... Hmm, after reading a 2ch thread a particular screenshot can't make me wait for two more episodes to come (including this one).

Those who do watch it, do watch the next episode previews. Felli just gets better and better.

... Damn I really wish I can watch the raws now ;_;

By the way do not forget that we are talking about episode 8 here :heh:

First word before comments - Great episode!

Gorneo Lukens (if i got his name right) and Chante (again if i got her name right) from platoon 5 was the opponent of platoon 17 for the mocking battle, but it was more to a personal fight between Layfon Alseif and Gorneo Lukens, whom happens to be the younger brother of the Tenken's Savaris Lukens (the fist user in ep 1).Gorneo seems to have quite abit of skills in using fist attack, notably in manipulating the ground, but none of his attack could scratch Layfon's uniform.Chante on the other hand was nothing more but a gag of the day, especially with Felli made fool of her twice in this episode :heh:

The student council president asked both platoon to go to an old Regios, hoping to find any leftover energy source in that city that they could use for their own. However upon reaching that city,Nina realized that the Regios was the once their opponent that they fought during intercity fight 2 years ago,in which Nina participated, but ended with Zuellni lost in that match. The episode end with Gorneo revealed in front of Nina of whom Layfon really was.

As for Leerin..well she got quite abit of screen time today...but seems like the queen had order Savaris and Lintensce to take care of her.Of course the usual scene when the queen appeared behind Leerin.Nothing much to comment of...except,i'm quite amused with Lintensce and Savaris being those typical superhero that never age even after passing years.I guess they might be using their kei to manipulate their look just like the queen...since each of the Tenken members might actually have more than one ability (in this case,Lintensce, being able to warp Leerin from the library to somewhere else).

Chante whom had a grudge with platoon 17 saw Felli and Layfon from the truck which she sat on top of it.Felli took the chance to distract her attention to the other place, and Chante did ate Felli's bait.Chante looked on the place where Felli pointed at without realizing the pipe behind her head's back. Her head hit the pipe, and Felli quickly wear her helmet, mocking the angry Chante for being a fool.

Chante saw Felli and Sharnid on their bike behind them, and gave a cold stare on Felli.Felli used that chance to mock Chante again,by purposely letting the tyre on her bike seat hitting a stone, which caused the stone to flew and hit Chante's helmet directly.Fell then gave Chante a mocking stare with a reply "hmpph...".

Just landed my hands on the raw and...well, here're a few thoughts-comments on it. No transl. since I'm impaired by the language barrier.

- Leerin is now tailed by two Heavens Blades, Lukence and the other one whose hairdo is just a lightning strike short of becoming an afro. Anyway, it seems Layfon has answered her letter. Looks like Lukence can warp people from one place to the other, too.
- Gorneo indeed takes after his Heavens Blade brother, in that he uses his fists to transmit kei to the ground, kneading it into pillars/spikes that erupt from the ground and chase after their target. Not enough to have Layfon break a sweat - although this time he was once again sandbagging somewhat...keeping Gorneo and his loli sidekick Shante busy while Nina and Sharnid went through the back door and claimed the flag, making it their platoon's victory. No inferiority complex from Nina this time, although Layfon's obviously dejected once he learns that Gorneo is from the Lukence family.
- Small note: Layfon is using a standard-type Dite again, as Harley is busy building an umpteenth replacement unit (the Adamandite probably reached the end of its lifespan and had to be recast).
- Shante is a riot - hot-headed, yeah, in the I'm-not-getting-my-way-with-everything-RAAAAGE-I'll-shish-kabob-you-nyaaa sense. What's even better is that she seems to pick fights with Felli, whose wits are definitely better than brawns (especially when she distracts Shante away from an incoming overhead beam).
- Celebration party gets going at the maid cafe. Guess who's trying to steal all the spotlight by playing announcer? Clue: she always carries a camera with her. Sharnid getting hit on by the gay bartender is a lulz. Layfon remains withdrawn, and a certain OMG-I'm-so-shy-my-blood-pressure-is-going-all-Krakatoa lass once again loses an opportunity to share a bento with her crush.
- Engrish ftw. Nothing new, just shooting the remainder of the hellhounds into nothingness, leaving only the pursuing cars in their wake. Stay tuned for the next episode (as always).
- Another let's-all-fight-together-for-Zuellni-and-win-the-intercity-tournament speech (not in the 'pep talk' sense) from Nina. Unholy sense of foreboding, whither art thou?
- Nina and Layfon are summoned at Mr.I-wish-I-could-be-like-Gendo-Ikari-but-I-don't-have-the-hair-color's office, where Gorneo and Shante are already waiting for orders. Reason: investigate an obviously ruined Regios.
- Zoom back to Leerin in Grendan, where she reminisces her talk with Lukence and Mr.Almost-Afro. "Synola" reappears for a well-timed grope...and is so delighted by her newfound pastime she forgets she's standing on a flight of stairs and doesn't mind her step. Ouch. Looks like kei can't hide the bruises without giving the truth away, eh?
- Return of the Iron Kick(tm). Honestly, does she slip horseshoes inside her socks or what? With the metallic 'DING' that always accompanies her patented Shin-Killer Strike(c), I'm starting to think she doesn't hesitate to go that far...[/kidding]
- WTF? Shante gets a Hello Kitty-like helmet?
- ROFL at Felli vs Shante antics. Hotheaded monkey vs imperturbable cat, indeed.
- The investigated - and ominously deserted - Regios is thoroughly infested with larvae, although it seems they all moved off elsewhere as nothing attacks the search party as it makes its approach (the larvae are actually exoskeletons left behind during the moulting process). I believe a few people will even like the scene where Layfon uses his Dite to pull Felli and himself to the upper level. OMG HUGZ! they shall crow in triumph. (don't get me wrong - I'm quite fond of Felli, too)
- Layfon can use his wire-Dite as a probe? Huh. How practical and versatile...*blinks*
- SHOKKU! The city seems to be one that Zuellni challenged some time ago...and lost against, too (see previous eps) - Weria. Looks like they won a mine for nothing. Nina, understandably, angsts over the tragedy.
- One of the exuviae (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exuvium) comes crashing down and Nina doesn't even notice it, until Layfon pulls her away. As the dust settles down, Gorneo and Shante appear on the carcass, breaking into a speech about fighting. I do believe Gorneo mentions the Heavens Blades for the first time in front of Nina (someone verify this, please).

- ED character is Layfon.

NEXT EP:
- Weird monster attacks Leerin in Grendan. Lukence to the rescue.
- Some tension as the topic of the Heavens Blades is broached. Layfon doesn't look very much enthused.

Gack. Ninja'ed.

Yeap he did say Tenken in front of Nina and Layfon.Nina asked what "victory" (shouri) means to Layfon, and Layfon's answer to it was totally different from Nina's meaning of "victory".It was then Gorneo asked if Layfon's opinion about what "victory" is was caused by him being a Tenken.

Haha. "She still doesn't feel/show a thing of some sort." is what I'll get I guess from what you said... but I understand the circumstances why Felli won't be agitated over such a thing (for now I guess).

But still, the preview which I quoted still makes my curiosity radar go in red alert. :D

Hmmm...actually, the hugging part...occurred when the group was about to climb to the Regios' upper tier. If you want a better insight on the circumstances (read at your own peril and disappointment, as margafred cautioned), just check for my previous post and search for 'hug'.

Ok, Fon-fon can beat anyone in that stupid academy. He's hardly putting in effort or even coming close to going all out to defeat anyone in the city. They're all weak, whole damn city.... amazed they're still around. Fon-fon needs to go all out and make a giant blade like in ep 1 and slice the whole damn city in half or something. Make all those stupid onlookers and trash talker tremble in fear!

Queen is perverted.

Felli is amusing.

Nina, I don't know.

Short white haired guy and cat-monkey girl are annoying. They're like a combination of anal and emo.

Overall, episode left me dumbfounded. Nothing what I expected, it was actually kind of lame and boring -- TO ME IT WAS, not universally overall. We need some serious action and I hope some come soon! I guess at least they drew Fon-fon and his expression pretty good at the beginning when he was doing that tornado thing....

Nina sure is obsessed about winning. And Fon-Fon sure isn't. At the very end of the ep, Nina asks Layfon what winning means to him, and he responds, "Surviving. Myself, and what I'm protecting." Of course, I couldn't make out exactly what Gorneo said, (it was something about "honor of a martial artist.. blah blah blah.. tenken.. blah blah blah...") what was more interesting than that was Nina's reaction to "Tenken."

Fon-Fon's take on "winning" and "losing" is that of someone who's seen a lot of carnage. Not some happy-go-lucky student who's mad that they lost the Big Game.

Oops. Looks like the cat's finally out of the bag, huh? I guess now Layfon will have to start explaining his past to his friends, because you know Gorneo won't shut up about it now. Dude really does hold a serious grudge.

Poor Fon-Fon. The SCP was right-- you can't just run away from your past. And Felli saw right through the SCP's pairing of the 5th with the 17th. She knew he was up to something, she just doesn't know what yet. (That's what she was mumbling about after she kicked Fon-Fon.) She doesn't know that Gorneo knows Fon-Fon' secret... yet. Then again, she doesn't know his secret, either. I guess she'll find out next week. (Maybe that would explain her expression in the preview.)

I like how monkey-girl wanted Fon-Fon to meet with an "accident" during the mission, but Gorneo just said she didn't have the skill to do it yet, y'know, because he's a Tenken and all. Ah, I like monkey-girl.

Interesting episode.

Porta-loli vs. Felli made me smile.

On that Gorneo Vs. Layfon bit, judging on the next ep preview, im guessing that "techinique" Layfon used is another tech he copied from a fellow HB, just like the strings.

You're right. Just watch it and man it's filled with Felli's goodness,

I laughed hard in the garrage/base scene between Felli and Chaten followed by 'monkey'. And damn Felli must've happy when Fon-fon hugs her like that....well I wish anyway.

<3 Felli. XD

And yes, confirmed that Fon-fon is overpowered within Zuellni,

eventhough he acted as bait, but man, thats one frickin overpowered bait and lol at the expression from Gorneo and Chaten Layfon's prowess

But this is also right,

If your grasp of JP isn't strong, I'd wait for subs. There's some fighting, and some slapstick, but lots of talking that's pretty heavy, too, and that will frustrate you.

The episode was dialogue heavy, referring to city, mines, Layfon as a Heaven Blade and the rest of them. Damn subs I beg you please come soon......

lol, I warned you. I'm surprised more of you don't just bite the bullet and start 勉強ing some 日本語. It gives you an instant excuse for watching RAWs-- "It's language practice."

I guess the Zettai Ryouki effect is more powerful than the stuff that burned Fon-Fon's face in ep 5... the cities must use some sort of an enhanced ZR field to keep the pollution and acid out as well. :D

I work too, you know. It's not hard to self-study if you're smart about it. It's more about having the right tools and resources at hand, and knowing how to use them efficiently. Study smart, not hard. Anki + iPhone FTW.

As for the Fon-Fon shadow copies, is anyone really surprised that he can do that? That's like the first thing an uber anime hero learns, right? That and how to get the hair so it looks like an electrocuted haystack that still manages to flop down over one (or both) eye(s). (Oh, and the yelling. They have to learn the yelling.)

I'm pretty sure what Gorneo said to Layfon was something like, "After being exiled for disgracing the name 'Heaven Blade', you think you can just live a carefree life?"As for Nina and Layfon's talk about victory, I understood it as something like this:Nina: Can I ask you something?
Layfon: What is it?
Nina: What does "victory" mean to you?
Layfon: To keep living, just for now. That you, and what you want to protect, won't die just for now.

Hrm ep 8 was interesting, but yeah, some important dialogue. That 'hug' scene could have been easily misconstrued as well, haha, as can be seen from one of the screenshots I captured (http://booksanime.today.com/2009/02/28/koukaku-no-regios-8-the-hug-that-isnt-one/). XD

And I agree with Guppy's translations. :) Wonder what Gornio (Goruneo) meant, exactly, by that...hopefully they tell us in ep 9 like they say they're gonna, heh.

Well learning japanese from anime is not called learning in full name ^^ since you learn only understand little by little their sentences of talk... but you wont learn how to read Kanji and stuff like that ^^

Personaly I was watching many animes and little by little started to understand what they are talking about (at least if the sentences have words that I know ^^)..... offcourse first I watch 1-2 times a RAW episode and try to see if I understand what are they talking about..... then I watch raw with subs to confirm if I was right ^^

Episode was good and I wonder what was the grudge agains Layfon..... I kinda think that Layfon defeated Gorneo in a match of heaven-blade....even when he tryed he lost.... and later he learns that he lost with someone who does not posses honour or pride of beign a HB..... maybe that's hurt him..... since his brother is a HB and he is now thx to Layfon.... next episode will show

But I heared in Sovarius [cant recall his name ^^ but the long-silver haired guys from ep1] words the mentioned Layfons name... so I wonder when they will decide to go to Zuelii.......but ehhh that queen pervered sexual molester scenes are starting to annoy me..... I hope that someday Leerin will say "Stop it... I hate you..." so the queen will stop it to regain her trust

Next epiosde I think that Leerin will be attacked by a monster and both HB will protect her.... maybe after that incident Leerin will decide to go to Zueli to Layfon... since here in Grendan is not safe for her..... the same we will see Layfons past.... maybe ther truth will crush Nina's self-thinking and start to better understand under what weight Layfon is liveing...

hmm, l wonder where he got such information, layfon should beat his ass!
...
Errr...because he and the white-haired guy in Grendan are actually...brothers?

There's no reason why Gorneo shouldn't know about Layfon. After all, Layfon did work, for some time, with the elder brother, Savaris.

Ahh, felli never ceases to appeal to the fans...talk about a moe battle outfit (black theme, frills and some killer heel boots) and you can just imagine how much she must have blushed under her helmet when going up the abandoned Regios :heh:

Layfon was unexpectedly troubled by his winning streak this time round, or rather it had to come sooner or later due to Nina's naive attitude towards fighting. The episode pretty much shows that fighting and winning amongst your own race doesn't mean crap if you can win against the bug attackers, a lesson Nina had to learn sooner or later.

But thankgod Layfon didn't become too depressed though his big identity was revealed in the end...but I wonder if the "Tenkens" are even heard of by Nina :heh:

Two new characters, Gorneo and a monkey girl.
I wonder why Gorneo is out all this way to challange Layfon...or how he got to here in the first place.

Actually, I wasn't implying that you should learn Japanese solely from anime (because then you'd wind up sounding like an idiot), it's just an excuse to watch it if you want to. It's just a nice side benefit to be able to watch RAWs and get a general idea of what's going on without having to wait for subs. Same goes for manga and LNs. You're no longer a victim of EN-language publishers who are slow, overcharge, and whose translations sometimes just plain suck. Same goes for scans if you roll that way, I guess. (Except for the overcharge part.)

Guess I need to say something about the episode to stay on-topic... uh... uh... yeah... nice frills. Fear the power of the ZR field.

I'm interested to see Nina's reaction to the truth.

For now she thinks Layfon is just an regular military artist with excellent skills, but once she learns that he's a former HB (assuming that she knows about them) she'll probably shit bricks this time.

I'm not sure for Nina, but for Felli, its the FRILLS that protect her from the environment.

Its the FRILLS yooo..

Oh man i just love Felli in that training/battle outfit...

She's got kei storage tanks (http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a112/lantaka/snapshot20090301101010.jpg) so she'll be fine even without the frills ;)

I'm guessing she'll either go emo again or force Layfon to spit his past. Actually I'm more afraid on Layfon going emo like Cloud from ff7 or advent children and start complaining about his duty. Nina most likely will snap him out of it though.

ya, they had overly exaggerated, really extreme & irrational responses to Layfon's supposedly big sin that wasn't really a sin, atleast in my books.....meh.....I'm hoping there's more to it than that....find myself completely sympathizing with Layfon or that's probably what the author wants us to do...well, mission accomplished XD.

Anyway, this episode was nice! The tension between Layfon and the Gorneo was nice. Also, I rather like the part with the ruins of the other Regios. There's just something about ruins that I tend to love. Also Leerin got more screen time too and her reactions are cute! Of course, Felli's pranks on that monkey girl was awesome and cute too!

Spoilers about future events must not be posted in this thread.

I'm still kind of new to the forums, so I'm not sure how strictly the policy is enforced, but anyway...

Try comparing the situation with any other well-known heroes, like...say...Spiderman (for lack of a better obvious example). If he started engaging in shady activities (especially in the third movie), how do you think the public will start thinking of the "friendly neighborhood superhero"? Of course he'll get a lot of bad rep because of it! This is pretty normal in any cases, which makes it mandatory that heroes of any kind need some means to redeem himself in the public's eye, not a matter of New York/Grenden needing its pride to be shattered. Layfon can't just keep running from the past forever...

yeah, pretty weird comparison, I know.

btw, did Layfon really get exiled? I thought he left on his own accord, no matter what interpretation you're using. Doesn't help to stick around if almost everyone's hating on you

Yep, banished. Some if not most of us here already knew it probably from the spoilers ahoy back from the generic forum. But seriously, even the manga (scanlation) already stated that in the beginning. >.> The anime is just being multi-interpretative.

Anyway, have you guys noticed? Back around episode 4 or 3 when Layfon was fighting the queen bug, he was having a hard time due to the acidic air but now in this episode, Nina and Felli have their skin showing and they are fine.

I'm guessing it depends on the weather. It was windy filled with hurricane when Layfon left the city in ep 5 to kill the queen bug. I guess air density has something to do with toxic level.

Good epi, first layfon "play" with the 5th platoon, after understand the meaning of the useless word "victory" xDD, and at the end finally starting to talk about the past of layfon :)
Well, the match show surely that layfon is above all another time and Gorneo is surprise of this lol(he probably know the past of layfon, or a part of it, but surely don't know how strong is a HB); shante is really funny, one hotblooded always on rage is really good, and the gag with felli surely are awesome, but when she say "Whatì's the big deal about a HB, anyway? I'm sure Goru is much stronger"... hahahahaha, the reality is always difficult to accept xDD
Poor Nina today have her part of delusion about her beliefs as always lol
Surely the only thing that i want see is layfon that kick gorneo ass easy, so decide to talk calmly because is pretty arrogant, "He is my enemy", yeah and he is nothing for him xDD

Omg this anime is so good ! Just watch this episode :

Great ! We saw Savaris and Lintence who will protect Leerin like Shinola .
So Layfon answered back to Leerin ! But we stil don't know what Leerin said in her letter :(

Layfon's new move = Senninshou
Lol Shante is like a Cat-Viper-Monkey ^^ (Monkey for Felli :) )
The part when Felli said to Shante to turn her head was hilarious XD ahah Felli >< Shante !!!
So Gorneo is Savaris's little brother . Well he have a grudge against Layfon but we don't know why . we'll know in the next episode maybe .

Wow Filth Monsters own Gandoweria , like Layfon said "Even if you win in Intercity Matches , however many mines you posses , however strong you may become ..." it means nothing agaisnt them .

So now Nina know Layfon was a heaven blades , do she will be angry like before that Layfon didn't said it ?

Felli = "... then lift me up more gently" she wants more tenderness XD

About Leerin letter I think that part of that letter we heared from ep1 where at the end Leerin was sitting and writing something... than she touched her lips with a finger and blushed.... (she loves Layfon so much ^^ and her kissing Layfons letter proofs that)

I hope that Nina wont start again her "I know life better than you" attitude.... she doesnt know anything about Layfons life besides what others says (and they mostly know about it from newspapers where reportres dont know the whole truth)

She might get angry at Layfon for what he done... like betraying pride and stuff for money.... if she doest that kind of attitude than I will start to hate her.... and I wish Leerin will come fast to Layfons side since he would need her more now ^^

Nina was living a rich life no food worry, no cloth worry or where to live.....she doesnt know Layfon's life....where he was living in orphanage that was going to be closed... and children were hungry......he simply sacraficed his pride to help his family (who throwed him away.... only Leerin stayed by his side the one and only closest and most important person), well goes we will have to hear the full anime story of what happened...... only money, or that blackmailing issue.... timewill show...

As for Layfon he should just kick Gorneos ass to show him his place.... weak shit cant be angry at Lafyon who could be the case for him not to become a HB like Savarius....since weak people cant become HB becose they want to....or Layfon could find a living dangerous bug and throw him to it and leave him alone.... give him a taste of Layfons life.... ^^ kill or die ^^

I wonder why and who is targeting Leerin.... is it becouse of Layfons betrayal and leaving the city (and someone has a grudge against him) or someone knows Leerins true identity and simply cant allow her to live..... I wonder if in novel it was mentioned...

i am wondering why Gorneo is in Zuelini as the city is on the decline. As the younger brother a Tenken couldn't he have gotten into a better school?

a few notes
- Shana is not form Grendan as she doesn't know what the big deal is about Tenken
- while there is trade between cities there is still not a lot of inter-city communication as the dead city was dead for 2 yrs and no one knew about it for 2 years.
- how do those buses find where the cities are anyway since they move around so much.
- Also just realize the president is that kid on the bus in Ep1.

Question:
what happen to the energy mines when the city that owns it dies?

Lots of talking. Blah blah.

Looks like Layfon learned the doppelganger ability from that white haired Heaven's Blade, whatever his name was as you see him use it mid-air during the next episode preview...

I'm totally thinking Gorneo has something to do with Leerin being targeted, or he is in cahoots with someone in Grendan.

Nina gets another reality check.

Some loli vs. loli action for funnies.

Layfon touches every female near him.

And... that's it.

lol@Leerin lighting up like a cherry.

Just wondering about the kei aura-colors in the opening. Was that done to make it easier to see who's working with who or does it have some kind of "powerlevel" relation so to speak. Green, Yellow, Red, with Blue being shown a lot during the show (Albeit we are only on episode 8.) which would probably be the least concentrated? The Queen has a transparent aura!

If so, how would the chart go?

Because she was rich and did not need to worry about food and clothes does not mean she never suffered anything. Rather it seems that she enjoys and is satisfied with her current life working as as student and janitor kind or proves what she might have went through when she was still back in her family.

My guess is he got expelled or ashamed and didn't have what it takes to be a military artist in a city like Grendan. But why he came to Zuellni instead of prolly other decent academic cities, I have no idea.

- while there is trade between cities there is still not a lot of inter-city communication as the dead city was dead for 2 yrs and no one knew about it for 2 years.

They have televisions and other digital imaging plus measurement gadgets and still didn't communication tools. I think the harsh weather and polution outside the cities have something to do with wave frequencies resulting in disturbance in communication devices and had to rely to Nen-I users like Felli to do it for them.

But seems like they do communicate with traditional messaging, like letters.

- how do those buses find where the cities are anyway since they move around so much.

Maybe from the spotlights? But yea so far this remains unanswered....

what happen to the energy mines when the city that owns it dies?

It could stay there. Or waiting other city to salvage them up.

LOL not enough evidence given to us (in anime at least) to explain the ownership status, unless they care enough to show us something Regios have a unified international laws which include property ownership and the cities have adopted them.

My guess is each cities has their own administration and their own rule to follow, be it education, health department and yadayada.

But regarding mine ownership in a harsh world like Regios where stuffs like the above seems to be non-existent? It’s finders keepers so more like your option 2.

actually that letter Layfon send shouldn't make shippers happy in the least. Really, that line about how he wishes her well with whatever she's doing sounds as if he really doesn't expect to see her again and isn't bothered all that much by the thought.

the important part about the outdoor gear is the helmet. Breathing is what causes the problem not the temperature or anything. So Felli can keep her frills as long as she keeps her helmet on outside.

Well in ep 9 preview we see Felli blushes about something, lo and behold,

Courtesy of cynicalicious, posted in speculation thread for experience Regiotes, dunno why it’s posted there instead in first time viewers, well who cares.

Basically, Fon-Fon tells Nina & the rest of the 17th what he did in Grendan that got him tossed out. Apparently it involved blood or something. This causes dissension in the platoon. (Probably from Nina.)

Meanwhile in Grendan, we see Leerin meeting her foster father, oh, how nice! She's shopping, being sexually harassed by the queen... and being stalked by some "menacing weirdness."

Nina and Felli decide to take a shower.

Oh no! The 5th is getting attacked by something weird. (We don't know what, but it's the same word for weird that they used for the weird thing in Grendan.)

Oh no! Something weird also attacks Leerin! We'll Savaris' true form now as he protects her! So I guess both brothers are fighting the "weirdness" at the same time.

Fon-Fon and Felli share a moment under the moonlight in the abandoned city, two kindred souls, or something. Sharing their feelings of loneliness. Or something. He looks determined, she blushes.

Nina interrupts their moment, because she has Come to a Decision. (About what, I have no idea.)

My guess is that's where they'll end the episode. Whee.

Delicious Felli.

- Subs say "Close Range Gun Combat." Sharnid, I think if they subbed your line into "Close Quarters Combat" you'd sound much cooler. :D
- Fon-fon goes sulking while everybody parties. Felli? No need to ask where she is.
- Nina reveals why she wants to win so much, and mentions her definition of "victory" to him. Layfon's response? A subtle and gentle "Objection!"
- Sure enough, it's not without Nina asking back, "Why?"
- "Lift me up more gently." Le gasp Fon-fon you just scored again.
- Heroic BSOD? Not yet. Not in this episode...
- Nina: "Heaven's Blade Receiver?" Oh noes, Layfon.

actually that letter Layfon send shouldn't make shippers happy in the least. Really, that line about how he wishes her well with whatever she's doing sounds as if he really doesn't expect to see her again and isn't bothered all that much.

Actually, she didnt read aloud the whole letter, did she? Just one sentence from it. We dont know what else was in it. In any case, even if it was a one-sentence letter, it still seems sweet to me. He's happy for her that atleast she's found her niche in life while he himself is struggling to find his own path.

Dont see why its not something we shoud be happy abt or how it sounds like he isnt bothered by the fact that he may not ever see her. Isnt the point of keeping in touch with someone & exchanging letters with them to keep the hope alive that you'll someday meet this person whether it's a friend or a lover?

I can imagine it like this with Nina, ‘why would a godlike ‘Heaven Blade’ be in a weakling squad like us?’ and went emo all again on ‘Layfon should’ve been in a better squad’ before finally snap ‘we are a team and should support each other no matter what past we have!’.
It's like the domino effect: Layfon's going to be the first to go emo, followed up by Nina, then Feli, and ends with the three girl squad (the guys wouldn't matter/care) ;). May last an episode or two for the entire sequence to roll out, ending with someone slapping/motivate Layfon to his senses (those are always fun to watch:)), resulting in major ship tease for whichever female (or male, but...) character that "someone" may be

Layfon's sin must be one of those, "you misunderstood, I only did that for the greater good" or something like that....

Oh yeah and Felli is owning that monkey girl! http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p36/wertyu07/emotawesomepm9.gif (which kinda reminds me of Hiyori from bleach. A Lot). About the Ingrish stuff, I just can't see how their gonna tie it with Layfon and co.

Because she was rich and did not need to worry about food and clothes does not mean she never suffered anything. Rather it seems that she enjoys and is satisfied with her current life working as as student and janitor kind or proves what she might have went through when she was still back in her family.

Well the only difference is that Nina was worrying about herself.... while Layfon was worried for whole orphanage ^^ and simply his money from HB was not enought to keep it running so he found another alternative and so he payed a huge price for it...

Nah Leerin and Savaris no.... he admited that its his job placed by queen to protect her and its not that he is trying to seduce her ;] since queen would kill him for that.... mostly queen knows that Leerin loves Layfon and she is worried about him and thinks about him.... so eventualy Leerin will have to reunite with Layfon ^^ maybe attacks in Grendan are more often so it wont be safe for Leerin there for now so she will decide to go into another city to lafyon

I wonder what the reuniteing between Savaris and Gorneo will be.......like yo oni-chan !! (running with candy eyes) or what the hell are you doing here XD !!? (killer intent in eyes)...... the same how it will be between Savaris,Lintence and Layfon after they meet in the story...... like old friends without deeper grudge against him (for waht he done... since they are human with their own problems that other weak people dont understand and they see them as tool to keep their buts safe) or again the opposite they cant forgive him what he done.....

Kinda interesting but well Leerin loves Layfon in any way ^^ (kissing in ep1.... writing letters.... and now kissing letter from lafyon)..... ehhh why the anime has to be in saturday T__T the waiting is sooooo long...

It's Felli for sure.

Anyway I re-watched the ep again and realize how creepy the ghost town is. Everyone's gone, most likely consumed by the bugs, not only that, Layfon is assuring that the bugs are THAT scary followed by Nina running to the flag to see if thats really the case. It gave me goosebumps, its like the whole town been eaten by zombies or something.

But then again maybe it's just me.

So, Layfon can make some clones und has some kind of a wind affinity. One Question: When will he perform a Rasengan? :D Just kidding.

Overall a very good episode.

Decent episode I thought. The best parts would have to be Felli and the red head fighting. lmao.

And finally, we get some story about Layfon and Grendan.

Thee most sad about uit the fact that shortly after they won against Zuelni the Filth bugs came and destroyed the city and massacred the populance...It was a big slap for Nina to show how fragile is Zuelni's existence(probably it would have the same destiny at the time of ep 5, if Layfon didn't shown up...)

The same Nina can learn what heavy thing Layfon has to hold on his shoulders.... alone protecting whole city from bugs.... where even cooperation stratedy doesnt do much in order to defeat them........ and so Layfon alone protecting city is heavy thing.... its not grendan where queen alone can wipe thousends of monsters at once ^^

Nina kinda thinks that little training and she will be so strong like Layfon (who was strong when she was still playing with fairy's ^^) the same she will defeat monsters

But Nina has 0% knowladge about monster types their weakneses, how to fight them (like they could kill baby larvas but if they didnt killed the mother they would lose for sure....) and rushing at them like without knowing anything about the enemy is kinda stupid ^^ (at least if you dont have strong power like Layfon)

They should create classes about learning what types of monsters there are for better way of fighting.... this is academy city so they should study the world that they live in....

I think that Gorneo is simply jelous of Layfon..... becouse he was a HB yet he acted like he acted...... mostly Gorneo was not strong enought like his older brother to become a HB so he is angry at Layfon that he thrown away something that is his dream (talking about Gorneo's dream)

But honestly if Layfon didnt done that then Zueli would be destroyed since Layfon wouldnt be there ;] such unthankable bastards ^^

Layfon should just kick Gorneos ass to show him what a HB level is.... and what a gap in power there is.... maybe then he would leave him alone....

Felli!! Felli! Felli!

damn!! XD

anyways..i'd really love to see that Fon-fon hugging Felli part..for the next episode was it?

; i don't think Fon-fon needs the HB..seriously..although that would make him kick ass stronger..i think he already is strong as he is..

Yeah i found it somehow fgunny that there's an academy city which is full of students but even the military artists don't learn even a littlen thing about the Filth Monsters.
Not to mention that at least it should have some strong fighters as instructors...
Maybe because the whole city is dying and if someone became strong enough then he/she left asap.

I think it has more to due with the fact that most of the City's are able to locate and avoid the Filth Monsters. Its a rare city that will actively seek and battle Filth Monsters, Grendan is the only one mentioned so far... though Zuellini is now starting to show a litte of the same behavior as Grendan.

Nina's viewpoint in this episode is common to most academic city's.(Logical guess) The battles with other city's over the energy mines are supposed to be very serious training matches for fighting the Filth Monsters and teach all the things Nina mentioned. Nina finally realizes in this episode that everything she has thrown her effort into is nothing more than a baby learning to walk while the Filth Monsters are like an MMA fighter. Its a complete shock to her and she finally realizes how lucky Zuellni was that Layfon was there.

I'm sure Gorneo knows about what a HB level is. However, it's that stupid and annoying monkey girl that doesn't.

Oh, I have to say although the city was eerie, it was somehow nice to look at.... then again it's still about my love for ruins or something. You can see something similar in my signature too.

I really liked this episode since it appears we are starting to dig in to Layfon's past. Up till now the guy has basically been untouched so its nice to see some opposition to him which i feel will not only make him grow as a character but give his team mates another look at him. We all have skeletons in our closet but those skeletons do not define who we are. I was quite shocked that these two showed rather quickly and im sure the prez is having fun as usual with all this.

Felli looked gorgeous as usual black really suits her and we got her patented kick on Layfon AGAIN the guy is going to have surgery to replace his knees if this keeps up. I did however enjoy Felli's little trick on annoying loud monkey girl (i cant remember her name) her dome must have been throbbing after hitting that pipe lol. Of course Felli's rehtoric in most episodes are funny but what i liked was she did question Layfon about his past instead she stated the other two were annoying and her comment about lifting her up more gently. As much as i love Fell's and Layfons interactions i just cant see her as a lover interest not with Leerin looking very good as a match for him.

The power difference between Layfon, monkey girl and Gorneo is too large. They can bitch and moan all they want but if they want to beat Layfon there is one way GET STRONGER Layfon is also intelligent while in combat so i cant see dirty tricks working either. I am however glad they arrived because i really want to know what this grudge is all about. If something mainly with jealousy im going to get pissed because that is so trivial.

I loved the Ruin shots of the city and Nina's face when she realized which city it was not to mention her face when it was revealed that Layfon was Heavens Blade receiver talk about double whammy. Now on to the good stuff what exactly happened to the city that and what events put them in this position. I highly doubt there is anyone from populace left im sure they were all eaten. Notice there no bodies anywhere in the city but then again it has been years but there should still be some trace of blood or remains of humans there was nothing.

I have high hopes now after many of you convinced me to stick with it. I hope it only gets better from here. oh and that crazy queen always with the breast grabbing shes freakin great i thought she had a thing Layfon too but i guess i was just imagining things.

Or Fon-fon used his incredibly fast Heaven Blades moves faster than a speeding bullet to show behind them.

Seems like the next episode is about the qualifications of Heaven Blades. Made you wonder how they actually do the HB qualifications. HBs so far are seen as the most hardcore warriors so my guess is on the test they throw about 50-100 powerful Grendan Kei users in to a tar pit filled with high-level Filth Monsters. It’s either win and survive, or be consumed alive. Finally 1 or 2 will emerge victorious and christened, given the title and weapon ‘Heaven Blade’.

With physical strength obviously being a qualification, there are probably some other things as well, such as mental toughness and things of that nature.

Although from what we've seen so far Layfon goes :( pretty easily.

Yea well he was supposed to be emo in the novels. Somehow the anime changed him into heroic, cool and composed which is perfectly fine. The good natured is still there though.

On the other hand, it's probably better to be emo than have no character at all (unless the person happens to drop off the deep end into a state of Heroic BSOD, then it doesn't matter either way)

Got to say but this series is pretty awesome. It's the only series so far that I have watched every episode every week. It's not to say that I don't watch any others because I do but I'm usually an ep or 2 behind in all the other series.

But yeah, one more day! We will get to see Felli blushing too! Of course more Leerin too!

Anyway, TrueKnight, seeing your avatar of Jade, doesn't it seem like the principal is somewhat similar to Jade? I mean both are pretty manipulative although it would seem right now that Jade is still so much more kickass and full of awesomeness. Perhaps the reason why I like the principal in the first place is due to the resemblance.

I'm using Abyss' game instead anime as a benchmark. For me at least Jade is far more awesome. But overall their characters do resemble each other. Both of are patriots, manipulative, smart and have the same VA's. The difference is that Jade's what you called a good soldier and a godly kickass fighter, in his mid/late 30s, incredibly sarcastic and funny, and cares for his friends.

Kallian? nah he's not even funny if he tries, he's just manipulative. Jade is where the awesomeness went.

This episode was a good one that I feel is setting up for a huge story arc, mainly becaus eof the feud between Nina's team and the guy with the white hair and girl with the red hair's team (I forget their names). It seems as if they were brought to the city and are being made to team together to get rid of the filth monsters but I think there is more to the situation than there leads on to be, I guess I'll find out in episode 9, which I plan on watching today.

I laughed pretty good when Felli distracted the red haired girl and made her hit her head on the low hanging pipe, that was good fun, and we got to see another Filli kick to "Fon Fon" which is always good for a giggle. I gave the episode an 8 on the poll.
