Eh sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough, the girls do all still have a crush on the MC (and some for ridiculous reasons). I was emphasizing that "dense hero who gets an unwanted harem just by virtue of working alongside them" is now the norm as opposed to "actual romantic or even friendly interactions with multiple girls".

Personally I believe getting a 'good' romance is pretty much impossible with a harem story. You can't develop the characters enough, and they often devolve into the girls bickering and/or throwing themselves at the MC (nvm the ecchi stuff). So the VAST majority of them come off as bland, unbelievable, one dimensional caricatures due to the lack of depth (you can also pretty much pick what types of characters will be in the harem too, rendering them all more or less the same). You might get the occasional interesting character, but it's the exception not the rule. Honestly I'd think most stories that happen to be harem would have done better with the romance removed or if it was limited to a simple pairing (with maybe one rival, if you must have drama) to focus the story and keep it from getting lost. But yeah, if it wasn't obvious, I tend to avoid harem stuff - unless the underlying story is exceptional and the harem stupidity isn't the focus.

To be fair, that's only the case if it's not an actual harem. Look at Highschool DxD. Sure, there's a shit ton of ecchi stuff, and the girls do bicker and throw themselves at Issei, but he's also aiming to become a harem king, so the girls are really just bickering over first rites and pecking order, but they do develop rather nicely. And he has a legit reason for not going hog wild (though the anime hasn't gotten to the point where it's outright stated why this is the case).

As for Rail Wars... yeah, I wouldn't recommend it. It's not awful, but I wouldn't even call it average. Okay, it's awful.

Totally worth it though. Most sane people realise that there is a very small chance you will have a reaction to a vaccination and most of the time that is medically proven before you have it done to you, if not the side effects are never usually that bad.

There's some people who can't be vaccinated for medical reasons (say for examplle that poor kid in America who has leukemia and his dad is kicking up a fuss for the school to get everyone else vaccinated to protect his son and give him a normal life) and that's fine, but for others there's no excuse.
