Team Nagano: Oh this is going to be a fun team. And yeah, its better Saki than Koromo on the captain position. You can't be certain the full moon will be up. And I don't know if Koromo's sadism is completely cured.

Team Osaka: I have no idea what Kei is like. Hmmm... but assuming a better Satoha. Ace spot should go to her. Toki should not get the captain position being the hotblooded sick moeblob that she is. Actually, Hiroe would be good at captain. Ryuuka can be our middle player.

Team Tokyo: Yeah. Awai really shouldn't have gotten the captain position in Shiraitodai. Any position but that would work wonders for her. Satoha wouldd be good in the Captain position. I would actually like Teru to stay in vanguard. She works wonders there.

Re: International arcs. I want different rulesets. We already have a taste of that in the recent spin-off. Plus, I remember that the tournament title that Kokaji last played sounds like it have different rules. ^^

Team Nagano All Stars: Mihoko, Yumi, Koromo, Hisa, Saki? Koromo has to be later because she's sure not going to wake up in time for anything in the morning. The full moon thing is too finnicky to worry about placing her in Captain position for it and Saki is a better Captain anyway assuming she's motivated.

Team Osaka: Kei, Toki, Hiroe, Sera, Ryuuka? Or switch it around - Hiroe / Sera, Toki, Sera / Hiroe, Ryuuka, Kei. I was thinking of putting Sera first but she had that minor freak out over not doing well in the usual 'Ace' spots so... But on the other hand, if Teru is Lt., move Sera out of that spot.

Team Tokyo: Awai, Hao, Teru, Megan, Satoha. Awai should be able to rack up the points, she doesn't need to worry about standings, just gathering, and ... if she screws up, Teru can make it up. *grumps* Satoha is last because she actually seems to know how to aim and adjust and Teru is great but she plays the same way all the time. And I just guessed on the Sgt. and VC spot since we haven't seen comparisons other than NOT SEIKO and 1/2 of Rinkai hasn't gone into action yet.

... If we really do get a internationals arc, it's going to be *so fun*.

Yeah... that is probably going to be a problem in any international arc. Either the enemies there would be so powerful, that team Japan can field a Teru-Saki combination and there will still be challenge. Or she needs to make a reason why the two of them can't be on the same team.

On that hypothetical combination, I'll probably put Satoha on Sergeant, after Teru. Her targeting on the vanguard semi's really amazed me. lol ^^

Though, speaking of team combinations. Team Nagano All stars is also nice. As well as Team Osaka with Senriyama + Himematsu + Kei. Come to think of it, Team Tokyo is going to be stupidly good as well Rinkai + Teru. lol

Yes, I was sticking to the original position as shown in the team tournament. And... eh. Two of them on one team is sort of overkill. And plus, I really do like Satoha.

Well, this works if you only stick to the original position of the characters. I assume, they can change the position in between tournaments.

And its surprising that you didn't go for the usual set-up of Teru-person-person-person- Saki. ^^

Especially since Riichi Mahjong is such a defensive-oriented game. You're only going to win 1/4 of the time so in order to do well, you MUST be able to play defense. Who knows. That school and its insistence on various teams that compete to represent the school rather than taking the best 5 (with a few adjustments depending a la Usuzan and Subara) just seems so strange.

Speaking of that, I was thinking the other day on what teams I would make if I could pick and choose from team tournament nationals players. The big problem I was coming up against was that I don't really like any of the Lts' play style (sorry Mako). Well, I mean, I think they're ok but no one really stands out to me. Huh. Maybe Yuu. I think she's one of the better players on her team.

For example, a line up I would like is: Satoha, Matsumi, Hiroe / Hisa, Mairu, Saki. I like both Hiroe and Hisa so maybe one of them would be the alternate. A good, solid team right? I find I tend to like the analytical players who can adapt to occult.

For Teru, pair her up with - oh, Kasumi, I suppose. She's probably the only actual defensive player I've seen. Most everyone is pretty balanced or jamming down that attack mode button. Sumire is still fine for the Lt. spot. Then... FunaQ and probably Sera. So: Teru, Sumire, Sera, FunaQ, Kasumi. Every good team needs a data collector (Kiyosumi had Yumi ) and strategist, esp. if you insist on running around without a coach.

Re: International - They've made it much more obvious in the anime. Very interesting. Guessing that Kubo and Fujita are still scouting for that.

To be honest, I'm really wondering what the hell is wrong with Shiraitodai in the semis. Its like they're trying to lose every single advantage they have.

For one, their team construction is so mindbogglingly stupid. Why would they make a pure offense team for god sakes?! With Teru in the team, they have all the offense they could ever need. In fact, the optimal choice is Teru and 4x defender. Heck, each member could safety lose 10k and Teru's gain will probably enough for them to win all the way to the finals. And if they do lose points, all they have to do is not get directly hit. Since mathematical logic says if all the loses they take is from tsumo someone will bust out before their opponent even overtakes them.

    <Sigh>

Well, as you've said, at least Rinkai is doing a good job for their hype. It speaks well if Ritz is planning a possible International Stage.

That just reminds me how depressing it is that Shiraitodai turned out to be such chumps, Teru aside. But Rinkai is pretty awesome so I do dearly hope they will continue to be awesome. Even Choe is pretty cool - it's just makes Hisa pulling off that stunt of hers even more cool in retrospect.

Yeah. It got a bit thick with implications near the end.

Oh, I don't blame Naruka at all what with Satoha there. I just think it's hilarious how bad Seiko played that her results were even worse than Naruka. In fact, she lost the most points of any player that we know in the nationals team tournament. Not single handedly -- the entire team bar Teru played badly -- but she did lose, oh, a good 2/3 of it.

Awai didn't help either. She went in with a 6k lead and ended up losing 18k points (2nd most on her team).

blinks... looks like most of our post got deleted at the end. sigh...

And I apparently was overestimating Seiko. I must have hypnotized myself in believing that she has lost 40k or something lol. She really did single handedly lost Shiraitodai's lead didn't she?

...And about Naruka... she's apparently a really low level player in-universe, probably a beginner or something. So I don't hold it against her. Well much. ^^
