Sadly, we may never again see more True Tears... or that's what I used to think anyway.

Then Okada surprised me by referencing True Tears in Hanasaku Iroha. Clearly PA Works still has some fondness for True Tears, and Okada probably does as well.

So with this in mind, I was curious, what possible future for True Tears would everybody be most interested in? :


1) "Noe Wins!" 2 to 4 episode OVA, retelling the latter half of True Tears through realizing the dreams of ShiNoe shippers.

2) True Tears: The Crying Continues! We do a brief time-skip, focusing on the continuing lives of the main cast. We see how ShinHiromi are doing in their romance, we see Noe try to come to grips with her brother Jun having the hots for her (one way or another ), we might see Noe find a new guy in her life (this is if Jun isn't it ), we could see more of the relationship between the great wingman and Totoum's tragically forgotten girl.

3) Carnival Phantasm, P.A. Works style! We see the casts of HSI, Angel Beats, True Tears, Another, and Canaan all interact with one another. I have a funny plot idea for this that I'll share if anybody is interested.

4) True Tears: The Next Generation! We do a 15 to 20 year time-skip, with Shin and Hiromi as parents, and their child as the main character. That main character then goes through a storyline similar to what Shin did.

5) Any different ideas of your own?

None of the choices are likely, but if I had to choose one with the highest probably 1 will be it since Noe is by far the most popular girl and True Tears has been "largely and unfairly rated" simply because she lost.

I don't see 2 happening cause a sequel won't work considering the anime has a conclusive ending. Yeh it might not be the best outcome for Noe fans, but it's conclusive, finito nonetheless.

3 will never happen in the short term. PA has no where amount of brand power as say Key, Kyoani, ufotable or Typemoon does.

4 could work. Perhaps a whole new cast of characters (next generation) but put in cameos of the older True Tears cast. Actually I would love that. However, I don't really see it coming.

If you're talking about episode 20 I think that's more due to the fact that episode was directed by the director of True Tears.

Or you know a "Aiko wins" OVA even if I'm the only one interested.

As for the "carnival phantasm" idea,I'm not sure that's really possible even if they wanted,PA works has the rights to characters in true tears and HSI but don't think that's the case for Another or Angel beats.

I know Sankaku complex isn't the best of sources but still
What's pretty amazing is that in those list it's very rare that shows older than 2 years old show up.
It's quite surprising that True Tears can show up there despite being 4 years old.So it definatly has a cult following.

Really if they want sales,just do a "noe wins" ova.

A Noe OVA is a no-brainer for sales, though given someone's trolling tendencies, I bet we'll see Aiko first. XD

No. 3 sounds like the best idea. At the very least a HSI/TT crossover.

But True Tears itself is pretty much that already, would be rather redundant to have to go though that a third time for that family.
