Yeah, it doesn’t matter which side of the spectrum he/she is on. Whenever something like this happens during an extremely intensive politically charged times, this is a guaranteed martyrdom.
OTOH, dude already has a pretty good lead...

What a clusterfuck, honestly. It seems he's okay, now - and the guy that stabbed him was arrested on the spot (and, if you believe some reports, was almost lynched, to boot).
Sad and troublesome days, indeed.

So, ugh. That was one of
those
days. My company I've been working at is closing down. Or better said, the main branch in the UK decided to close us down. I'm out of a job on October 31st. I already got an appointment at the unemployment office on Thursday, so there's a chance I'll have a new job soon after this one ends.
All of this happens of course one week before my mom comes to visit from South America. Well, at least I'll get a severance pay of a few thousand Euros (it will be between 4000-5000 Euros after taxes, I'd say) and I'm on normal unemployment benefits for one year. So even if I don't get a new job immediately, I can hold out for a year or two at least before things get dire. I'll definitely try to get something new ASAP, though I could do with one month of not having a full-time job. The one year experience from four years ago was bad enough, I don't want a repeat.

Ah, been there a couple years ago. I felt awful. I later had to temporarily settle for a gig in retail, but was forced to work with many undergrad college kids. I can't say that was the best of my experience. Fortunately, I found a better opportunity and left.

Well, I hope I avoid that. But we'll see how it goes, I guess.

Best of luck to you, Maggie. I think most of us old farts has been there, but I don't think it ever gets any easier, really. I'm sure you'll find something else soon.

Thanks. At least there seems to be a competent coaching agency on the job, which will try to help us find something new. Just got out of the first meeting and after a workshop on Monday there'll be individual coachings in the near future. This seems to help with getting better treatment by the unemployment office, too. At least according to the coach and I'll take him at his word for now.

Welcome. Yeah, this place was originally created for people who wanted to voice their opinion even after mods shut down a thread.
But these days, we talk everything and anything.

Suits me just fine! Mods are asses, but sometimes they do good. Like what earlier, I'd already felt they're too late already.

Pssht, Variable Fighters manufactured by NUN are in every way superior. Just paint one green and have it go gerwalk.
