Saw this on Twitter but multiple sources reports that Overlord is getting a fourth season.
One of them is ryokutya2089 who is very reliable source.

Please please please........ do Season 4 with a better team & bigger budget...... coz, my God, Season 3 was pretty underwhelming.
I guess this isn't too surprising.

It's very likely that Madhouse will still animate it and the staff will be more or less the same as the first three seasons with some shuffling depending on the season. Kadokawa will produce this as usual but whether or not the production values will turn alright will wait and see when the PVs and first few episodes will come out.
I'm personally more concerned about the story. It's gotten stale at this point. Wasn't there some drama about the author himself having gotten bored with the series and wanting to stop?

I was wondering if this would ever happen so this announcement isn't surprising

There goes my hope. It's practically the same team again *sigh*

You can hope they were given more time now. Quality is mainly not about the money but about the time constrains.

You can hope they were given more time now. Quality is mainly not about the money but about the time constrains. It also depends on "who is doing the work". Like, say, the team who worked on Arslan for example. There, I could see that their animation suffered from not enough time & resources. On the other hand, I've never seen any great potential from this particular Madhouse-team ever since Overlord season 1. The Overlord anime is basically saved by the characters & story so far.

Aslan was better story for me and they held mass fights better IMHO. Though, it is a personal preference (to bad, they have not finished the first story arc, they just needded like 5 eps tp do it).
I stopped watching Overlord after MC went full on evil route.

I watched it, but without any particular interest. But I guess it’s because first season completely pissed me off during the battle against Yuuki Aoi-voiced villain (don’t remember the name), when they spent five minutes of screen time just to gloat
"Do you know who I am?"
"Do YOU know who I am?!"
"I don’t know you and I don’t care to know you. Meanwhile, I am cool and you are lame"
"No, I am cool and you are lame"
I honestly wanted to scream.
And we are getting a movie for two volumes so guys keep you expectations low for season 4 I'm just saying.
They could use crayons to animate season 4 and I'd still be excited for it, as this is one of my favorite series of all time :heh:

The Holy Kingdom arc was full of thoroughly unlikable characters... Not sure how excited to be.

The first episode of every season has always been on the lighter side of things and this is no different, with the usual staple like Albedo hijinks, maids following Ainz around all the time and ending up crying at some point, and of course everyone telling Ainz how supreme he is :heh:
The highlight for me would have to be Fith climbing to the roof to follow Ainz, The maid before her just had to sit with Ainz inside his room while Fith had to climb buildings to follow him around :heh:
I didn't know there was a plot reason as to why Pestonya didn't appear after season 2, and Ainz even mentioned a new NPC that would probably appear at some point, no idea about the significance of the mention of that NPC though.
All in all I never dreamed that we'd get a 4th season of this at all, I was very happy when s3 was announced but getting a 4th season is like finding an extra chicken nugget when you thought they're all gone :heh:
