This was captured by Japanese long-range cameras, which is making more than a few people in China feel very uncomfortable...

Also, the reason why he chose to board a train rather than fly this time...

Because the entire area was sealed and Chinese officials barred all reporters from entering the vicinity. The 'security net' failed, obviously, defeated by civilian Japanese reporters, which is like pouring salt on an open wound.

It's an open secret that China & North Korea hate Japan more so than they will ever do the United States, even if Western news media outlets would like to pretend otherwise.

Oh, and news from North Korea did indicate that Kim was to quit smoking, it would appear that failed, also.

It's funny to see the man's little sister rushing towards him with an ashtray.

Interesting stuff. Oh, well. Unless Kim launches missiles at Japan for this or demands all the anime waifus as compensation, it's a minor embarassment.

Before 2016, North Korea frequently tests its weapons by firing missiles at the Sea of Japan. My relatives overseas often tell me, they are far less frightened of the missiles' actual capabilities than their prone to failure.

Because its the failures that have the risk of making an actual landfall, which, should it happen...

Has that actually happened before? A faulty test missile actually landing in Japan and killing someone?

Not yet. Most failures thus far either exploded during transit or accidentally landed on North Korean cities.

Well, in this case I'd personally handle this like the chance of getting hit by a truck when crossing the road. Which probably is much higher than "missile test gone horribly wrong".

If I wanted to worry myself sick, I'd probably look a few countries to the west of Japan, where two nuclear powers are actively bombing each others territory right now...

Note that they have begin their tests as early as 2005. The last close call was when part of a missile landed near Hokkaido in 2017.

Still, statistically not something to worry about too much.

Then there is the case with numerous Japanese citizens being abducted by North Korean agents. The North Korean government of course, have not entirely come clean on this issue. *Sigh*

Yeah, that is really shit and I can totally understand that the Japanese people are not too happy about that.

Speaking of which, India and Pakistan's little skirmish is certainly escalating into something bigger. That's quite disheartening.

One should note that this is something China always wanted.

Well... Even if they do, the fallout wouldn't hit most of the world, as the engagement theater is quite localized. Silver linings and all...

Actually, there are projections that if they use enough of them, it would catapult enough dust into the stratosphere to get us into a near ice age, which would kill 1-2 billion people by way of starvation. So, yeah...

On the other hand, if this conflict escalates to a full-scale war, which would only end badly for both sides, it will propel China to become the de-facto dominant power in the region.

Not that they aren't already, but this will now remove most of the checks on China's military expansion.

And imagine the money they will make supplying the war-torn region for generations to come...

Well. Let's hope cooler heads prevail, for everyone on Earth.
