HG's restriction on Macross merchendise only applies in the US. We can still them over the counter in brick and mortar shops here in Singapore.

I thought HG held the international licence for Macross? Well I still probably wouldn't be able to buy in Ireland, though I really should look for a UK vendor to mail me one
The airplanes are superb, i'll buy one of them in the future, this is fix. But yeah, really expensive stuff...
But i also like this 2 kit, but unfortunately those items must be pre-order... or i'm wrong?
I saw them an another site, and there just over 10 kits can order of those.
I don't know the e2046 is the same as my early mentioned ' over 10 kits stuff' site...

Yeah, i know that. I have a friend, who make those kits pro level... ( i already have a HMX-13 figure, and this friend painted the cute robot girl... awww fantastic work and fantastic figure!)
I think i'll order in the near future an Ishtar kit, and we'll see the assembly and paint stuff.

Sorry to disappoint but many Macross kits out there are real models that require an adhesive of some sort and paint unlike Gundam kits which do not at all.

I hear Bandai is putting out a model kit, so perhaps we'll get something like a gundam model i.e. easy to put together and high quality.

Bandai has been silent about details regarding their upcoming kits for Frontier other than they are doing the VF-25 in 1/60 and 1/72, much less anything about a Varja.
Please let it be a proper model that requires cement and paint and comes molded in proper light grey styrene that reacts well to plastic cement like Hasegawa plastic. AND PLEASE LET ME HAVE A 1/48 KIT. 1/32 WOULD BE EVEN BETTER.

For those wanting those Bandai Valkyries posted earlier in this thread, Anime News Network has posted the answer (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-05-06/bandai-reissues-of-macross-valkyries-imported-to-america) you've been waiting for!
In a nutshell: Toynami is going to import those toys to the US!!
Full text:North America's Toynami announced that it will distribute Valkyrie robot toys that the Japanese company Bandai had based on Takatoku's classic Macross toy line. The defunct Takatoku company developed the first transformable toys for Studio Nue's Super Dimension Fortress Macross space war series (1982-1983). Takatoku's 1/55-scale VF-1 Valkyrie fighter toy were eventually remolded and recolored as the Jetfire toy for The Transformers line.
Toynami will start its Valkyrie toy release with the VF-1S (pictured above) and VF-1J (pictured below) variants this summer, and continue with the VF-1A variant with detachable Super packs this fall. These first releases will be sold under The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? name. Macross: Do You Remember Love? was the 1984 theatrical film adaptation of the first Macross series.
Toynami plans to release more toys from the first Macross series under the Robotech brand in 2009. The North American distributor Harmony Gold USA partially released the first Macross series on home video in 1984, before rewriting and editing the series with two other series to compile the Robotech project in 1985.
Toynami was founded in 2000 after Harmony Gold USA asked for compensation on the toy imports for the animated Macross Plus sequel by Toynami's predecessor, Toycom. The issue grew into a larger dispute with two lawsuits and led to the recent impasse in Macross releases outside Japan. Before importing the upcoming Valkyrie toy line, Toynami produced its own line of 1/55-scale toys as well as lower-priced 1/100-scale toys. Both of these in-house Toynami designs had less die-cast metal than the Takatoku toys.
Yamato Toys, the former Japanese partner of Toycom, produced a recent 1/48-scale line of VF-1 Valkyrie toys. This June, it will start a 1/60-scale line (pictured at right) that matches the scale of the toys from the other Macross projects in Japan. Both Yamato toy lines use less die-cast metal than Takatoku's toys of the 1980s, but are more faithful to the original mechanical designs.
Bandai is reissuing the Macross toys in Japan to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the first Macross series and the 2008 launch of the Macross Frontier
Hopefully this will help clear up some of the Macross legal quandaries in R1 land and open the door to Macross DVD licenses.
Personally, I can't wait for this:

lulwut? A Vajra kit?
It's nice to see the non-Variable Fighter units get some love.
But that Vajra doesn't seem to be very posable, with its only semi-humanoid articulation and overly busy organic design.
Now, if they would come up with a nice Quaedlunn-Rea kit...
I wouldnt mind a new Koening Monster kit (but it's going to be so expensive :heh:)
Hmm i'll buy a VF-25, in the future... really nice plan, but the Koening Monster also a very 'attractive' stuff. :D
But i really want a Klan Klein figure in her true self, not the loli version.

I'm not big on collecting toys but I really wanted a die-cast valkyrie and I found this pic online:
http://www.ehobbyland.com/Macross-ActionFigure/FIG-MAC-Diecast-VF-1JMax.jpg
Is this rare or something because $40+ seems a bit much for such a little thing. I can't find it for any cheaper.
About those new "Fully tranformables"
Anyone know if they are transformable as in, no need to detach the legs and then attach em to the cockpit like some of the older toys from yamato, i got the YF-11 and the VF-1 Max and at least the VF-1 needs a replacement of the legs, detach em complete and stick em into the cockpit
I saw the YF-19 didnt have this anymore.... shame i dont have the cash for it right now :(

Anyone know where to find more news about Bandai's plans for the fully transformable VF-25 Messiah? I wanna get a few, but hopefully after a few people have gotten them first and posted reviews on them. So that bandai will read the reviews and correct any flaws.
Hmm speaking of which, I wonder if Yamato as fixed any flaws which were in the previous releases of the 1/60 YF-19 model for their 25th Anniversary YF-19 model.

i want one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!
I received my shipment of the first issue of the new Macross Chronicle today and I've had a chance to look it over.
As we all know, the Macross Chronicle is not one book but a series of loose-leaf style sheets inside a thin folder (with three-hole punch in each sheet). The first issue contains 20 pages and each issue is divided into specialty sheets titled Mechanic Sheet, Character Sheet, Timeline Sheet, World Guide Sheet, History Sheet, Technology Sheet, Gallery Sheet, Song Sheet, Goods Sheet, and four other miscellaneous sheets named Glossary, Tribute, Making and Extra Sheets. Each Macross Chronicle issue is made to fit inside a Macross Chronicle binder (sold seperately) which features dividers for 7 categories; Mechanic, Character, Timeline, History, Technology, World Guide and Special.
Macross Chronicle Issue One details the VF-1J Valkyrie, including a 2-page fold out painting of the fighter mode in high detail colors, drawn by Tenjin Hidetaka (known for his beautiful Macross art work on the Hasegawa model boxes and his own Tenjin Hidetaka Valkyrie Artworks of Macross book). There is not an abundance of line art to be found here but the VF-1J section does include line art of VF-1J white/red in full color Fighter and Fighter ventral view, full color Battroid and Battroid rear view and full color GERWALK and GERWALK rear view. Also included are full color pictures for all modes of the Max and Milia variants of the VF-1J Valkyrie. Also included is the VF-19 Excalibur Custom Sound Booster (color Battroid mode only) sheet, Lynn Minmay Character Sheet, Haruhiko Mikimoto Gallery Sheet (with another 2-page fold out painting), Mash Macross II Character sheet, 1999-2004 Timeline Sheet, Sharon Apple History Sheet, Technology Sheet, Sheryl Nome Song Sheet, the old Bandai 1/55 scale VF-1J transformable toy Goods Sheet, a subscription sheet and a Yamato advertisement sheet for the VF-1A Valkyrie 1/48 scale Max and the VF-1S Super Valkyrie 1/48 scale Hikaru weathered.
Without a doubt the Macross Chronicle is designed to be a fan book. It's filled with plenty of flavor text, official trivia and is very colorful. It's designed to cover ALL aspects of the Macross universe, NOT focus upon only one facet of the fiction. So it cannot be emphasized enough that - based on the mechanic sections of issue 1 - the Macross Chronicle is NOT a replacement for the art books of the Macross Mecha, like the Shoji Kawamori Macross Design Works book for example. Other than the full color pictures, there is not a lot of extra line art to admire and most of the non-color pictures are small. However, since this is the first time we've ever seen the Macross mecha colored in a collected work, this book is a real treasure.
Speaking as owner of the Macross Mecha Manual, the coloring is definitely a step up from my own coloring work :)

How can a shouting dude be better than a guy who plays guitar while flying a jet effortlessly!?
Looks Alto is much better than Basara according to the stats in the screen shot.
How can a shouting dude be better than a guy who plays guitar while flying a jet effortlessly!?
Because the Basara concept is retarded?
It's basicly the only damn thing in M7 that i really dislike.
Controlling a plane with a guitar hmmz borderline, but then and singing, and piloting without a helmet and oxygene mask and pulling moves that would put several G's on your body... In my opinion the guy should have been blasted to little pieces in the frist real combat situation, only to be replaced by Mylene.
The Jamming birds concept with 2 seaters was much better as a whole to be honest.

Is there any news regarding blu-ray releases of Macross F yet? I'd really love to have it in true HD (assuming it's made in HD) -- this is the kind of show that really benefits from HD, and I'm willing to put down the cash on the Japanese releases.

Excellent news. Any idea if it's in true HD (720 or 1080) or if it's an upscale? If it's an upscale I'll get DVDs, but if it's true HD then the BD is definitely worth it.

Nope, he simply flips 90 degrees forward. Notice in the shots of the internal cockpit of the VF-25 in any Frontier episode that the cockpit canopy is always at the pilot's rear.

Not sure if anyone would be interested in this piece of Macross F merchandise but if you're into RC's (Radio controled cars) then you may want to invest in something like this.
They consist of two versions:
- Macross Frontier Sheryl Nome - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII (40 MHz).
- Macross Frontier Ranka Lee - Subaru Impreza WRX” (27 MHz)
Both are 1/28 scale replica RC cars with full body paint. Each will cost around 4800yen, batteries not included.
You can check it out here on an affiliate site of Bandai Namco known as CCP Co. LTD:

As listed in its features, it's a perfect transformation kit, meaning you can transform it on the fly once assembled. This is a Bandai kit which uses Gunpla technologies to create, hence it's more of a Master Grade kit with snap fit assembly than your average aircraft model.

I'd rather buy one with a FULL-ARMORED, Fully Armed, Fully Transformable pack. That one's badass!:D
Not to mention it's black color scheme... I love that kind of color.

Well, I don't know what specific name they gave it in the series... but there seems to be two different packs, or maybe different modules that are all part of one system, but whenever they have the four extra engines attached with the missile barrage "Itano Circus" system, its wai kool. It seems that they eject the engine pods before entering Island 1 every time, but still have the chest missile capability. I'm wondering about that fully loaded with engines version... I also like the look of the cockpit on Ozma's machine, because of the skull graphic shield.
If you know the names of the different configurations, I'd love to be educated...

AH! OK then! Great to know THAT'S where I can find such terminology...
Many thanks Sensei! ;)
SO... an Ozma Skull leader with Armor packs version! THAT would be a great release! I hope they get it out soon...
Well, this is obviously not from the "Macross Frontier" series.
So I'll just leave this right here...

It won't be required, but those display models are always professionally touched-up.
I agree, though considering the look of those parts it will still need some detailing.

That depends on the conclusion of the triangle. I ain't giving Kawamori a single cent if Sheryl's efforts aren't properly redeemed by the end of the series.

LOL, you have a point. It would be sad because, well...my Blue rays would be incomplete and I'm usually so anal about those things.
But I would do something horrendous and perhaps pull out everything "Anti-Sheryl in the data book. (Have to keep her images nicely intact)

i have a copy of YAMATO's 1/48 VF-1S. i'll post a pic of it when those rights are granted upon me here...
It's a shame we're not really seeing any new material used for the calender --- it's just all reused images. A shame i guess, though will still be nice to have.
Taken from the MacrossF website. I excluded the ones that I already saw here.

Hey all, I'm seeing lots of suggestions about WHAT swag you can buy from this series, but I'm not reading a lot of reviews, so I'm going to add one here...
OK all you models builders out there, listen up! This model kit ROCKS! If any model I've ever built is worth the money, (and I've built quite a few over the years) its THIS one! I think all told including shipping it cost me around $70. Mine is the Alto Special and I'm only about 1/5th of the way into it, but its amazing. This kit is as described, all "snap fit". So far there are no parts that really need anything more than just snapping them together like an elaborate 3-D puzzle. Whomever designs the assembly and moulding for Bandai deserves a raise in salary. The way things fit is flawless. The finish and color of the parts is beautiful. The quality of the moulding is astounding and the instructions so detailed and easy to follow that it doesn't matter that I can't read kanji. (Although my hiragana and katakana reading ability is coming in handy in pinch...)
All I'm using as tools so far is a decent pair of sprue clippers to get the parts off the trees, an x-acto knife to shave the sprue ends off and a flat needle file to smooth things out where I can't shave it properly. The moulding has NO flash at all...amazing! Every piece fits perfectly with NO modifications... I've never built a kit that didn't require SOME modifications... And so far the decals fit perfectly without having to seam them.
All in all a GREAT kit that is both easy to build, yet challenging enough that its like putting together a really complicated puzzle. The results are looking really wonderful and its been a lot of fun working on it so far. If you are even thinking about getting one of these kits, I'd say go for it. Based on this experience, I'm already planning on getting an Ozma VF-25SS as well. As I get further into the kit, I might post pictures...
Happy building!

Great, now I'm motivated to buy myself one. Will you paint yours? I imagine the lines need to be marked for it to look better.

I put in an order on HLJ for the restock some weeks ago. Now I'm tempted to order the VF-25S Ozma Custom :(. I think I'll end up lining the model with a Gundam Marker at most since I lack any model painting ability :heh:
I could go the "pro" route and do all that painting, but so far I'm really happy with the base results. I decided that since I want to transform it from time to time, I'll mostly leave it box-stock and use the stickers instead of the decals. Paint and decals aren't usually very forgiving with playing around with the thing... posing and all.
There are some details I will paint... the canopy frame needs it and maybe a few highlites like vents and such, but I'm not going near the depth the master model in the shots is. I actually like the inscribed panel lines better than the blackline highlited ones... It looks more like the show...
The pilot is SO SMALL that while I'd usually paint him in, I just don't know if I want to bother. I'd need some new brushes and paint I don't currently have and feeling a little cheap and lazy I don't want to turn a $70 kit into a $200 one! :p ;)
Happy modeling!
Mughi~
And here I thought I could manage to paint the model if I bought one. Don't have an airbrush though. I'm happy that you say that there is no need to go that far. The model costs around 70$. It'll be around 90 with the shipping prices for me. :eyebrow:

Bitching about prices? Hell, you kiddies have no idea how much I spent, and on what...

Going the airbrush route to me is overkill, but that depends on what level of MechaPorn you like... The parts are moulded in white, black, grey, red, clear and ABS white, which for those parts is inconsequential that they're different. As its coming together it looks really sharp with the plastic seams defining the color breaks in a way that taping them and painting them could never achieve. There are lots of small hatches and vents that will look really good with a little blackout or titanium detailing, but nothing that breaks the deal on getting the model to look finished with not taking a brush or pen to it at all. The ONLY place I could use a bit of added color is the clear visor on the head. Its supposed to be clear green and the sticker they include just looks weird. Still I hate to buy a bottle of clear green tint for such a small piece... :upset:
I've already reserved the Ozma over at HLJ and am hoping for that one to come out even better... if that's really possible! :)

Good to know. I'll be buying this model pretty soon. It would be nice if you could post some photos of the finished version. Of course, I mean your work ;)
