The understanding is that even though the gundams in EW aren't the same as in the series, they're supposed to be the same gundams, they were always supposed to be the Katoki designs.That’s the thing though. They are supposed to be the same, but the fact is: they’re not.

Just like how in AGE TV series, Zeheart piloted white-Legilis in the final battle while in the Memory of Eden OVA, he piloted red-Legilis during the very same event. Both cannot happen in the same timeline. Hence Memory of Eden is a retelling of AGE TV series that happen in a different timeline. In a game, you can say that the story took “another route”. This is hardly anything new as MSG & Zeta also have their own TV series & movies where each of them happen in their own separate timeline/universe. Pretty much like Wing TV & EW.

There may be some inconsistencies, but GoL is a lot more in line and fitting as EW's prequel than the TV series can ever be, just like the recent Gundam Origin OVA is to the original MS Gundam series.

Still, when it comes to Gundam designs, GoL can still make Altron, Deathscythe Hell and the other Gundams lose their "additional weapons" in battle, hence their "lacking" appearance seen in EW flashbacks of the Libra final battle. If they do, that'll make it more consistent with the EW OVA/movie. It also helps that EW OVA & GoL are written by the same person (Sumizawa) with more in-line designs by Katoki.

Yes, they certainly could remove any weapons/additions made to the Gundams during GoL and make them look essentially the same as in EW should the manga cover the events up to it, but I mean that in the OVA the Gundams don't seem to have been upgraded at any point at all.

I don't remember if we saw the Wing Zero in flashbacks and I'm not sure about Altron either, but we've seen Deathscythe Hell, Heavyarms and Sandrock and they look exactly the same.

To be honest, I really enjoy this idea of EW taking place in an alternate universe that isn't the same as the tv series' because it fits with this idea I have that everything is canon and nothing is retconned: there are alternate universes among themselves.

For example, assuming the tv series' timeline is the main universe, there's an alternate universe in which GoL takes place, which is essentially the same as the main timeline except for few alterations, as well as the fact that it goes all the way to FT, which may or may not have happened in the main universe.

Then there's the idea that EW is its own universe, which supposedly follows the main timeline up to the Mariemaia incident (which may or may not have happened in the main and/or GoL/FT universes) and, going by the last line ("Weapons known as Mobile Suits, including the Gundams, were never seen again"), FT doesn't happen in it.

Sure, it pretty much throws a wrench into Black History's gears, since the idea is that history kept repeating itself over and over, from our AD to UC, all the way up to the CC instead of being several alternate timelines (with alternate timelines among themselves) that converged there, but still, I really like this idea to explain retcons and make everything canon.

-Treize was in Luxembourg when he was analyzing the coded mail he received from sender literally caled Heart of Outerspace. He then uses a book on cat language from the politician Heero Yui and decoded the message which talked about the Zero System. He then activates the Pandora's Box he received from Zechs 3 years earlier and sees the future 2nd Lunar War. He then thinks he can stop this war and calls all Specials to help him, only Zechs and Erv missing
-After the officer assassination on the previous volumes, the new Bulge commander decides to execute all rebels. Lady Une tries to talk him down to no avail
-Bit about Quatre opposing Zayed transporting supplies for the war
-Artemis and Quinze planned the rescue of the Bulge prisoners
-The Gundarium deposit Alpha destroyed was to be used to produce 150 Aquilas
-Dekim wanted to help the rebels to receive the Prometheus as payment. The Prometheus is given to the Barton Foundation and Erv became sad after losing it.
-Trowa as testing the WMS-01 Aquila which has more armor and firepower than the Leo but less mobility and melee capability. It's also easier to control due to Instructor H's expertise on cockpit systems.
-Doktor S showed Trowa the Prometheus which was to be captain machine of the Aquila force. Dekim's son couldn't handle it.
-Master O and Wufei went to the moon to rescue Lyaoia disguising as teacher and assistant.
-Beta and Alpha were continously training until J asked them to train their shooting skills for the upcoming war. Beta uses this opportunity to urge Alpha to escape since his Wing can't fly and he wants to die in the battlefield of the upcoming Lunar War. Alpha transforms the Proto Zero and flies away with Beta saying he has to live.

the fight is improvement from the tv series. epyon beam sword is shown to be stronger than wing zero's beam saber. also heero comments how wing zero's appearance has changed.

my my, i come back once in a long while and cannot keep up with FT. I wish there was a site that has all the chapters and pics organized and description with each chapter. So hard to follow this long thread. But yes, as exciting as there continuation for Wing, I hope this is never made into an anime.

Last month's FT chapter full summary, part 1:

-Dekim's forces consisted of a flagship, 5 destroyers, 10 MS transport ships and 2 aircraft. He started Operation Sagitta to weaken the Alliance's moon fighting power and to attack Bulge 5 days later.
-2 Sagittarius class lunar land ships(Pholus and Chiron) were patrolling from Mare Tranquillitatis to Mare Seranitatis. The rebel destroyers releases 200 tons of depth charges at them.
-The Pholus and Chiron managed to destroy the depth charges with anti-air fire but the explosions generated a lot of dust. After this the 100 MS Aquila were launched and then the captain machine Prometheus landed awkwardly on the moon.
-The Aquilas opened fire together with the Prometheus firing from the rear with its cross gatling machineguns and large homing missiles. Then Dekim's son fired the chest and shoulder missiles, emptying all his ammo. The Pholus and Chiron deployed each 50 Leos but since the smoke was still strong some fell to the Aquila's twin gatlings. Since the Leos were mostly equipped with bazookas they were easy prey to the Aquila's beam saber when passing the smoke.
-Dekim decided to retreat after the enemy suffered 50% losses, it was an overwhelming victory. The lunar battleships returned to the base heavily damaged and Septem anticipated the rebel prisoners execution because of the attack.

-Duo heard someone singing Hey Diddle Diddle, he thought it was Hudie but when he opened the Devil's cockpit it was Meilan instead. Duo teases her about having a lovely side but the conversation changed to her father in Bulge. More chitchat until Hudie informs that the prisoners are going to be executed early.

-Septem and Treize arrive at the Tranquillitatis base. Treize tries to dissuade Septem from executing the prisoners saying this would start a war but General Clarence signs the orders. Treize goes to patrol the base and meets Cordelia again, she hands him intel on the rebels. Treize asks her to give him the names of the dead in battle.

-Solak under Treize's orders lead 5 Griefs to guard the southwest. 10 Leo V Nemean had gone to investigate Mare Nectaris but they didn't answer Solak request to return to base. He then went to their location and found all 10 Leos with their cockpits pierced by a beam shot. He then ordered his troops to leave because a sniper was in the area
-It was Beta Heero sniping from the mountains with a camouflaged Wing using the Buster Rifle in a lower output mode. He watched Solak retreat when Dr. J contacted him asking if he had let Alpha escape, Beta denies and J doesn't blame him.

-The rebels hold an emergency meeting in their flagship, a video is shown from the AC 186 attack on Bulge. They doubt they can destroy the Bulge Cannon but Quinze says it has been done by the Proto Zero before and since the Prometheus has more firepower than it it should be possible to disable the cannon. Dekim's is hesitant about the attack and meets Trowa in the hangar, he asks about Prometheus maximum range which Trowa says is 4,5km but with low accuracy. Since this is a dangerous mission Trowa asks to pilot it instead of Dekim's son.

-Inside the large rebel transport ship Artemis pilots Scheherazade while Zechs and Erv use Schwarz Griefs. They also have 50 Leo V Nemean. Erv mentions that the Specials are in the lunar base so Zechs said they shouldn't hesitate. Their forces are then deployed.

-Meilan heard Artemis deployed so they have their camouflaged ship head to the base too. Broden Diez from BOP manga is going in the same direction with 8 Space Aries to support Solak's retreat. Duo's ship manages to pass Broden's troop without being detected.

-When Solak arrives at Tranquillitatis he sees a MS which he mistakes for a blue Grief. It's actually the Tallgeese Zhilong equipped with the 4 Guardians equipment. Wufei rushes the Griefs using the high output propeller Suzaku and disable 2 with the solid sword Byakko. A Grief attacks with a beam saber but Wufei blocks the attack with the super hard Genbu shield and counters with the Byakko. Wufei then takes the folding beam naginata Seiryu from the Genbu shield and combines it with the Byakko to form a double edged spear. Wufei then rotates the spear and defeats the 2 remaining Griefs while sparing the pilots but he didn't feel happy with this victory.
-Minutes later Broden troops arrive and Wufei introduces himself before attacking them. The Space Aries fire missiles together to no avail then Wufei uses the Suzaku booster to reach the Aries. He slices 4 Aries with a single movement of the combined spear and shoots the beam gun from Seiryu at the fifth Aries, Broden then orders the retreat and says he will not forget Wufei while giving his name to him. Because of the extreme acceleration Wufei vomits blood.

-Artemis troops attack the northeast, Erv uses a Dobergun and Zechs dual wields beam sabers. 100 Leos appear but they manage to enter the base to diverge attention to save the prisoners.

-The Alliance base is in chaos, they order every troop to the northeast and Septem makes the 2 Saggitarius class ships deploy too. Treize disagrees with the plan when Noin informs him, he doesn't want the Bulge Cannon to be fired. As Treize is about to board his custom Grief Cordelia asks him to let her fight by his side, Treize says a lady shouldn't do such things. Cordelia says because she's a lady she must do this, Treize smiles and lets her pilot a MS.

Last month's FT chapter full summary, part 2:

-Trowa in Prometheus leads the 100 Aquilas towards Bulge. His fighting style aims to not use all the ammo at once. Trowa disables the Bulge Cannon at close range and mentions he doesn't like the cross gatling because it reminds him of Middie Une and her crucifix transmitter from Episode Zero. He leaves the cross gatling equipped with a time bomb and deals heavy damage to Bulge making it unable to target the lunar surface, helping the rebels. Later an older Trowa regrets destroying the cross gatling while rebuilding the Prometheus.

-Meilan and her sister pilot the Devil while Duo follows in a vehicle behind after infiltrating the base. Duo finds Lyaoia but he wants to die. Duo drags him and other 4 prisoners to escape.

-The rebel fighting force acting as decoy is reduced to 30 Nemean, Artemis observes Treize in a white Grief and Cordelia in a purple Chimera fighting skillfully. She is informed of the prisoners rescue, her Sheherazade is damaged from the long battle. Zechs and Erv ask to be left behind so they defend the retreating troops, Artemis accepts.

-Broden's Space Aries troops spot Duo and the prisoners vehicle, Devil comes to help them. Meilan disables the Devil's stealth system so the enemies can see it. Broden orders his 2 soldiers to retreat but they disregard the order and attack the vehicle. In the ensuing fight Meilan destroys the 2 Space Aries with missiles but Hudie is killed by a beam rifle shot that penetrated the glass cockpit.

-Zechs and Erv have to fight 200 Alliance MS but Treize demands a duel which is accepted. Everyone watches in awe as Treize and Zechs duel, Treize is said to be better at fencing while Zechs is better at MS piloting.

-Duo after boarding the spacecraft with the prisoners goes to personally stop the out of control Devil by entering the cockpit. Meilan accepts her sister death after blaming herself and inherits her will as a rebel.

-Zechs was tired and his beam saber output was falling, Treize took this importunity to cut his black Grief arms. Zechs asks to be killed but Treize refuses and asks him to return to OZ which he does with Erv. Cordelia felt even more admiration for Treize after this, her piloting skills were praised and she joined the Specials too. Treize decides to call her Lady Une and she gives him the name of the dead soldiers in that battle.

-Hudie is given burial in a crater, Meilan and Liayoa say nothing. Master O and Wufei arrive at the scene, Wufei says that Devil is an arrogant name and Warlock would fit the MS better.

-Black Alpha and Proto Zero had been recovered earlier, he and Quatre discuss the meaning of war in a resource sattelite. Alpha said he destroyed the Gundanium deposit on ZERO's request, Quatre then asks what it is, Alpha responds it's like the Heart of Outer Space. Alpha says he doesn't want the Proto Zero anymore and that Quatre should pilot or dismantle it. Zayed appears and orders the Proto Zero and the other frames to be dismantled and abandoned with the resource satellite MO-IV because he believes they are the source of war. Suddenly a shuttle departs, piloting it Black Alpha whose whereabouts were unknown after this. He reappears in the Relena Episode Zero chapter set in AC 191.

-One day earlier the Specials launched an attack on the rebels with 100 Leo Type VI Löwe and 50 Space Aries Golden Fleece(these have similar exteriors but better performance). Some Aquilas were destroyed besides having the same performance but the pilots were inferior to the Specials. Dekim's son pilots the Prometheus(people thought it was him that damaged Bulge) thinking he would easily win but he's defeated(the loss of the cross gatling hurt), he escapes from the cockpit only to be captured and become an Alliance prisoner. The rebel fleet suffered 50% losses and the flagship could barely escape. Doktor S was afraid the Prometheus would fall on OZ's hands and regretted not installing a remote self destruct device. However it didn't happen because Warlock in flight mode came to recover the Prometheus. Duo and Meilan comment on Wufei and Meilan says he's good looking. The Warlock goes back to the crater and they learn Zhilong and the spaceship left back to L5, Duo, Meilan and Liayoa will continue to fight with the rebels. Hudie's death greatly affected Lyaoia making he lose his will to fight.

-The rebels had captured the Chiron and Pholus and wanted to use the underground base to repair the gundanium MS. On the bridge Artemis and Quinze discussed the future rebellion mentioning Zechs as their leader, however Lyaoia escapes with the Prometheus/Warlock/Sheherazade and Quinze goes in pursuit. Then Dr. J enters in contact to warn the ships that he had a sniper placed nearby and that he would shoot anyone there. They had no time to escape since Beta destroyed both bridges killing Artemis. Dr. J tells him that he had attacked allies, Beta says those were Alliance ships then Dr. J congratulates Beta on having his revenge(Artemis' attack on Bulge had caused Aoi and Seis Clark deaths in 186). Beta says that had nothing to do with him.

-Lyaoia then reaches MO-IV and hands the MS to Zayed but he's killed by Quinze which also triggers an explosion in the satellite. Quinze then orders to take Zayed too but his transport is hit by Quatre piloting Proto Zero, Zayed berates Quatre for his actions. MO-IV is then fitted with an engine and moved to the L4 colonies carrying the 4 frames dismantled.

-Some time after Dekim still continues to attack the Allliance on the moon, the brass reunites and Lady Une says to end this they should execute Dekim's son. Septem disagrees with this and Une exposes his connections with Dekim, General Clarence orders Septem's prison. Relena's adoptive father Twelve Darlian participates in releasing the prisoners resulting in a armistice signed at Bulge by Dekim and Clarence putting an end to the 2nd Lunar War.

All these Leo and Aries variants but no lineart hurts...

The only remaing chapters from Episode Zero are Relena's in 191 and Quatre's in 192. Maybe there's still some flashback to go before the end.

-Relena says she will abandon the Peacecraft name to Heero. Noin says Zechs has recovered. They reach Babel
-Spaceport Aries on Mars, Lady Une has arrived from Earth and is greeted by Duo. She's the chief of staff for president Dorothy, Black Alpha now a middle aged man around his 40s(with some grey hair) came with her. Earth is in a economic crisis. Lady Une proposes a Mars Reconstruction plan and Alpha asks Duo to join him in politics. Alpha brought a cat with him and says the Heart of Outerspace is with them.
-Marimeia discovered she was a clone of Leia Barton in AC 204 around the same time Duo came to Mars. Sally created Kathy from her mother's DNA and raised her as a daughter. Lady was worried about Odin Lowe Jr. who was cloned around the same time as Marimeia and searched for him but it was difficult due to the public registration system. Preventers cracked down on unregistered people but Mars was still full of them and this excessive monitoring could lead to a dictatorship after peace had been achieved. Sally's Preventer codename was Water, Wufei's was Cloud and he was sent to Mars to prevent conflict, succeeding.
-In AC 216 Dorothy decided to run for president, around the same time the satellite fell on Lanagrin causing millions of deaths. Sally died when a mob attacked Dorothy's vehicle in the L2 Colony. Preventer strongly repressed the revolt and was becoming a rogue faction. During the process of registering the arrested Lady finally found Alpha looking like a homeless person. Alpha wanted to be free and Lady respected his wish so he started working in politics and became moderate.
-Vulkanus after the events of EW was sent again towards the sun but the Nonneheim Conzern redirected it to Mars in a 10 years voyage and began producing Virgo IV and Mars Suits. Vulkanus can be secretely moved because of the sun's radiation and it finally settled in a elliptic orbit between Phobos and Deimos. Janus was set as a solar prism mirror coated with liquid metal near the moons so finding Vulkanus can only be done by visual observation because of the strong EM field.
-MC 0016(AC 210) was the Mars declaration of independece, Dixneuf was elected because he blackmailed the Earth with PPP and Vulkanus.
-Vingt ordered three OZ-20MSX-D Cerberus to attack Wufei. The variable Mars Suit Cerberus retains the Scorpio appearance but it's painted in black, it was considered a perfect machine for base defense so no changes were made even internally. The 3 Cerberus are operated remotely by Vingt through a ZERO cockpit. Wufei disables his ZERO and flies towards Vulkanus.
-Janus was set in MC 0011 to warm the Mars climate and make the algae reproduce faster. In MC 0012 it was already possible to breath the Mars air, it also lowered Mars surface flare storms. Mars magnetic field was very low until MO-VII was dropped on it activating the core and generating an EM field in MC 0003.
-Grand Chariot docked at Janus, Trowa managed to arrive there using visuals only. Quatre and Katherine had set the explosives inside it, their plan was for it fall on Mars and create an EMP stoppping everything from citizen registration data to ZERO and holograms. PPP would also be stopped for a martian day so Relena could then be killed without triggering PPP. But this would also kill innocent people resulting in a hard decision for Relena. The trio then goes towards Vulkanus.
-Around Vulkanus, Epyon White and the 3 Cerberus were fighting in MA form, Wufei was just evading their attacks since their PDs were too strong. Wufei was thinking about Treize and fighting his brother Vingt. Meanwhile Vingt couldn't win even with Zero so he contemplated sending some of the 150 Virgo IVs he had in Vulkanus. Wufei was fighting without Zero causing Vingt's Zero to delay its forecasts, but Vingt let his ego talk and refused to use the Virgo IVs. Wufei tactics is to repeatedly start and shutoff ZERO, he learned this from his fights with Holo Zechs. Vingt contacts Wufei to congratulate him but Wufei calls him a coward unlike Treize. Wufei asks him how many people have died for him leaving Vingt speechless. Wufei finally counterattacks and says Vingt is fighting only for revenge while Treize fought with love. Grand Chariot arrives and Vingt couldn't predict their approach so he orders the Virgo IVs to deploy. However the trio uses the password from BOP to stop and board the 3 Cerberus, they manage to enter Vulkanus with Epyon White.
-Relena is judged aboard Babel while it's broadcast around Mars. Relena still defends total pacifism while Holo Zechs says peace and freedom cannot coexist so he needs a strong army. Relena is sentenced to death, Heero then goes to her with a pistol and a pen. The pen has the switch to destroy Janus, but before she can decide what to do Babel is attacked by Mars Federal Forces.

For some reason I feel kinda frustrated that both Snow Whites are just recolors with little to no upgrades after they've spent over five years to show them.

Thinking about it, aside from the covers, the only Gundam we've had a clear view of was Prometheus and it was a B&W lineart. We haven't seen Warlock at all, other than the partially covered 'beast mode', and there's also the fact that all 4 FT Gundams supposedly have two versions, the AC and the MC one, assuming the difference between them isn't just minor details such as weapons and/or color schemes.

All this fuss over cloaks and keeping the designs a secret at first made me think it was related to a possible anime adaptation, but now I think that's highly unlikely.

It was pretty obvious to everyone that the new machines were going to be barebones variations of the anime Gundams once we saw the lineart for the Prometheus. Thus far the Scheherazade is the only one that doesn't look like a complete ripoff, and even then it still follows the Sandrock's overall concept.

That said, at least the Snow White does look really nice.

I'm going to go ahead and say I don't consider it canon :heh:I keep telling you people, there was a very clear reason why they threw the guy off the writing team halfway through the anime.You might consider me blasphemous for saying this, but ever since I re-watched Wing series, I realized that the writing is just bad overall, especially for the second or third half. It has great ideas such as the Gundams defending the people of the colonies and fight for their independence which reverse the “Gundam vs. fanatic spacenoids”-formula but the execution of the story is just poor especially after Relena re-established the Sanc Kingdom and insisting to apply the idiotic Total Pacifism where she intended the entire country to just throw all their arms away like Gandhi and opening themselves to be invaded and dominated. Thank god we still have reasonable (aka. sane) people around her like Noin & the Gundam pilots who insist on keeping their MSs in case the Romefeller decided to attack (which they eventually did and turned her kingdom to ash). And it got worse in the last half or third of the series where Zechs suddenly seem to be possessed by the spirit of Char from CCA and willing to lead White Fang (which came outta nowhere) willy nilly just to destroy the Earth. And Treize became suicidal at the drop of a hat and killed himself abandoning all his people and his grand plan just so that he can die at the hand of Wu Fei? Really? For what? He spit in the face of Lady Une who went directly to space after waking up from her coma just to save his life just moments before? I mean, WTF? This is just as stupid as (if not worse than) Talia (SEED Destiny) deciding to leave her precious son just to accompany her former boyfriend to death. And those are only 2-3 examples of all the absurd things that happen in the second half. If somebody got more insight about those ridiculous events in Wing which can explain the reason why they happen that way, I’m open for some constructive input.

In short, the second half of Gundam Wing is actually worse than the first half. So throwing the guy off the writing team halfway through the anime didn’t result in a better outcome at all. It only got worse imo.

Initially he probably intended to died by zechs hands if zechs accept his 1 on 1 duel challenge. But he do so at the hands of wufei despite he completely dominating wufei earlier. I think treize just planned to die at the hand of anyone who piloted Gundam. His grand plan was non-other than the peace outcome of the eve wars that had happened, in the end everything was according to the scenario treize has planned. Having him fighting alongside the Gundam pilots will add a considerable firepower that can stop White Fang quicker before they start their attempt to drop Libra to Earth. But instead of doing something more useful than destroying some Mobile Dolls on his way, he just committed suicide. And the way he did it is also weird: just after he finished listing the names of his dead comrades to Wu Fei and asked Lady to give him the full reports early tomorrow/in the morning, he went right into Altron’s trident and just killed himself and basically spit on Lady’s hard-earned effort to save his ass just earlier. And if he were still alive during Endless Waltz, he can assist Lady in a greater capacity in keeping the peace and probably could’ve even stop Dekim’s plan much earlier.

well, it's weird just like you said. But i can see why he wanted to die, definitely he doesn't want to be a supreme ruler, he just wanted to create a world he had envisioned. Treize definitely wants to die from the start because he knows his dead will make him a martyr.

I already made a comparison between..... Treize’s death and Talia’s from SEED Destiny. Talia chose to die with Durandal to (kinda) make up for her abandoning him in place of having a child and she (possibly) felt a little responsible for what Durandal had become. But that reasoning doesn’t make it less ridiculous how a good mother with a very young son (we're talking about a little kid here) would choose to abandon her child at the drop of a hat and let the child grow without a loving mother just to accompany her dying ex-boyfriend to the afterlife. We pretty much understand the reasoning of both characters’ deaths (well, more like suicides), but it doesn’t make it any less stupid.

whether treize's tactic worked or not is another story for another day. i'd be more prone to believe that treize's sacrifice haunts wufei more than anything. gj treize.

^ First, I wanna make one thing clear. After re-watching Wing, it is clear that Treize doesn’t want peace. Peace was never his goal. Sure, he hates meaningless battles and war, but he still likes battles and war in general (especially those that employ actual human-soldiers piloting MSs and other war-machines). That’s why he despises the existence of Mobile Dolls where one party can just push a button to achieve what they want without fighting for it. He wants to keep the “honorable” aspect of war intact. He went to confront Zechs and White Fang in the final episodes of Wing due to obvious reasons (he doesn’t want to lose Earth due to stupid reasons like Zechs suddenly going super-emo, and wanted to get rid of all the MDs and their source). That’s why the thought of him suddenly and intentionally killing himself before achieving his goal nor receiving assurance that things will turn out like he wanted is just absurd.

I don’t think it makes sense because when the Gundam pilots were arrested by OZ in the colony and about to be executed on their prison by lowering the oxygen level, Wu Fei was the one who have the highest urge and insistence to keep on living while Duo already gave up and prepared to meet his maker at that point :heh:. That was his character development, no more suicidal tendencies, just want to be stronger and keep on living to do what he can to protect the people of Earth & Colonies from people like White Fang & Treize. The former wants to destroy the Earth and all the terrans in it and the latter wants to keep war “fair” and “genuine” by employing humans, not Mobile Dolls. Both sides are messed up in their own ways and not really helping to achieve world-peace, so Wu Fei confronted both of them. But then Treize’s suicide kinda messed up his code of honor and Endless Waltz happens :uhoh:.

They only know the fact that Treize died fighting in battle. I guess Lady and a select few are the only ones who know how Treize died. Also, ironically, his death didn't do much to stop White Fang from destroying earth coz immediately after he died, Lady ordered the remaining Earth forces to cease fire and surrender(?) to White Fang IIRC. After that, it’s the Gundams & their pilots, Noin in her Taurus, Maguanac corps, and even Zechs/Epyon himself (with one of the quickest and most random change of heart ever, after all he did) who actually tried to stop Libra from falling to Earth and actually succeeded.

I was surprised when I saw my forum was posted in Animesuki. (I've followed this FT forum for years for spoilers of FT and GoL.)

In short summary, the epilogue is a short story about Heero and Relena and their life on Mars as husband and wife, 5 months after the end of vol.13. It's sweet short story for HeeroxRelena couple.

The first time I read this, I have to read and translate by myself. My Japanese skill isn't good so I'm not sure I got it 100% right.(and I skipped some part of epilogue lol) Btw,I will try translate a summary to English.

This is a summary I made when I read this for the first time. (I first translated into Thai and then I translated into English) There are some little points or details that I skipped and didn’t mention it in the summary. 
My Japanese skill isn’t good and I’ve never translated anything into English, so if there’s any mistakes in this summary, please tell me and I will fix it. :)

Epilogue: 静寂の終曲 (Finale of Silence)

- Heero proposed to Relena in spring of MC0023 (the end of novel vol.13) and they lived together on Mars, in the lakeside house with flower garden. In this epilogue, it was summer of the same year. They were married for 5 months.

- They didn’t sign the marriage license because Heero didn’t have ID no. (Lol) but that was fine to them.

- Relena still kept calling Heero “Heero”. He wanted to change his name but he had no idea (He didn’t want to use “Aiden” or “Clark” or “Beta”) so Relena decided to call him the same.

- In epilogue, they were having afternoon tea together after Heero tended their garden (how cute)

- After the tea, Heero showed his birth certificate with his mother’s name “Aoi” on it to Relena. The father’s name on the document was blank. Judging by Unicorn, which ova was announced right after it was over or while the last volume was being serialized, and Thunderbolt, which is still going on, I think that if they actually intended to animate FT or whatever Wing sequel FT was supposed to bridge to, they would've already have announced it by now.

Even if it was the case of it being still on the early stages of planning/producing, I think they would've at least have mentioned that there actually are plans for animating it, just like The Origin, which took almost 4 years to be released after the animation was first announced, instead of just going with if it gets animated.

Let's be realistic here, FT isn't likely to be animated and, if it does, it won't be in the near future.

Do NOT buy the book if your looking for gundam artwork. Only WZC and Epyon's heads are shown... all the gundam's even in the book covers are omitted.

The book is gorgeous though. Satin pages with high-quality glossy ink. Everything is very crisps and has nice thick ink that at the right angles looks quite a bit thicker than the pages.

Almost all the b/w pictures in the novels are blown up and in full color. A lot of the covers have had there characters rearranged so they are more visible. Sadly none of the gundams in the covers make it... all the cover images are pretty much put infront of a white background with the exception of Vol.10's cover (black wing zero) which is on a black background. Really annoying for such an otherwise great book. Also dissapointed we don't get full sized original version of the cover's without the text overlays. The orginal covers are only present in the form of 1x1 inch thumbnails on the last few pages though.

I also don't see any new images, maybe the one from Endless Waltz with the preventor uniforms... but, nothing special.

Annoyed and glad this series is over though. Hopefully we get something better the next go around... hoping for GOL to continue past the TV series or something. :/

I recently just found out about the ending and I got to say I'm a HxR shipper for the longest time. That was probably the best outcome I heard from this most convoluted story line that I actually don't know the whole story of because I lost track half way but the ending the only attention grabber for me. Soooo if I rmbr properly HxR is still super young compare to the rest of the G-pilots... now that another 0.0..

... and they live on Mars lol I always enjoy the futuristic Gundam world. And what is this whole dumb down to being a regular human being the Peacecrafts have become. Zechs a farmer on Mars - I guess it goes to show in psychology talk, once your entire life has been at the very top than everyone else - the very next step is to reverse the pyramid and live the basic lifestyle. Can't they be neighbours with the Yuy's? XD But no, the Yuy's got a garden instead.

I initially wanted to leave your comment alone, but since you played the comparison game and said that Wing’s story is better than SEED, I have to say I strongly disagree. Not after I re-watched the series and realized how bad and ridiculous the story is (see my previous posts in previous pages if you want me to elaborate). Story-wise, SEED is (much) better-written than Wing. Yes, it borrows some elements from MSG (which is done intentionally as it was meant as franchise refresher for the millennium audience), but every Gundam series did that to a certain extent. And I’d take a well-written borrowed-story over badly-written original story anytime.

You’d think this sentiment comes from a Wing-hater, but no. As I said in previous pages, Gundam Wing is my first Gundam as a child in the 90s and it’s the reason I fell in love and got into the franchise. But sometimes, we have to grow up and take off that thick nostalgia goggles when the time comes to judge a show objectively. I did that some time ago by slowly-but-surely re-watching Wing (I did that coz the Blu-ray came out and I wanted to know how it looks in hi-def). And to sum up my experience as an objective viewer but also someone who still want to like Wing: it is very close to painful. And that is after I excused the stock footage, bad and re-used animation. The overall execution is just tepid and dreary (ZZ and Victory actually look more detailed and varied and overall better-animated than Wing in most parts, not counting the OP & ED). The BGM is bad except for the theme songs and few selected tracks like the one they use for episode-preview (a far cry from SEED/Destiny’s excellent score). And you already know how I feel about the story and characters (see previous pages). To conclude my impression of the Wing TV series re-watching, I’ll just say this: I’d rather watch SEED Destiny Remaster again and again than watching Wing again. That’s how much I (don’t) enjoy Wing after applying my adult view on it.

Oh, and Kira didn't have 180 of personality in Destiny. His character is still his old self after he was saved by Lacus in SEED. It's just the writer made him mellower and more...what should I call it..."righteous" and "detached" and become more of a Gary Stu which is one of the problems in SEED Destiny.

There's a reason MAHQ doesn't rate Gundam Wing very high and calls it a Cliff Notes of Gundam UC, right down to the mirror of the Axis drop. As for Kira's personality, in the original Destiny run you could make a bit of an argument that he's dealing with some form of shell-shock from the previous war to explain his detached behavior.

About that…..just FYI, Lady Une (one of the most badass females in Wing) is actually dedicating her entire life for her beloved Treize & his ideals. For her, the well-being of Treize always comes first and other things come second (unless he ordered her to disregard his well-being). When Treize orders her to do something, she’ll do it (though she went too extreme in some cases). When Treize ordered her to shut up, she will shut her mouth. You get the idea. She’s basically a female Darth Vader who obeys her emperor’s (Treize’s) every commands most of the times. She’s a badass but she’s also heavily swayed by the man she loves.

And speaking of swayed by the man they loved, even the competent and dependable Noin ended up frozen into inaction once she saw her beloved Zechs standing in front of him as a villain. If Zechs didn’t decide to avert his Epyon’s beam-saber due to lingering feelings towards her, Noin and her White Taurus would’ve been sliced in two. And guess what Noin did after that experience? She apologized to the Gundam pilots who fought with her cause she cannot fight anymore. And guess what she did next? She (in her Taurus) went to where Zechs is and standing right behind him (in his Epyon) without doing anything other than noticing Zechs that she came. Together, they stood on top of Libra watching as it slowly getting closer and closer to earth like a couple watching a sunrise on a freakin' beach *facepalm*. At that point, she was pretty much like a loyal abused wife who can do and would do nothing to stop her husband’s evil deed. She basically lost all her agency and competence once the man she loves standing against her. If that’s not “being swayed by romantic interests” then I don’t know what that is.

Seriously though, I you all haven’t re-watched Gundam Wing in a long while and your fondness of it are mainly driven by nostalgia and vague memories, I suggest you do it (especially if you love Gundam Wing so much like I was). Watching specific scenes or specific episodes on Youtube or other video-sites wouldn’t cut it cause you can’t feel the flow of the story. Watch it in HD so that you can get more kick out of it. Re-watching the series in SD will only make the experience worse.

i only responded because i HAD done a recent rewatch of wing and my personal reception of it still holds up well. sure, heero's super human-ness is pretty bullshit and my friends and i snickered like crazy when trowa played the flute with quatre but as a series about ideals, politics and rebellion it holds up pretty well.

i never said that the females in gundam wing were never influenced by their male counterparts. like you pointed out, they are heavily influenced. hell, even relena began her whole political role because she was inspired by heero, both being arguably two of the most influential characters in the entire series. what i was getting at is that if you strip the series of these female characters, a lot from the series gets lost as a result. in many other gundam series, if you strip the female characters you simply lose a romantic interest or motivation for the male character, or a rival of some sort, nothing that really has direct impact on the plot and its movement. not to say that other females in other gundam series are completely useless, but this series was one of the first times i've seen any anime put so much importance in female characters in a typically male oriented series. sadly it's still one of the best examples, though to be fair i haven't seen a WHOLE lot of anime series to compare (at least, not as many as my friends have).

someone brought this up here but i just want to say this as well; as someone who's first gundam was wing, the first half of the original anime is as good as this series will ever be, and everything afterwards has gotten progressively worse. the attempts to revive wing via GoL or FT only remind me of the same problems stemming from the second half + EW (with FT kicking it up to 11 :heh:). it's honestly better to let it die with whatever grace it has left.

the only way i see AC/MC getting another anime is if they brought a whole new writing team in to retcon away all the bullshit and re-work whatever salvageable parts of FT into a sequel. if it were me...

1 i'd retcon EW, GoL and FT out of existence

2 change certain events in the anime to make more sense (white fang retconed, the sanc kingdom retconned, treize's "suicide" changed to him dying unintentionally, relina's "get rid of the weapons" idiocy being scraped)

3 do the sequel with the same overall premise of FT minus the cloning, time capsules, gender benders, redundant flashbacks, rehashed mechs and stupid plots. i'd keep the ew designs though as here they could just say the originals were upgraded to look this way (which ew should have done). replace whatever needs replacing with new characters, villains, suits ect.

i don't know, there's a lot about it that bothered me the first go around because i wasn't going in with any expectations, but i'm still pretty attached to it all the same. i don't see how this being my first gundam invalidates any good reason for me to like it though? [shrug]

that being said i'm trying to get through as many other series as i can (currently on G Gundam, searching for 0079 sub), since i feel like with gundam there's this unspoken rule on the internet about how you can't say you liked a gundam series unless you watched every single gundam, and that seems to be especially the case for wing and even more so for SEED, apparently.

Of course you can like and enjoy whatever Gundam you like. You can say that you like G-Savior (arguably the worst Gundam in the franchise) and I’ll have absolutely no problem with that. Heck, I was in your shoes when I saw Wing in the 90s and loved it as a kid, but then I grew up and became more critical and learn to see things more objectively and then tried to re-watch Wing with that perspective (which resulted in my reactions in previous pages). That said, I still honestly like some parts of Wing (the mechas, the ideas, the different approach, some characters and the hilarity). If I don’t like Wing anymore, I wouldn’t bother posting in this thread and still following the Manga & Novel.

Second, my asking “Is Wing your first Gundam?” is not to invalidate your enjoying Wing. But part of my gesture to inform you that there are many other Gundams out there with better writing and better execution compared to Wing. In fact, the first MSG series has superb writing that was ahead of its time that the audience didn’t like it the fist time they saw it, but then it proceeded to be really popular and created the real-robot subgenre that you see today like Code Geass, Macross, Aldnoah, etc. Also, some of the great things from Wing are actually recycled things from older Gundam shows with little noteworthy good additions on its own *coughZechscough*. People who like Zechs in Wing but had never seen UC Gundams might not realized that the character that they like is really Char Aznable from MSG but with different name and appearance :heh:.

Third, SEED is good. Yes, it recycled things from the original MSG but after the initial setups, the show went on with their own unique spin on their story. And it has a masked main antagonist who is not a total rip-off of Char character. At the end of SEED, you might not recognize it as an MSG rip-off anymore. That said SEED Destiny is bad. It basically reduced what’s good in SEED and crank up the bad. Many seed haters are just UC-elitists or those who generalized all SEED series as a mess after Destiny’s bad-ness.

So yeah. You may continue to like & enjoy Wing, and I'll be happy for you ;).

A couple of years? Not quite. Barge was already destroyed. They're nearing the final run now. At most, it'll end in early 2017.

so many things sumizawa changed from the existing tv series. mainly how white fang recruited zechs and also dermail's death, which he died together with the insaned tsubarov, meanwhile quatre and noin haven't found trowa yet and duo and wufei joined peacemillion earlier.

some changes feel strange, like when heero and zechs switch their respective suit, it was done differently as both were attacked by romfeller fleet during their battle and their switch occur after they demolished the fleet, also it was zechs and epyon whom attacked and defend the resistance before the relena's inauguration as queen of the world instead of heero and wing zero. It was the time after zechs got contacted by quinze and offered to join white fang as their leader. but some also feels good, especially dermail's death in the lunar base together with tsubarov after zechs destroyed barge and the gundamboys doesn't interfere in the barge battle.
the next volume will deal with trowa's recovery and also heavyarms kai and sandrock kai debut

I guess all we can do now is wait for the new GoL releases. I still think I prefer the original anime better but the artwork is really gorgeous so I'm happy to stick with it. Heero Yui alpha (pilot 01's clone that aged normally) went to Mars with Lady Une.
Mars celebrated elections in which Duo Maxwell got elected, with Hilde as First Lady (she didn't sign up the divorce) and Heero Yui alpha as his assistant.
Master Chang (WuFei), Dr T (Trowa/Triton) and Professor W (Quatre) are still fighting against rebels in Mars. Phobos/No Name, Duo Jr/Phenrir and Quatrine are fighting said rebels using their Mobile Suits.
There was a new virus (V.V. : Vampire Virus?) that makes people young again, Quatre (as well as Vingt's clone?) caught it (so are they getting younger?)

Same goes for Tallgeese II. Definitely the most elegant MS in GW lol.
Personally hope that Trieze doesnt use the dober gun in the final battle since he is the one who deemed long range weapon is non-elegant lol. Using those two heat sabre only to fight evenly against Wu Fei's Altron will be simply epic.

Man, those illustrations look awesome. Love how the heat rod shield is placed on the lower back and he has those two defensor on his arm now. Make him look more demon-ish due to its tail.

I too really hope they don't let this team and gundam-w end with the conclusion of the GOL series. Though it will take some work for them to make new things for EW to keep it interesting.

Sadly, I hope X is next. If there is a alt series that needs the same treatment or rather a refresh/redo After War is it.

Not really any new gear. Zech's winglet add-ons were used to bump up the power to his sword to destroy Libra, and WZC finally equips the Droplet version of the DreiZwerg (all 6 sub weapons attached to the TBR.)

Vol14 was very brief. It pretty much ended just like the TV series, Visiting Zechs/Treize graves and Relena ripping up Heero's Birthday Card on a plane. Very rushed feeling with the scene of Zechs' sacrifice/Heero firing the TBR to the ending was only 20 pages. :/

Now just hoping for an artbook like they did with Frozen Teardrop. Vol14 had no insert/ color pages other than one close up of Heero and Relena, just like on the cover.

Well, I don't remember...
When you say "Epyon", which one are you refering to? the red one (distroyed, I think) or the White/Bai one? (piloted by Master Chang) I think that one survived.
As for Snow White, I don't really remember...but IIRC the other Gundams were still operative...
