Okay....but what actually happened in it...Something along the lines of Nadeko's arc having no visuals? Someone got laid? Visual orgasm for the masses? Why all the fuss?

I've come to appreciate the biggest driving factor of sales in Japan is fanaticism. You have to be stupid and unnecessarily loyal to buy 2 episodes for 90 dollars. P4 and Horizon fans made me fume for a while, then I realised they're the idiots in all of this. Good luck to them wasting their money. Fanaticism is what ostracizes anime in the first place, yet it's what drives the industry. What a hilarious double-edged sword.

I'm watching Space Battleship Yamato in full until someone gives me a convincing argument to watch anything from 2012. I still haven't heard one.

Well, I'm over it now, lol

I just found it sad how a lot of people were calling it "Best Anime Episode of the Year!" when we're only two months into 2012, and also since I'm really liking a couple current anime shows that I think are excellent almost across-the-board.

But yeah, I probably angsted too much over that, lol. I've slowly been learning that there's a few different franchise fanbases within anime, and that they go beyond just KyoAni. SHAFT has them, Persona has them, Fate/Series and Type Moon has them... now that I'm learning this I get a better idea of what to expect on a popular franchise's subforum for episode threads. I'll take things with a bigger grain of salt in the future.

It's hard for me to relate to, because I'm first and foremost just an anime fan. I like some SHAFT shows and I like some KyoAni shows and I probably like the offerings of those two sudios the best out of all the studios, but I don't feel any sort of fan loyalty to the studios themselves. Like Demi Soda, I think that writers, directors, etc... are more important to how good an anime is than the studio that produces it.

Why people bother to rage over SHAFT is beyond me. SHAFT may be the big dog in the yard at present but that doesn't mean I'd give them even one millisecond of angst. Fanbases are fanbases, each to their own. I just find it amusing that once again, a SHAFT series brings out the worst in people in online forums. Ah, modern fandoms are so hilarious.

P.S. Why the fuss over Pornogatari ep8? What happened?

The similarity ends here, I'm afraid.

On a positive note, love your recent votes. Lots of overlap between the two of us there.

I'm not saying that I personally am a huge fan of Inori. Of the GC girls, I liked Hare a lot more myself. Of all 2011 anime girls, Inori would be a fair ways down for me, below most of the Steins;Gate, Madoka Magica, Penguin Drum, and Hanasaku Iroha girls (amongst some others).

It's just that Inori's personality is similar to NGE's Rei, which I've noticed is a popular personality type for a lot of ISML voters. Two of the three criticisms you applied to Inori can apply to Rei if you consider Gendo Ikari a "complete dirtbag" (as many people do, lol).

I will admit that I did vote for Inori in one arena because I wasn't a big fan of most of her competitors, and yeah, I love her character design. Sorry, but that is a legit factor, LS.

Let me get this straight...Inori is being treated like trash, is dressed like an AV star, supporting a complete dirtbag to an almost yandere extent. And people feel sad for her....

Please explain...It is hard to feel sympathy for someone who chose to do what they're doing...

Now from the results stirring from those AS 2011 Awards, see how there is a very different reaction between the new gen and old school? This is what I've been hinting at in previous discussions.

It's fine. It's just lately...EVERYONE is asking me about it. Particularly here. And I'm sick of having to restate my position over and over. I can talk about it to a certain degree of politeness, but when the frequency I get asked at suddenly goes berserk, I get ticked off.

And I haven't watched a single thing from Winter 2012. I got myself to watch the original Amagami SS and have nearly finished Liar Game live action. After that I may finally have the will to finish Steins;Gate.
