Yeah, to me it looked kind of weird the way his face looked. His eyes seemed kind of stiff (similar to eyes in still artwork).
I liked how they stuck her in the Sister Princess artwork at the end there. I remember those art poses. I still have production/pencil board artwork from the series.
Was caught by the Sister Princess reference also but the setup was too cliche for me. Is there really anything new they can add to make this worth watching?

I didn't really see all that much problem with the animation, but I'll admit the story was a little heavy for me. I loved Eromanga Sensei (I know I'm a minority in that), but this is a little overdone. I've seen series with obsessive little sisters that I liked well enough, but in those the girl doesn't keep things in the closet, she directly engages in extreme attempts to jump her brother's bones. Here, it's like it's trying to play all the cards and not going far enough with any of them. She's not able to go to the necessary levels of tsun or even simple shyness due to her stalker brain, but she tries to pull it off and works hard enough at it that she's also unable to actually make any freaky moves on him. Too dere to tsun, too tsun to dere. I'll still give it a few episodes but at the least I don't see it reaching the quality of other sister series I've seen.

It's usually not this hard to find enough redeeming qualities for the MC to at least give the show a few episodes. But the more time passed in the first episode the more worthless the guy became.
Not that the little is lacking issues. But rather than the main plot of this show I think the MC needs to stop and re-examine his life a bit. At least being a figure-head for his sister's creations is making himself useful in some way. Also what exactly is either of their plans if he does by some miracle gain the ability to write a decent novel on his own? Is his sister going to retire from writing herself? Plus he's just been going around pretending to be someone else...

I got the impression he feels really awkward and doesn't know what to do around her, largely as a result of some unknown past event that he believes resulted in her harboring a deep hatred toward him. Add this belief that she loathes him with his being currently overworked and exhausted with his LN attempt, and it sort of figures he'd slip up when it comes to some courtesies.
And no, I doubt she intends to quit when he succeeds in publishing. Why the heck would she? She only needs to keep it a secret until the end of the school year, and chances of him actually publishing something and making it seriously successful that quickly is slim. But once he does gain his own fame the intent seems to be that they'll come out and reveal how and why he'd pretended to be the author and then they'd each take credit for their own work.

Nothing. As the endcard said, they just brought in a legendary "sister" series because this one is about a sister too.
And from what I could check, it seems all of the voices are actually newly recorded? Wow indeed.

But getting back to this show, man, the art is so terrible and inconsistent (I wonder if the budget was blown on the seiyuus for SisPri lol). Even the plot is so totally 'imouto' story cliched. That said, I'm glad Suzuka didn't look as lolified as the first visual made her look, and it's still endearing seeing her fawn over her brother secretely. After all before I was an osananjimi shipper, I was really fascinated by bro-sis incest, and only after Kana Imouto did I abruptly change (ironic isn't it?).
In any case, it's not hard for me to root for Suzuka since there doesn't seem to be a childhood friend rival. I mean, that red head chick looks to be another writer (since she was at the writer awards ceremony) and the artist looks to be a foreigner, and neither has shown any recognition of the MC. And if the title is to be believed, Suzuka is a 'fake sister' like Mitsuki from Unlimited Fafnir (among others), so close enough I guess?
The biggest surprise though? Ogura Yui is NOT voicing an imouto-like character, because as with Aoi Yuuki, they're typically typecasted into the role. Who would have thought, especially in an imouto show no less. XD

First off, I'm not sure whether he's saying she is his sister but isn't (like EMS), or that she's his little sister but she's not an "imouto character". He seems convinced that she doesn't fit the imouto character the editors are telling him to insert as a grabber, so I suspect that's it.
As for Yui Ogura, I was thinking the exact same thing. I've seen her in non-imouto characters, but I don't believe I've seen her until now in any non-loli characters. Nice to see she's able to pull that off.

To me at least it clear he had low self esteem because of all the time he had fail at writing novel and how his sister can do basely everything. The only path I can see this series going is a complete falling out with his sister. There that unknown problem in the past between them. Also the fact his sister wrote for the first time ever and right after won. There also the Editor who will continue to say how awesome and talented his sister is and most likely ever one else.
There even stuff pointing toward the fact that parents may of play favorite with his sister.
This can only lead to the main character finally breaking at some point.You can only take so must before you break.

I repeatedly watched the scenes many times.
It had me ROFL whenever i thought about it.
My first impressions of these two are that, they might be in an whole new level.
Yuu already felt the editor is "dangerous".
Suzuka, and the red-haired girl from the same school won't stand a chance.
The name Ahegao Double Peace, it really makes me laugh when the editor said "Ahegao Double Peace Sensei", it is when she says it.
It would have been more funny if the things are done to Suzuka than Yuu.
I mean putting his/her hand on its chest just because that kind of first meeting with whoever you are going to work in the future.
They are not seriously doing that to Suzuka, won't they?
Put aside the "Imouto" genre, the "Ecchi" genre alone in this series is still too "dangerous".
I'll take the fun with the series and just let go of what i don't like.

Holy crap, that animation is so bad. You could tell the VAs are doing their best to be lively, but the stone-faced expressions just doesn't line up with the voice acting and it's really jarring to see. And the eyes man, the eyes! They are frighteningly creepy, especially with them being so big and not blinking. Makes me think this is a horror story lol

Yeah, the faces really didn't look right here. Even the expressions looked completely off, sort of stuck in one expression no matter what they're supposed to feel. Particularly looked off while Yuu was first talking with Mai on the rooftop. The look and the conversation just didn't match up at all.

Anyway, too bad this isn't, at least currently, far enough to reach the "so bad it's good" area. Probably good for a cringefest, especially for people with animation experience, but not much else.
I'm only watching this for Ahegao-sensei(not really, it's a bit better than the last few imouto anime I've seen).
But seriously stop showing that flashback of her crying already before we get more details, it's annoying :/.

At this point I have no clue what this production company is trying to do. Getting people to drop it like a rock? I'm waiting for the first BD release and won't watch anything further. This is just horrible to see. First it was funny but the funny part turned into irritation.
I'm very disapointed, it's not like imouto anime are being aired each season, they are quite rare. And for once we get one and they butchered it up quite heavily. Especially when the source material is quite good. Ahh well I hope they at least try to do a better job on the BD but at this point I fear they will do a horrible job even there. :heh:

One of the few difference i see between them is one character is competant as a writer and life, and other one isn't.
I did have a good laugh out of this episode though.
But really, no students in Suzuka's school would seriously think that she is all over Yuu at this point.

Well for one thing, in Eromanga Sensei, the romance is between stepsiblings who have absolutely no prior sibling bonds, and whose parents died almost immediately after marrying, making the definition of "sibling" tenuous at best, more a matter of a desire of two lonely orphans to have a family, while in this one as far as I can tell they're blood-related and grew up together. With Eromanga Sensei one could easily argue that their love is not a matter of brother/sister complex but rather simple love complicated by other people's actions, whereas this is indubitably brocon. I would probably be quite willing to support the relationship between Masamune and Sagiri, but not these two. It's much closer to OreImo in my opinion.

*sigh* If you have the ability to understand enough Japanese to use a Japanese site as a source, then I'd hope you have the ability to at least learn the infamous sites in the Japanese community, right?

I think the derp faces has never been worst this episode.
That being said, the actual stuff happening in this episode was pretty funny.
The imouto dates was fine, but the radio show bit was very awkward and I just skipped past it.

So, anyone have any clue why the title of the series is what it is? Usually in things like this, it kinda hints towards the main heroine, but I'm confused because it basically a contradiction, unless it refers to Sakura (who he technically just denied sort of)
None of the characters seem to fit the bill

Well, at least Yu is man enough to protect Sakura-san from a stalker... and it's amazing Sakura was able to live with a psycho siscon brother for so long.
The reason I liked this anime is it's more like an ecchi version of Sister Princess to which I'm totally a fan of -- I started being an anime fan with Sister Princess. Which is why I can forgive all the bad animation and derpy faces in this anime. :)

Okay, I have to say, it was surprisingly fun to watch.
There are a few reasons
1. The random, incredibly bad quality
2. The occasional super-jumps in quality (almost all scenes are fanservice scenes)
3. It doesn't take itself seriously. It doesn't try to be anything more than it is, doesn't try to be smart. All of the characters are super-wacky and because of that, it is kinda fun to watch.
Of course, it isn't anything special and the quality is incredibly low, so I have to give it a slightly low score. But it was fun to watch, indeed.
Oh, and the anime gets the best loli-nipple shot of the season. Heck, it was the best one I've seen this year, maybe. Phew, that was good.

Very glad this is over now and only 10 ep long, this started off great and I really enjoyed it but just kept getting worse and worse.
Very disappointed how it dropped off so much.
Ahego Double Peace = worst girl this season, she was a complete idiot, I hated her character and needed to turn the volume down 90% whenever she spoke, her voice was probably the most annoying I have ever heard.
2nd worst girl this season is shared by everyone else in this show.

Nice way to solve the issue. Sakura's brother is the final "villain" of the show. I had the feeling that he was connected to Sakura, because he was gawking at the radio show the previous episode. Real imouto won the contest.. yay! And as expected, she will be studying in onichan's school. Friends come to show support when onichan is in trouble. Overall.. this was a decent experience... part of my enjoyment in this anime is because Sister Princess is one of my gateway to the anime world, and it's the main reason I could forgive the bad animation style.. and too much fanservice.
A high 7/10. Thank you imouto for reminding me of Sister Princess.

Kind of interesting that im seeing series like how siblings of brothers and sisters work in a similar fields such as manga, anime and light novel.
I admit that Sakura's brother was actually this character was an interesting twist.
Makes me wonder about Sakura though, in the beginning of this arc, she told her manager?
That she is going to spend a night in her friend's house.
So how did her brother knew that Sakura's friend is actually a Light Novel Author, and not just a friend of hers?
Suzuka, how can she rush to a conclusion that she has no hope just because of a female's love confession towards her big brother?
Is it clear that Suzuka will avoid Yuu even though he said no to Sakura?
Maybe it is because Sakura's confession gave Suzuka too much impact?
Yuu simply had to say, he turned down on Sakura though, and did not have to say it was a misunderstanding.
