ho yeah..i liked the chapter..and no..i like to see one vs one fight...
Hongo...maybe he almost to die...however...they are martial arts, and their logic is one vs one fight...
The bastard Demon is strong..yeah..experience..and a crazy style...however..i'm not sure that if Sakaki will fight against the Demon..he will lose for sure..
Because Sakaki have almost see all the Demon Move...i don't want say he can win...but..well..maybe he have a chance....
And..maybe if Hongo is almost to die...we can see Saiga show up again..and kill the demon in five second..but yeah...i don't want it..
i want to see Sakaki avenge Hongo....maybe i ask too much..but....

Wow ... ... ...
Poor guy. :(
Sakaki might be able to pull it off, apparently he still has a really strong move he didn't use against Hongo for the sake of holding back.

Hrm, good point. Will this be where Sakaki loses himself and turns to satsujinken? His greatest battle might not be against Jenazad, but against himself. I truly hope it doesn't come to that, but it could happen, and it would be a lot worse than Sakaki dying, for he'd have preserved the honor of katsujinken that way. Can't wait for it. :D

not turn to satsujinken,,but maybe thinking about it..for save the situation..but in the end..he can defeat the Demon without a fatal blow....like Apachi did...
would be awesome..like this..just hope the conclusion is soon..i want to see Kenichi training..by the Elder now!!! hoo yeah!!!

There is no way that Sakaki can handle the Demon Fist. He would die too, no exception.
Sakaki and Hongo are on par as rivals.
Demon Fist is not even really sweating.
Also he is the one who tied with the Elder. (but if the fight would have lasted until the bitter end the Elder would come out as a winner)
If Sakaki could beat the Demon Fist, and then even without killing him, that would be an asspull and would totally downgrade Hongo.
It won't happen anyways.

That was a pretty intense chapter. Pretty much have to feel sorry for Hongo after all this. Chances are that the Elder will have to show up before this arc is done if Silicardo is going to be defeated in more than one way. Did anyone notice the power he holds over that country, and the princess is trying to usurp the guy.:heh: It's been shown in a previous flashback on Silicardo's part that the Elder has this personality to draw people to him and I'm figuring that the Elder's presence is probably the only way to shake Silicardo's power over them.

Since it's a sure kill move I doubt sakaki will even consider using it. There's no part of him that would ever consider killing someone even given his personality. We all know that deep down he's the biggest softie out of all of Kenichi's masters. :P

Chapter 473 RAWs found here: http://juinjutsuteam.forumcommunity.net/?t=45490992
Man, Hongo's definitely down now. Even his ultra desperation move barely put a scratch on Jenazad, who finished him off with his Omega Bearhug of Doom. Now he's challenging Sakaki, whose reaction I can't determine because I can't read Japanese. Though he doesn't seem as irate as I'd expect him to be. Can't wait for the translation.

So, the Demon win! in the end, Hongo has done his best...and his final move was a good move..too bad the Demon is a Monster...
So is time for Sakaki to join in? and what can do Sakaki?

Man, that was a big risk Hongo took, yet even that couldn't defeat Jenazad. Man, the heroes are really in a pickle now. And Sakaki himself admitted Jenazad was stronger than him, that took courage. Youthful pride would've gotten him killed. But now what's he gonna do? If he fights Jenazad the result will most likely be the same. Unless Hayato arrives soon, they're in for a world of hurt. And then some.

2012-05-14, 15:14
Jenazad is stronger than him, but its not by a big enough margin to guarantee victory like that, especially since he just displayed his moves for Sakaki.
Jenezad might win against him 9 out of 10 times, but thats not a guarantee.
After all, Kenichi has technically been beating people left and right who were stronger and more experienced than him. Another thing to consider, Sakaki might not even end up fighting him. Hes way too calm on the last page, something is up.

Hongo will pull an Apachai on us, I can feel it...
Battler-kun
2012-05-14, 21:25
That would be an asspull...and that's not a honorable way of fighting anyways.
Hongo's moves were already cheap, well Jenezard is just a bit arrogant, well he has every right to be.
Anyways, Hongo had no chance, even with his desperate moves, so won't Sakaki, unless the Author decides some huge asspulls...which he did for Apachai (that was pretty pathetic).
Shadow5YA

Hongo will pull an Apachai on us, I can feel it...
It's possible that Hongo will survive, but him beating Jenezad is another matter. Unlike Agaard, Jenezad's strength was already set on the same level as the Elder, who is clearly stronger than the other Ryouzanpaku masters.

Maybe we'll find out Hongo still did something to the demon to weaken him, and we'll find that out towards the end. And Sakakis still yet to use that killing move.
What do you think if Nijma(pervert alien) fight againts the Demon i think Nijma will win.:heh:
People are making a big deal out of this, it wouldn't be an asspull if Sakaki won. I think Boris said it best: If there's no overwhelmingly huge difference in strength, the advantage disappears according to the situation.
http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o315/aliasxn/302_06.jpg
Jenazad is stronger but not omfg stronger. There are things Sakaki could to make it more even, especially now that he's seen him fight and thus have a better grasp of what he is supposed to defend against. Plus like I said before, he still has a move he didn't use against Hongo. Back then he was only fighting for himself, but this time others are concerned. Kenichi and Miu would be in danger if he lost (he doesn't know the One Shadow is there) so he not not really have a choice now.
As expected, the God Hand made a desperation attack and got brutally retaliated... though I don't think he's dead yet.
Now Sakaki, strip off your shirt and puncture 7 holes in your chest, everything else will just fall into place.

This, is the same thing i thought, when i saw the last page:D
Is true thatis the strength is different...even Sakaki admit it..but not always the more stronger win...Kenichi is the example...
And Sakaki see the Demon all move, or many of these..so..
Sincerely, i don't think that Sakaki can win against the Demon...but i think that the Elder is strong than the demon..the fact that the Elder didn't win, is only because the ship was leaving..in the picture, we can see the Elder standing, and the Demon is on its knees...
Is like when the Elder fight against Apachi, when they met...is no like the Elder win the match..sure, he was more strong than Apachi...but he didn't win immediately..
I hope this Arc end soon..i want to see Kenichi training..and see what he can do..maybe a new move or is now time for the Elder training..

Good fight, I can't predict what will happen next at all.
It is possible the move Jenazad got hit with is not fully explained yet. It could have done a lot more damage than we think. Even though Jenazad is stronger, he is also too arrogant which led him to stop paying attention to his opponent and take the hit.
But it could also be that Jenazad is just too strong. The way he blocked the injured hand was awesome and boosted his rep even more. I'm hoping this is the case, because if the other hand did tons of damage anyway then that would take away from Jenazad's coolness in deciding what to block.

It's the circle of life, the second a manga website gets big enough, it becomes noticed and large proportion of it's manga taken down. Then people start visiting smaller websites, then one of those gets big enough to be noticed, and cycle repeats again and again.

Reminds me of the spoiler pics from chapter 84 of Freezing, where an originally defeated Satellizer rises again and impales Chiffon with her blade. As I recall, the first time Sakaki, Hongo, and the third guy met Yami, Yami made them undergo a "trial" to decide who would be the newest member and that trial involved them killing each other battle-royale style. Hongo killed the third guy, and then Sakikaki trashed Yami's "hideout," then joined Ryonzapaku making Hongo and himself enemies from that day on?
So when exactly did these "Yami" missions that the flashback mentions take place?

I figured the mangaka wouldn't be able to kill off Hongou, and after that asspull with Apachai, this is relatively mild. But really, if the Demon Fist loses against him, I'd be very disappointed.

If the Demon Fist lost that would be only because he was playing around and not recognizing the true worth of his enemy, he should have gone for a sure kill after what Hongo has done last chapter. So I wouldn't be disappointed even the opposite.

This fight still going on? Let me guess, Kenichi is standing around watching and drooling while the real fights are going on. Honestly, Ken's fights are just so meaningless now in the face of Yami. I really miss when the manga used to be about the disciples and their growth, not their masters. Nothing like turning your main characters into glorified cameos who serve no purpose to the greater story arc. Shinpaku might as well not even exist-- they don't do anything anymore.
The only meaningful thing they've done in a couple hundred chapters was keep the data from Yami-- a whole 10 chapters of focus. And even then, the entire squad couldn't handle one regular master without help from Sakaki, which just served to show how useless they are in the grand scheme of things. I mean, does anyone even care about Yomi anymore? You don't even hear about them.
IIRC there's only 2 Yomi members remaining. And well yeah, the formula is usually, Ken fights, master appears, 2 masters fight and repeat. I wish ken and friends get to take on a master themselves.

They did that already, twice.
At the DoD, while Kenichi and Miu were busy fighting armed mechs and Yomi, the rest of Kenichi's friends took down a master class fighter, the "host" of the DoD. A man with a long, bloody history of kidnapping children and forcing them to become martial artists just so he could watch them fight to the death for his own amusement.
The second time, Kenichi and friends fought a Yami weapon division Master class opponent who was attacking a government individual (so as to destroy some sensitive Yami information) and they won, because Sakikaki was distracting him by throwing pebbles.
Not satisfied with his loss, the master pulled out deadly weapons and THAT is when Sakikaki stepped in and though wounded, totally cleaned his clock.

I wouldn't really call the second one "taking him on by themselves" with a Grand Master class distracting him the whole time-- and then having to step in anyway. Literally, one guy would have taken down the whole team without Sakaki's distraction, which only serves to reinforce that the disciples are weak and no longer have a place in the manga. :\ It's the master's manga now.
^just give em 500 or some chapters so they'll be on par to subpar masters D:

Sooner Ippo from HNI will screw his GF than Kenichi become a master.
Sooner Ippo from HNI will screw his GF than Kenichi become a master.
In 500 chapters Ippo will still be single, Mashiba is the 'big boss':heh:
I'm guessing by the end of the manga Ippo will still be in disciple/expert class.

Considering there aren't many disciples left, the manga is going to either end soon or there will be no story left to write. There've been no low-level masters developed for Kenichi to fight... All of Yami's leaders are in the Grand Master class. The power difference is just too great and would require decades more before Kenichi could hold his own against them.
Unless, of course, the mangaka coulf just decide to toss in a bunch more underdeveloped disciples just to give Kenichi something to do without ever actually having him become a master. Either way, my interest in the manga has disappeared since it became History's Strongest Masters. I honestly could care less about Hongou and Jenezad fighting and I feel that Kenichi learned nothing from this arc. Yeah, he landed a blow on Miu... while unconscious. We already know that he's stronger when he's out cold. Until he decides to fight her normally while still conscious, he learns nothing. The only thing he can learn is how pointless his goal is to protect Miu as he'd have to face people like Jenezad or her father to do so, which is impossible for him... Maybe in a few decades, but not in the manga's lifetime. I'll be dropping it for now... At least for a couple hundred chapters. Same thing I did with Bleach and MSN.

IIRC there's only 2 Yomi members remaining. And well yeah, the formula is usually, Ken fights, master appears, 2 masters fight and repeat. I wish ken and friends get to take on a master themselves.
You mean a ranking master (the ones with symbols)
The remaining ones looks insanely powerful for Ken and co to take on...
?
There are 4 Yomi members left, Chikage, Rachel, Hermit and Kajima. Granted 3 of the 4 are on friendly terms with him, but still I don't think the author will skip their fights. And there will obviously be involving those guys Ogata is training.

Didn't she basically 'lose' against Kensei and Renka? She did lose her master, so fighting Kenichi is probably the last thing in her mind.
Well I personally liked how this fight was going up until the last three chapters or so..well I'm not big on Kenichi but I still think the master class fights are pretty cool.
And Houngo surviving this seems only slightly less believable than Shigure winning a jousting match on a motorcycle, and topless :|
Wonder what Kenichi can do now that the masters are the ones duking it out: unless the author believes in time-skips
Masters left who have never fighted:
Ogata "Kensei"
Mikumo "bewitching fist"
Cyril "Fist of Brahman"
I guess Kensei is supposed to be the biggest opponent of those 3, even though Mikumo might be stronger..
We have seen fighting, but still undefeated:
Junazar "Demon God"
Has been defeated once, but still free:
Agaard "Emperor"
Sougetsu "Fierce Fist"
Unknown right now:
Akira "God Hand"
.....
we only can tell that Gaidar and Diego Carlo are imprisoned.
But anything could change. And that fact is realistic even in real life :-)
As for YOMI... Kajima is the big fish. And with him, the "end boss" of YAMI, Saiga Furinji as the expected last master.
But was has been stated long time ago? It is not only Yami out there. We do not even know that One Shadow Nine Fists is the top of Yami - there is the unarmed and the armed faction....
Whatever most of the people say - I still like this series since it made me change my life!!

There's no doubt Mikumo is the strongest of the three you mentioned, since she's easily the oldest and most, um, experienced. :heh::heh::heh: However, I'd say Ogata is the most dangerous, since he's a lot like Jenazad. He might be planning to pull a Loki in the future, overthrowing Saiga and creating a new OSNF with himself as the One Shadow. He might make his move when Saiga is most vulnerable i.e. just after his grueling grudge match against Hayato.
And yes, Kajima's definitely the king fish in YOMI, what's left of it anyway. Kenichi's all but dismantled it, so it puts Kajima in a difficult position. He needs to defeat Kenichi to regain YOMI's honor and demonstrate the supremacy of satsujinken. That could be coming soon once the group returns to Japan. Until then...

Theses double pages ...
Nice ending, I thought he'd strike with both hands, but kicking his arm, no one could have predicted it.
Is it just me who sees a contradiction? Junazard says that the Hongou's right arm has taken too much damage and he couldn't use it, but he stops it (the right) nonetheless? Either is a mistake from the translators or the author's one.

No, the thing is, Hongou's move is unstoppable. But one arm is only a feint and can be stopped, and if it is, it becomes possible to dodge the real blow.

Err. The panel in the penultimate page of the chapter indicates that Hongou's attack impaled Demon Fist's chest area, and I don't think that can be written off as a few scratches.
Or did I read the chapter wrong?

No, you read that right. But in the last panel, Jenazad's still smiling, despite his apparently grievous wound. And don't forget, there was no blood on Hongo's hand after he made his supposedly fatal thrust. Does Jenazad have one last trick to trump Hongo's one last trick? I don't understand why so many people put Jenazzad on a pedestal... Without knowing the circumstances of their fight you can't take "the Elder had a difficult fight against him" to mean "he is as strong as the Elder". He attacked Hongo with an attack he was sure wouldn't fail, but Hongo had a counter-technique ready (and btw, a move which had been already been introduced some good 80 chapters ago, it didn't come out of nowhere) and landed a killing blow after tearing himself apart to create that opening. Where is the asspull? Or just because he is stronger he should have been inherently invulnerable to anything that Hongo tried?

had i made a prediction mid fight, I'd have called a win for demon fist for the sake of adding drama. with that said, i am pleasantly surprised it was Hongo's win. i'm not really angry for Hongo victory..
I liked the fight, but, The demon was really more more strong than Hongo, we have seen that if the Demon was use his secret move, the only way for Hongo to survive, was crashing him-self to the ground, and after this Hongo was very injured, but Hongo make he secret move, at first didn't work, but Hongo used his intelligence to win the fight...like he did in the final blow.., i mean hit the elbow to sink the final blow..just Epic...
and for me is ok...but Hongo really took a lot of hit..and lost much blood...so for me a draw was more appropriate...
The demon lost basically because he was playing around...like Shou did with Kenichi..
Shou was certainly more more strong than Kenichi, but he lost because instead to kill Kenichi,he was playing..and maybe is ok because shou was a Disciple..
The Demon but was old...he experience in fight was high compared to Hongo and Sakaki...
Probably now..is time for the Elder to show up..and save the day...:D

No..Miu in the fight with the barbarian Masked (the other Demon disciple), showed that
she wasn't fast like him was..and the barbarian masked was an expert class..
so is impossible that she is fast like a super master...

Well. 1) she wasn't caught by Sakaki in the race up the tower even if she got a bit of a headstart.
2) she managed to get in the way of the demon fist's attack that he expected Hongo (although he is heavily injured) to be unable to avoid.
All these point to her speed being at least near Sakaki. But as mentioned, probably a plot hole.

The fight Between Miu and Kenichi, i know that Kenichi can't get serious against a woman..and especially if the woman in question is Miu..but i was hoping that the situation would change this time..Kenichi was put in a bad position and was the best if this time he could fight seriously..but no...
well, at the end i saw Kenichi defeat a expert class with one move..so i'm bit satisfied..
For the Hongo vs the Demon fight..i still think that a draw was the best..was more good if the two of them killing each other..
And now Radin Tidat Jihan is alive..ok, now never knowed if him was really dead..but...seemed to be...for me is not a big problem..but..this Arc wasn't really good..
For me Matsuena, instead of working in the Omake, was better if he focused more in this Arc..after all The Miu vs Kenichi..was something that all people wanted to see for long time, and this had to be EPIC!

Not only did Kenichi fail to overcome his weakness (never hit girls, even if they're trying to kill you), Hongo somehow managed to survive and defeat a superior opponent, whom should've killed him a month ago. We're definitely due for another disciple fight, in which case Ogata would be the angle to take. That or bring the other One Shadow, Nine Fists back and start the Eternal Setting Sun event that's been mentioned for a long time now. I imagine it'll just be a big war arc like Naruto and Reborn have sort of done lately with bringing everybody back. It's really just a matter of how much longer he wants to keep the manga going. It's had a good long run so far at 477 chapters.
Bring a character back that has been 'dead' for ~300 chapters, while it was surprising I just asked myself, why? The next chapter will probably be about how he was rescued and how he turned from Satsujinken to Katsujinken:uhoh:

Or worse, we find out that Jenazad is actually still alive too. If you look closely, on page 5, panel 3, there's a figure that looks mighty suspicious. Even has a form similar to Jenazad.

Aren't you talking about Jenazad's corpse?
He died standing up from what I understand.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Eternal Sunset was coming after this arc. OSNF is barely at half-strength now, they're losing the war against Ryozanpaku. If they don't strike back, they're gonna all be pwned within the next couple of years or so, especially with the current writing of the story. Geez, the manga needs help, badly. It's becoming far too cliché as of late. Hopefully it improves soon, it needs to.

but i think that Kenichi need training, before the Eternal Sunset start..
Kenichi just started to see Master movements, and like i mentioned, Kajima for me is like a Master...So we need to see the elder training..the final training..
I hope for this..i hope that the Elder teach Kenichi everything..

This is one of the worse chapters I've seen in quite a long time. Not suprirsed, however. This arc in general has been pretty bad as far as pacing and revelence to the main storyline. Nothing significant has happened besides Saiga being introduced. Afterwards everything will magically return to the status-quo.
Oh. Right. There is Mikumo's involvement that needs addressed too since she instigated this entire arc with her chit-chat with Jenazard.
Well... Jihan never died on panel, and an avalanche isn't even a guaranteed death in real life.
Shou on the other head, was clearly shown dead, corpse and all.
The avalanche hit Jihan head-on after he had suffered some major damage from his fight with Kenichi. Jenazard expected the avalanche to kill his disciple, and it was stated repeatedly afterwards that Jihan died. He was dead until this chapter. Jihan coming back in the manner he did is bad writing and a blatant example of deus ex machina.
Regarding Shou, nothing says he can't receive the Jihan treatment. Yes, we saw him take his last breath (we haven't seen his corpse afterwards); yes, its been repeatedly stated he's dead. Nonetheless, that doesn't change the fact that if the author wants to bring him back, he will.

I must be one of the few people that actually liked this chapter. While not very interesting or informative, I liked seeing Jihan again, if only because I didn't expect it. I'm looking forward to next week.

Spoiler for 478
I think the chapter look like Epic...The Elder first thanked Kenichi for save Miu(the Elder is crying), after is like he did something to Miu...
So, The Elder Know about Saiga...not sure if the Elder know more about the story between Saiga and Miu mother and what happened...but probably him and Kenichi are going to have a talk..
Edit. Saiga greeted Kenichi??
Interesting chapter.

The last page of 478:
Kenichi: Elder, I meet a certain person.
Elder: I'm sorry, Kenichi-kun.
Elder: Could you...
Elder: Keep this from Miu for the time being?
Elder: Please.
Oh, and I sorta like this part from the Elder this chapter (not like the theme hasn't been brought up before though):
Elder: The Master teaches the disciple and the disciple teaches the master...
Elder: Jenazard... It looks like you didn't learn anything from your disciple...

I'm not denying that it's an asspull, but it's a very common asspull in shonen that people can see coming. In a shonen manga, If you don't see the corpse on screen/panel, the person is not guaranteed to be dead.
It may just be sophistry and semantics, but Jihan's death is not on the same level as Shou's.

Even then you'll probably only be sure if it's either a severed head or he's in the autopsy room being cut open xD
Shounen manga are so loose sometimes...
For example, it wouldn't surprise me if Shou suddenly showed up revealing that he actually survived for some stupid reason. Or taking a page out of The Breaker, that he's currently in a tank somewhere in a near death state and slowly healing up...
So unless a character has a giant hole filled with manga in his body...there's still the probability of coming back to life...magically...

Interesting chapter.
Man, that final wordless exchange between Kenichi and Saiga made it all worth it. Yes, they will meet again, though it won't be pleasant for either of them. Kenichi will learn Saiga is indeed the One Shadow and thus the Lord of Satsujinken, and Saiga must defeat the man he entrusted Miu to in order to demonstrate the supremacy of satsujinken. How tragic, and it'll start when Kenichi and Kajima finally rumble.
And yes, Hayato knew Saiga was there, and then was gone just as fast. He's definitely Hayato's son.

What a shame, he can't hide the truth forever. Eventually Miu's gonna find out about Saiga, she remembers his voice though she might not consciously know he was there, not yet anyway. Her reaction to learning the truth will be one of the most emotional parts of the manga.
And Hayato was spot on about Jenazad, he learned nothing from his disciples. He saw them as nothing more than pawns, to be used at his will, and discarded when they weren't useful anymore. No one will mourn him, no one.
Chapter 478 is out
Man, to think Jihan would learn humility, I guess being buried in an avalanche will do that to a man, even a king. And I wouldn't worry if I were Hongo, Jihan has no intention of avenging his warped master.
And man, Saiga, his last look at Kenichi, best part of the whole chapter. They will meet again, it's inevitable.
But poor Miu, looks like there'll be quite a few relapses before she's completely cured. Fine by me, much more realistic that way. And it'll probably be very comical, considering this manga. Until then...

Wow..the chapter was really good..
The Elder..it was awesome when thanked Kenichi..with the tears on him eyes..i think was the first time we see the Elder like this..
And Jihan words for the Demon..
So, the Elder know...and want Kenichi keep it a secret from Miu..man..i want to know..i want to know what happened between Saiga and Miu mother...i still think that in the end, Saiga didn't kill her...i want to know damn!
i wonder how Miu would react about this..abot her father...
Interesting, i hope the elder is going to have a talk about Saiga with Kenichi..and i hope that the final training start soon...the training with the Elder would be awesome...
So in the end Saiga greeted Kenichi...for protecting Miu..
Is strange, is obvious that Saiga love Miu..and don't want her to become Satsujin Ken..the fact that Saiga don't take her with him is it..so, what the hell happened with Miu mother??i can't believe Saiga killed her...
I enjoyed this chapter a lot more than the last few ones, which really isn't saying a lot. But still, it had a good share of character interactions and development, though I'd say it was mostly Jihan's charisma that made the chapter work for me. Also, it was nice to see Jenazad getting a send off worthy of his status as a true master of martial arts. As unlikable as he was, his supreme strength was something to be looked up to.
Well, yeah. There's the whole Jihan surviving being an asspull, etc. etc. But I'm tired of ragging on that kind since it's pretty much a genre convention. I'm pretty sure that author was just waiting for an excuse to reintroduce his character given the ambiguous way he "died". I'll just focus on the better parts of this then.

This arc was entertaining to read. Really have enjoyed Kenichi putting his body through the ringer just to get Miu back. Now the question comes will the next arc deal with Miu's past along with dealing with YAMI's arms division plans. Also, I'm interested into seeing how that spoiled prince survived being buried under mountain of snow and how his heart changed a bit. :heh:

This is really getting on my nerves. Right after Jenazad dies, the author suddenly decides to bombard us with bits of his backstory, most notably the one implying that him and the Elder used to be close. I wish this series would stop reminding us that one of this its best characters is dead.
That aside, this chapter was pretty fun. The entire story of Jihan's escape was almost entertaining enough to make the asspull worth it. I guess the author is making up for the little characterization he got before "dying" in the avalanche.

Yes, and it looked like Jihan learned some humility. What good is being a king if no one knows who you are. And he learned how to work for a living, though his people skills still need work. Too silly. :heh::heh::heh::heh:
That surprised me as well, but Jenazad was a different man in his youth. So he and Hayato probably got along for a while, until Jenazad seemed to become jealous and wished to demonstrate his superiority to Hayato, though the fight was never truly concluded because the Elder had a boat to catch.
Yes, I think it's all but a given that Atlanti will appear as Kenichi's next opponents. And Berserker trained by a master, Ogata no less, I am afraid, very afraid. And silly Rimi reappearing, man Miu will not be happy about seeing her again.
And more brutal training from the Elder, I hope Kenichi has his will and testament prepared. ^^;; Until then...

Is it ok for me to really start hating Miu? I'm just so sick of the Mary Sue that she is. All she does is continue to make Kenichi look weak and overshadows all his progress. It should be called "History's Strongest Disciple Miu" as Kenichi definitely isn't the strongest. His goal of protecting her is laughable because it seems the more he trains, the further away she gets.

Eh, it isn't like Apachai was fighting him, he just threw out an attack out of reflex that Kenichi didn't get 1-hit KO'd by.
Brainwashed Miu was kind of kicking Kenichi's ass before too, so it isn't that shocking. Kenichi has certainly gotten a lot better, but Miu improving just means the gap is about the same as before.
Keep in mind that Kenichi is the "talentless" one, while Miu is the granddaughter of the Elder and daughter of the One Shadow.
Also Granpa said Miu got even stronger after Jenazard's brainwash/training.
480 chapters and romance still is non existent, Kenichi still is a weakling, and masters still fool around.

True, but Apachi when hit, is like he it to the death like always, and in this chapter, we saw that after Kenichi take Apachi hit and stand-up, all masters were impressed...and Miu explosive strength, isn't higher than Kenichi..only her speed is really higher than Kenichi...
True, brainwashed Miu was kicking Kenichi's ass before too, why? because the idiot still doesn't want to fight her seriously,Kenichi had perfect technique to fight with Miu, ryusui seikuken..but no, he used it for five second and stopped...basically, kenichi like always, didn't fight against Miu.
Yes..she is strong more than Kenichi, because she is the Kuremisago descendant(perfect body, genius,) Saiga daughter and she is the granddaughter of the invincible Super-man ,she has been trained since she was a child, however in this chapter is like her power( explosive power) grow-up like a god...imho, Miu five shots are nothing compared Apachi one hit..., so i didn't like the end of the chapter..and for me, Matsuena has to stop to put Miu in this way...
Fenrir_valindri
2012-06-30, 09:21
Kenichi didn't block Miu's hits due to her speed advantage, not to mention she hit him a lot more then 5 times, including at least several to the face and chin. Apachi hit him once, and while he was in the air so he went flying away. Not to mention Kenichi was caught off guard, expecting Miu to be performing worse then usual, but instead she is doing better then ever.
Keep in mind, you don't need explosive power to do damage, you just need to hit the right places.

2012-06-30, 09:33
^Still, caught off guard or not, in the end, Miu completely undermines Kenichi's growth every time. Matsuena is completely failing on showing Kenichi's growth and has been for a long time now. Every time you think he's grown some, he just goes on to remind us just how weak Kenichi is. After nearly 500 chapters, it makes it hard to believe Kenichi will every actually reach his goal when each arc ends with every at the status quo. It's hard to get behind a protagonist when it happens every single time. It's all about Miu now and apparently, she's stronger than the Masters as she takes Kenichi down even easier than they do.
The worst part is that Kenichi's goal, and the main goal of the manga, is for him to become strong enough to protect her. However, with this last chapter, Matsuena has basically shown it's an impossible task. No matter how hard Kenichi trains, Miu will be able to surpass him easily with just a week of training and if she took up training seriously, she'd be a grand master within a couple years, while Kenichi would still be struggling as a disciple. So suddenly, one of the main selling points of the manga is... pointless.
Miu is like the Medaka of the manga, minus the attitude.

Kenichi didn't need to block Miu hit..he just have to do ryusui seikuken to avoid her speed attack..and yes, i agree that was because Kenichi was expecting Miu to be a bit weak....., you have a point in it..but like always, is Matsuena that like to make it like this....
And i agree that power isn't everything..however Kenichi explosive power allowed him to win agains the Demon masked disciple(expert class) with one hit..when Miu can't do anything against him..
Basically, i think
Miu speed is higher than Kenichi
Kenichi explosive powers is higher than Miu
Kenichi endurance is higher than Miu
For techniques (strong techniques) i don't really know...Kenichi showed Mubyosi, Korui Nuki, Apanch, Chai kick, and Miu only Fuurinji Kouhouyoku..
for Experience, true, Miu has been trained since she was a child, however she has never fought in a deadly match, like Kenichi that always fight against people that are more strongest than him, the Elder said that if you are an expert class, and want become a master class, it takes time, he called it Experience time...i think that Kenichi is higher than Miu even in this...
But i admit, i really don't like the way Matsuena make Miu...so maybe is for this that i think that for me, they are already equal.
So Kenichi is getting serious now but he is still afraid from Akisame's machine's. :heh:

So suddenly, one of the main selling points of the manga is... pointless.
Miu was always above Kenichi from the start, so I don't see the big deal about her being better than him. Did you expect Miu to simply sit down and do nothing while Kenichi gets better? They're both getting better, but the simple fact is that Miu, being more talented and more experienced than Kenichi, has an advantage over him that isn't simply going to vanish instantly. When you consider the fact that Kenichi has been studying martial arts for less than 2 years, his growth rate is nothing less than phenomenal, especially considering he's supposed to be untalented.
In fact, he's even surpassed Miu in some ways. Just recently, she admitted that his ability to discern techniques was better than hers, and I'm sure his endurance is better than hers too. I can't understand how you can find it hard to believe that Kenichi would reach his goal when the manga has been beating us around the head with the idea of how people achieve goals: Not climbing towards it, but rather falling there. Kenichi, as has been mentioned many times is the sort of guy that even though it takes him awhile, will eventually get there.
As for the Miu beating Kenichi easier than the masters' part, if you're talking about this chapter, Akisame was deliberately going easy on Kenichi. Beating him in an instant isn't going to help him after all.
Miu is like the Medaka of the manga, minus the attitude.

"Talentless" one of the key words in my mind that just shows how much s**t kenichi has to go twice the struggle with martial arts because of that one word, "talentless" I do enjoy the manga, but what will always bugs me in this manga and any other future manga is this: what makes MC's like Kenichi, more specificially what the heck in their very being, in the whole freaking body, is making them become talentless to something like martial arts or anything else like that. Is it in the genes or what? Of course this is a fictional story so the author can do whatever the freak he wants with the story and the character's.
Of course I'm going off my hinges as I do have flaws in my statement. And no matter what is said, it's possibly that Matsuena can have this thing go on for awhile and elaborate on Miu's and kenichi's improvement and then compare them in a sparring match where Miu is still better than Kenichi on a few things. I haven't forgotten that Kenichi also has gotten a few things over her with his perception of techniques and endurance. It could take about 100 more chapters for all I know before there could be a point where maybe Kenichi will fare better again Miu without getting his butt kicked a few seconds in like we seen in this latest chapter. That maybe that all this training he goes through will knocked the talentless out of him.
It's Matsuena manga, all we readers can do is hope that Kenichi can do more and hope for the better than he can get there. Of course with the word eventually (and I hate that word).
Let me tell you...with this new arc and the fact that Matsuena might keeping making Kenichi do these things numerous times that he does to him to show that he's still talentless and weak compared to his masters and Miu. Here's what I think of it.

Some people just don't have a head for certain things. Kenichi isn't naturally inclined towards violent acts or employing his body in a physical manner. The Master's constantly allude to Kenichi's "potential" which is something entirely different from his "talent."
Talent is the ease in which someone learns something, Chikage and Miu have immense amounts of talent and are child prodigies.
Kenichi on the other hand obviously has an incredible amount of "potential" but no talent, hence why the Master's train him so strictly, he is the type of person who has to achieve everything through hard work, not talent.

Can't disagree with that. Of course, I don't think some people who read this see that and it's no wonder why they want to drop this manga for the time being. I've read plenty of manga that sucks and I didn't drop it till the end, mostly because I'm a bit masochistic and try to see some things to the end that might be a guilty pleasure. Of course that has nothing to do with this manga. It's alright, it's just I can see what people think about Kenichi's improvements at this point that makes them frown on it on that side.
People cheer for the MC to do anything and everything in their abilities to improve and do the impossible, it does hurt to see guys like Kenichi like this after all that hard work and than BAM! knocked back a couple of pegs and outdone by other characters. It makes a lot of sense that Kenichi isn't that much inclined to violence, so he ends up in a way untalented in things that included violence, he does all this to try to attempt to protect a girl who is more capable than martial arts than he is, and she outdoes him in a few steps. Possibly he might just find himself between another rock in a hard place again, but then again, there's always something keeping Kenichi around. Some readers don't want to deal with a manga with a main character who still is weak compared to most characters after all that and still doesn't make an impact till the near end which they might possibly miss out on. Again that's just me. I can't blame them for something like that although they know that it's just a darn manga, and no one is perfect, and anybody whose powerful in a higher level can be beaten.
Ok I'm talking too much and going off the deep end. I'm just trying to keep to the conversation of this recent chapters.
Anyway, I can see that people are still hoping when the gloves are truly gonna come off for Kenichi.

As it stands, I don't think there is another disciple class character in the manga that can outclass Kenichi except for Miu, and that is a big step up from when all his battles were uphill ones at the start of the manga.
All his recent fight against Disciple class fighters have him seemingly even, if not outright superior to his opponents.

The problem I have isn't with the loss itself. It would have been fine if he was able to hold his own a bit before she destroyed him. It's that he didn't even put up a fight. Kenichi has master class endurance. He took hits from Akisame and Apachai, who even if they were holding back, are far stronger than Miu. Yet she drops him like he has no stamina at all. It's like Matsuena depowered him purposely just to make Miu look better. All that build up in the chapter to show how Kenichi had grown and it's all swept under the rug with one fight. One month of training and she's suddenly so far ahead of Kenichi that it may as well be back at the beginning of the manga. He was closing the gap slowly after two years and now it's wider than its ever been. For Kenichi to close that gap would require a massive DEM on Matsuena's part because he's established that no matter how hard Kenichi trains, he won't be able to beat her. She'll just have to spend one day training and it'll wipe away a month of his easily.
And the Medaka comment wasn't a compliment. While I enjoy Medaka Box to an extent, I'm not a fan of Medaka and can't stand Mary Sues in general.
@Fenrir: Not sure if there are any disciples that outclass him or not. It's hard to tell when the disciples have been relegated to the back-burner for so long as the masters took over the manga. We've been given nothing to gauge the power levels of the remaining disciples.

As someone mentioned earlier, Kenichi was probably getting ready to go easy on her when they started sparring, in order to make sure he didn't hurt her. Plus, as the manga as already mentioned, Kenichi is a slow starter when it comes to fighting. When you combine these factors, plus Miu moving much better than she thought, it's not surprising what happened. Fighting has a rhyme to it, and Kenichi was one step behind from the get-go, and Miu just capatilized. These are all things that have been brought up before, Matsuena didn't 'suddenly' depower Kenichi.
As for Akisame and Apachai, in case you've forgotten, Master-class fighters can instantly calibrate the power of their attacks, so that doesn't count. Also, this wasn't a serious fight to the death, where if he loses, he dies, or even training with his masters, where he has to give his all. it was just a simple spar. In any case, like his bravery, Kenichi's endurance is only extraordinary when he is serious.
Saying that Kenichi needs a DEM to reach his goal is completely against the theme that the manga has been giving us, as I said before. Even if the goal is distant, Kenichi, being Kenichi will get there eventually. He's already better than Miu in some areas, he CAN catch up.
I suppose part of it was for comedic purposes as well. It's kind of funny for Kenichi to have this serious look on his face about beating Miu in a spar, o ly to get one-shotted :heh:
And the Medaka comment wasn't a compliment. While I enjoy Medaka Box to an extent, I'm not a fan of Medaka and can't stand Mary Sues in general.
I know it wasn't a compliment, but I decided to take it as one anyway. Also, if you think Medaka is just a Mary Sue, I can only be sad at your shallow analysis of her character.

You should re-read the manga or something. We already have a fairly good idea of the strength of a disciple class fighter, judging from the abilities of the various ones we've seen, plus how well Kenichi does against them. Kenichi is pretty much a top class disciple, low level expert now. Compared to before, Kenichi can fight evenly against what we know are high level disciples without many problems, our being overwhelmed that badly. Besides, as the manga has mentioned, strength isn't something so clear cut anyway.

Well, I'll be believe Kenichi can catch up to Miu when I see. Sadly, that'll be 1000 chapters and 20 years down the road... And he'll still be a disciple. As Matsuena has established it right now, if the Elder wasn't holding Miu back, there's no way Kenichi would be able to catch her. She progresses more in a month than he does in two years, readiness or not.
He's going to have a hell of a time explaining just how Kenichi becomes stronger than her in the end because with this chapter he basically established that talent is greater than hard work-- and someone who has talent AND works hard will basically be unstoppable.
And yeah, I figured it was mostly for comedic purposes after the whole "Kenichi's dead!" by Apachai. It's kind felt like Matsunea felt the need to castrate Kenichi there without any other purpose than thinking its funny (not a fan of the butt monkey trope.. Kenichi doesn't have much of it, but I never find all the pain and torture a lead character goes through, usually without cause, to be humorous).
Of course, part of my beef with this whole thing is that I haven't been really happy with the series since the DofD arc. As I mentioned previously, I'm a fan of the disciples, but since then, they've all been written off while the masters overshadow them. I understand that the disciple fights can't be the only focus, but it's also not fun when the story is focused around a group of bad guys the lead character and his side kicks can't even touch.
Just read the chapter and minus the Miu and the Yomi stuff I could probably find quite a few chapters that were similar if not word for word. Was is it really necessary to name all the masters again? It's not like we can forget about them when they've run the show for quite some time now. All one can hope is that with this new Yomi threat Kenichi might actually get some real training like Miu received, but not holding my breath...
Also not sure some are surprised that Miu could wipe the floor with Kenichi. She always has and always will as long as the masters don't teach Kenichi squat and do everything for him...

I'm looking forward to it too, will this be where Ryuuto finally breaks away from YOMI? I can't say he was ever truly loyal to them, since he created Ragnarok to oppose them.

Wow, that was too silly. I wonder if Rimi is a Dou fighter? If so, then calmer heads won't prevail, because Miu's a Dou as well. I feel sorry for the fish,. they're gonna be caught in the crossfire. And Kenichi and Ryuuto none the wiser, yet. Can't wait for the next chapter.
EDIT:
Man, that was too silly. A pity the talk got interrupted, I'm hoping they discussed something important in the chapter, but we'll find out soon enough.
And Miu still has some Bulu in her, as evidenced by her Pencak Silat pose. Good thing she stopped herself, or Rimi would've been torn apart. Guess it's still in her system, despite Ryouzanpaku's best efforts. Poor girl.
And um, was the tentacle groping really necessary? Man they are so lucky they didn't get busted by security. Silly.
Just saw the 483 Raw and I must say...
...while I cannot exactly say that I'm surprised that we got some tentacle action, I didn't expect that we'll get a full on "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" shout out.
Meh, was an ok chapter but nothing to dance a jig about. We already know how more awesome Miu is with her new training under her belt. I want to be able to say the same for Kenichi...

I actually liked this chapter. Man, Miu's increased power, not to mention her still-lingering Bulu persona, will make things difficult for everyone, including herself. Without some serious training from the Elder she just might kill somebody, because she can't control her newfound power. Can't wait to see YOMI's next move in the upcoming chapter. Until then...

Meh, was an ok chapter but nothing to dance a jig about. We already know how more awesome Miu is with her new training under her belt. I want to be able to say the same for Kenichi...
I agree.

Yeah,Miu new power is too dangerous..she make Rimi look like she is nothing..well,we know that she is a prodigy, and her blood line makes her the perfect martial art,but i feel like she is too powerfull..one thing is sure, her speed is already like a master class..hope Kenichi start the Elder training now..not only for the upcoming fights, but also to make him be' able to stop Miu if she go crazy..

Well, to be fair, Rimi never got the chance to show off her true abilities, stupid shark interrupted the whole fight. But still, if Miu went all Bulu on her, she'd definitely be dead. No doubt about it.
Yeah, someone needs to keep her in check. I hope there's some comical moments where she realizes the downside of her immense strength (ripping off doorknobs, crushing eggs or other kitchen utensils, like Inner Moka in Amity to Vampire by Ou-Rex. Too silly, I can see Miu doing all that). Anyway, can't wait for the next chapter.
I knew it, she was a good person all along. No one with such large breasts eyes could be a bad person. :D
Also, lots of turf fights this chapter! :heh:

i dont like that last look of mius one bit, dont tell me shes gonna surrender to them
That'd be a monumentally contrived move on the author's part, the last arc should have made it painfully obvious to Miu that they'd go to hell to get her back (if she didn't know that already).

Dat Mikumo Kushinada! Those things of hers are totally nuclear bombs, I just love how it's centered around Mikumo and her breasts. :heh:  Besides the Mikumo eye candy, good chapter. :)

Either it was really hot where she was at the time, or she had just come from dipping in the pool... *sigh* She's literally too much to handle. And she's in the 70's to 90's range, age-wise!?!? ...too much.
Yay Chikage~! Kisara's gonna have Ukita stolen from right under her nose by a loli...:heh:

I would like the story to focus normally back to Yomi (kids) vs. Kenchi team and specially Kenchi friends fighting. It's bit dull with him fighting over and over.
Wanna see Berserker again.
FYI: ERZA RULES!

It was a good chapter, Good to see Saiga again, and Mikumo..wow she is a total babe!!!! She match perfectly with the Elder:D:heh:
I liked the parody between Kenichi Miu Renka Takeda Kisara and Ukita..
so, it seems that Rimi is going to power up..Ogata is going to make her powerful for sure, and probably he will teach her a killing move for sure..interesting, i wonder who will be her opponent, probably Miu,now, i wonder if Miu can fight a real match like Kenichi do, because if Ogata make Rimi stronger, and Miu is cornered, maybe she go crazy again and she is the one that kill her opponent...her heart isn't stronger like Kenichi heart..if she fall in to the darkness again during the fight one vs one Kenichi cant stop her, is a rule, the fight is one vs one..the only thing Kenichi can do, is speak to her, hehehe, this is become interesting...
i'm still hope to see the Elder training again, the elder need to pass his techniques to Kenichi, there is no way that Kenichi win against Saiga disciple if the Elder doesn't begin to train Kenichi..in a crazy way like him always do...

Rahmans apperance on one of the tv screens makes me think he won't have his own arc, and will just fight when the Eternal Sunset comes. He's kind of a boring character anyway, being all emotionless and what not. :p

I certainly hope it doesn't come to that, but if Miu doesn't get a hold of her newfound strength, that could easily happen. And now Rimi's determined to surpass her and prove herself to Ryuuto, and Ogata's more than happy to help her. This is not gonna end well. I hope Kenichi's prepared, for the next wave of darkness is coming, and soon.

I thought he looked awesome the first time he appeared, but after Sakaki slapped him around it kinda killed the hype.
