Proof that I'm not normal when it comes to who I would like to marry:

1. Nodoka Miyazaki (Negima). Save for the whole age thing (hey, I can wait three years), she's the perfect idea of what I would like to have for a wife: uber-kawaii, kind-hearted, and brave enough to help others in need.

2. Mika (Doki Doki School Hour). 27-year old teacher with a body of an elementary school girl (one that's small enough to fit in a sports bag) definitely puts her on my marry list.

3. Cherry (Saber Marionette J). A kawaii female android who is not only a good cook, but is also able to kick some ass. What's not to love about that.

methinks some people's view of "perfect wife" would become boring after a while ("whatever you want to do is fine, Husband" "o let me do that, Husband" "I worship the ground you stand on, Husband" gets really old unless you're easily entertained)

Let's see, Shuffle's Nerine came to mind mostly because she's freaking smart, but I shall say my primary choice is still Motoko Aoyama from Love Hina. Smart, athletic, graceful, loyal, fierce -- and a quite stubborn lass. She's been my preferred character since I started this silly hobby.

Runner ups other than Nerine would be Hagino from Canvas 2 (mostly because she's hilarious company rather than looks), Haruhi from SHnY (lots of energy to keep up with but never a dull moment), .... a few others but, in general, I prefer quirky over "perfect"....

take suigintou for example...i find her perfect besides from the fact that she was missing her lower parts and is prone to killing without warning...okey and the fact that shes a doll but in dont care :heh:

but take a real human...yakumo...oh man how much i love her and to me shes also perfect ;)
but to others her unique attitude might be annoying...hence the contrast with eri ~ dam she would make one good housewife :heh:

Nerine (Shuffle!) - Nerine is a very intelligent, perceptive and inquisitive young lady, plus she has a gentle, quiet and polite demeanor that I find very alluring. She is definitely attractive physically - nothing short of gorgeous IMO - and since I have a pronounced weakness for petite women... and lovely ears... and.... ahem, now where was I? Her main weakness is her cooking skills, but I'm a pretty good cook myself so that would not be a hardship. Besides, given Nerine's personality, I can't imagine her remaining a poor cook for long. She has a strong desire to improve herself, and would keep practicing until she was able to do it to everyone's satisfaction (an attitude that holds delightful promise for other activities as well). Lastly, Nerine simply has an intangible something that attracted me to her like no other female in anime had before or has since. There are lots of cute/pretty/sexy/etc. girls in anime, but for me Nerine remains alone at the top.

Other ladies I have to mention:

Kousaka Tamaki (ToHeart 2) - Tama-nee's physical attributes are well documented, but she is also very smart and talented in many areas. She's a tomboy at heart, but can also present herself as a genteel and classically refined lady of quality when she wishes to do so. Never underestimate the value of a spouse who can flawlessly host a formal tea ceremony and also apply a dose of "iron claw" to annoying individuals.

Kurosawa Minamo (Azumanga Daioh) - "Nyamo" is another lady whose allure I can't quite define. The students like her and confide in her, so she obviously scores highly for trust, common sense and reliability. She has a "girl next door" wholesome beauty about her. But I just feel that she would be a wonderful partner for someone who appreciated what she has to offer.

Aoba Kozue (Mahoraba ~heartful days~) - Sweet, gentle and caring, lovely to behold, and gifted with strong domestic skills. I love sour umeboshi, and she's willing to share. Plus, if you like variety, Kozue is a "harem ending" all by herself.

Ok, let's see. *looks favorites list... choices choices... Let's see... Which of my favorites would be nice to have for a wife? Hmm...

As I'm notorious in some parts because of my dedication, I have to place Kaede from Shuffle as my first choice. The school princess, pretty, smart, focused on a goal, extremely devoted and loyal to the point of self-destruction, can do everything around the house, and goes out of her way to please the one she loves :naughty: . And her psychic powers are a force to be reckoned with (not to mention making Rambo wet his pants if he gets on her bad side). Yeah... I feel cherished and protected :p Or should it be the other way around?

Kirino from Gift is a pretty close match, too. She shares pretty much all of Kaede's qualities, although she's not so lethal, unless she happens to also run the mob, in which case prepare to beg for death :p Of course, as is the case with Kaede, if you're nice to her and don't break her heart, you have but bliss waiting for you :D

A really close third is THE Moe-megami Asahina Mikuru from SHnY herself. This divinely cute girl breathes and bleeds moe. Damn, every cell in her body must be made of moe. You just HAVE to hug and protect her from this cruel world. It's your duty. Nature and Haruhi demand! Not to mention she makes an incredible cup of tea and looks gorgeous in ANY cosplay costume (yes, even a frog costume). I bet she can make one hell of a meal, too. She doesn't betray her organization, and there's no way you'll get information out of her. The best you'll get is a heart-melting wink following with a "classified information". Hmm... Maybe we should ask more often. Well, in any case, she's someone you can really depend on.

Aisia from DaCapo Second Season. An idealist to the point of naivete (I so love these people), her sheer dedication to bring happiness to everyone is admirable. Her child-like innocence is also a plus. She's a good magician, too (no, don't laugh, watch the whole thing :p).

Since they've grown up as of StrikerS and while I'm more of a Nanoha fan, I think I'd fit better with Fate Testarossa. I mean, Nanoha seems too hyper at times for my taste, while Fate is reserved and shy, somewhat melancholic, but also a fierce fighter, a combination I really like. Did I mention how she's extremely devoted to the people she loves? :p

If she were human (and a good load taller :p), I'd be honored to have Shinku from Rozen Maiden (after the second season please) as my wife. Although I suppose this brings the weight of house chores on my shoulders, Shinku's ojou-sama qualities (elegant, smart, composed, regal) coupled with her immense sweetness and inner strength are a mix not of this world. Clearly... this IS Alice.

Although I wouldn't have much of a problem being paired to my other favorites, I think those are as close as it can get for now.

Nope, because a favourite character isn't necessarily someone you'd wish to spend your life with. Example: One of my favourite characters is Kyon from SHnY. Would I want to marry him? Hardly. Sleep with him? Uh, no. Live with him? Possibly, but only as friends. Yes i'm male and heterosexual, hence my answers :)

So yeah, I think we should keep 'favourite' and 'want to get jiggy with/ marry' firmly seperate :heh:

This is a non-question for me. Absolutely certainly, Tsukamoto Yakumo from School Rumble. Shy, yet smart and even assertive when she needs to be. She always puts the needs of others before her own, yet she's still very human in many respects. And she's incredibly beautiful. Slender, graceful and no one of her features stand out or take away from the others. Well, except her eyes. They're so captivating. And her smile on those rare occassions that we get to see it. She would be, in my opinion, an absolutely perfect partner to share my life with.

As bad as this probably is going to sound... ideally I'd want a girl who I could maintain a good relationship with even if I'm not spending all or even most of my free time with her. Let's face it, I'm an hardcore anime fan, gamer, fanfiction writer, and computer hardware enthusiast. My hobbies are time and money pits and while I do like having a social life, I dislike having one that strongly interferes with these hobbies.

One of my better choices would definately be Yuki Nagato... I think she's the kind of person who enjoys being around people part of the time but also appreciates some time to herself. It would be a kind of messed up, almost part time relationship, but I think it would work. Plus, I like interesting people and I think learning about Yuki would be fascinating. And she's got tons of useful skills too (heck, forget fanfiction... she could probably help make me make an Oblivion-killer RPG). The fact that I find her mannerisms really hot for some reason helps too. Admit it, you're curious what it would be like getting jiggy with a data alien. Only downside is a lack of furry ears.

(Yuki and Haruhi are actually the only anime characters I've had show up in a dream. Unforunately, it was a PG level dream.)

Second choice would probably be Ohno from Genshiken. Some crossover interests, so even if I'm involved in my hobbies a lot she probably wouldn't mind (it's like that guy I meet on a computer forum who's wife recently let him buy a $600+ video card... for HER gaming PC. He has a card that's maybe worth $100-150 in his own PC.)... and it might be possible to convince her to cosplay certain... things. Furry ears are no problem here, as long as I'm willing to accept fake ones.

Of course, I could probably adjust to have a normal (read: non-otaku) girlfriend too as long as I got a bit of alone time and therefore, I theoretically could score with a girl with really furry ears. Need to think about that one.

Since I'm still single, I guess this means my cooking is at least passable, if nothing special. But what that also means is, I've got quite a different idea from most of you when it comes to what an "ideal wife" is...namely, I haven't got one even at my age. There are anime characters who I'd love to be romantically involved with (See my Nanaha avatar). But when I think of "Wife", I tend to take it more seriously.

There's something else I recall, comes from a moive, that goes: "She is not perfect. You are not perfect. What is important is if you are perfect for each other." Being Husband or Wife means more than just romance or sexuality, or even the willingness to have children with another person. Emotions shall come and go, the way you feel for someone today may not be the same thing as what you or they will feel tomorrow. However, marriage as in husband and wife (and potentially as father and mother) will not go away the next day, or week, or month. You decide to make a long-term committment to another person for life.

It may be because I'm from a relatively conservative upbringing (blame the Catholics), and the fact that I don't approve of divorce, but...I found that it takes more than just love to keep two people together after a long time. Many things factor in: Will the person you're with always feel this way? Will the person you're with change? Even after your love is gone, after they've turned old, gray, with wrinkles, lost all of their physical beauty, can you realistically say you want this or that person to be your husband or wife?

When you marry someone, you have to accept the bad as well as the good. You have to accept that the girl or boy you want to be with has certain habits, traits, or other little quirks that you will eventually find one day and find that you can't stand it (Trust me, something as insignificant as leaving the toilet seat up becomes ABSOLUTELY ANNOYING once you face it every single day). I notice many of you say Kaede or Nyu or whoever, -except- their "psycho" personalities. That's not a fine way to finding someone you want to live the rest of your life with.

You have to share in it, all the bad and all the good. Sorrows and joy. Your wife or husband isn't someone you can attend to part-time. Yes, both of you need your personal space. But you also have to know when you need each other.

I believe in the sanctity of marriage, which is why I can't just answer. But if I did find an anime character I could marry, trust me, I'd be surprised if she was someone I'd like romantically--in fact, I think it's highly likely that the type of girl I'd want to marry is someone I could see more as a friend than a lover. Someone whom I could get along with even after years of being with them, even after the romance and sexuality have gone.

Love is too fickle an emotion to be the sole reason for marriage.

Personally I didn't exclude Kaede's psycho-mode, I just said I know under what circumstances it can happen and how it can be treated effectively before it goes out of control and thus I'm at ease, cause it's very simple really :D Not to mention that if something were to happen to me, she'd massacre those responsible which I think IS the way to go in a good number of occasions.

Truth be told she is the only thing that keeps the chaos that is the Tenchi household running.

And, IMO, the most attractive looking of the cast (As her adult "Tsunami" self that is, young Sasami is extreme cute however)

Couldn't have put it better myself. In my opinion, the best type to marry would the soft-housewife kind of girl (forgive my sexism:heh: ). I can only claim a very limited understanding of what was being said due to my rudimentary Japanese language skills. But there seemed to be a bit of surprise expressed as to how so many of the people posting here knew about characters from non-mainstream series such as Shuffle!, etc. Is it possible that the writer of the article (and the people responding to it) are not very familiar with the existance of the fansub community, and that fansub viewers represent a high concentration of posters on the AnimeSuki forums? Aya Toujo from Ichigo 100% is just about the perfect girl. Her dream (novel writing) is a perfect complement to mine (making video games), she's incredible smart and would almost certainally help push me to my limits because of that, and her personality fits me to a T. And, I think that the secret to handling Lucy would to be to hurry up and start a family. If Lucy woke up and saw you playing with and taking care of your horned children I don't think that she would do anything bad. She knows how it was being raised in an orphanage. I don't think that she would do anything that might cause her children to go to one. Chidori from FMP is certainly to my liking, both personality-wise and in the looks department. (Especially in Fumoffu.) Shame that marrying her would cut my life-expectancy is half with Sousuke always being around to provide 'security'.

Mina from Onegai Twins is extremely cute, seems sweet enough, but is a bit too two-dimensional imho, especially the latter part of the series had her act strangely and made it harder to respect her.

Asumi (from a H-Game called Heart de Roommate) is big favourite of mine. Love her character to death, and obviously, being in an H-Game, she's more than goodlooking. ;-) I just like tomboyish, energetic, and above all positive/cheerful characters, the slight abusive-streak is something I have a decent tolerance for. Anyone who has played the game and finished the story with her would know why this would not be a choice that leads to happiness though, don't wanna spoil though.

Tsukino from Yakitate Japan. I totally love her attitude (though this is in part owing to the nature of the series obviously) and her looks are obviously top-tier as anime characters go. Would mean tasty food too. She's a bit depressing though, with her whole family history, so that's something to look out for. (I loathe characters who feel sorry for themselves too much.) Still, good runner-up.

Youko from Juuni Kokuki is certainly interesting. Good character with enough depth and a disposition that I can respect, also able to bear responsibility. Good-looking too (well, let's face it... what anime-heroine DOESN'T look good?). And tbh I've always wanted to be immortal... rare opportunity. :) Problem is whilst her character is certainly one that I could respect, I'm not sure about getting infatuated with her though... it's something that'd take time.

Hrmmm, trying to think of other names but I seem to be running out... I've seen so much, but I guess there are not very many worth considering. Oh wait, there's AMG of course. I kinda like Keiichi's sister, as well as his senpai (Fujimi) from the Motoring Club.

I'm being to serious about this though. *Reminds self that anime is NOT real* lol... I take everything serious though, I just can't seem to say ridiculous stuff like Hild (AMG) or Aoi (Ai Yori Aoshi) so yea... ends up being a tough choice if you take it too seriously. :)

Edit: I have to say PastPrime's 'Lucy' is an interesting choice as well. Would be scary if she didn't trust you though.

I would have to say Jio Freed from O-parts Hunter (aka 666 Satan).

I mean he's strong, kind (though at first he was hesitant to show that side of himself), and he's pretty good looking too. I mean look at these:

The only down side is that he is sharing a body with Satan so assuming that he gets rid of that little annoyance, I think we'd have at least a better chance. Oh and he's already in love with Ruby, but for the sake of making my fantasy work, she's doesn't exist.

Myself... hmm... in all honesty, I don't know. I watch anime more for rooting towards certain people becoming couples, and I haven't really thought of any girl in anime I'd like to be married to. That is, I like the idea of the girl hooking up with the guy moreso than I see her as potential canditate as a partner for life for me. Certainly there's a few I think are attractive, but no chance in nifleheim that its going to be ME who's gonna break them up when I'm so against other characters getting in their way.

Hmm... probably the one that's single that comes to mind would be Takara Miyuki and Hiiragi Kagami. Miyuki because she can cook and is really intelligent, while Kagami would be fun. Or maybe the captain of the ptolemaius in Gundam 00, since so far she hasn't shown any interest to any guy and she's goddamn hawt.

Risa Koizumi from Love-Com would be a great choice in my opinion. Caring, pretty but not arrogant, goofy woman that make you laugh, (plus for Westerners she's actually only average height at around 5'8"). A little stupid at times, and clueless at others, but who isn't sometimes? Plus it's being able to make your significant other laugh is a huge bonus in a relationship, laughter cures lots of other problems.

I admit I have found a number of female characters attractive, within the context of their anime series. The only anime character I ever saw who I thought "Man! I wish I could meet a real girl like that" was Mizuho Kazami from Please Teacher.

Ignoring the whole scifi/alien thing, she just came across to me as the prefect combination of looks and personalty I have seen so far in an anime. Sexy without being slutty, loving without being pycho, devoted without being dependent. I mean, she even looks good in those frumpy school teacher clothes! :D
