Most Gundam games were pretty awful, but there are exceptions.

A few come to mind immediately:

Gihren's Greed - Strategy title, very good soundtrack, covers the One Year War (and beyond).

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny: Generation of CE - Another strategy title in the vein of SRW, but in 3D full-sized models with graphic quality that remains a feast to the eyes even after 15 years.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny: Rengou vs. Z.A.F.T. II - 3rd person VS shooting game. Alongside the previous title, I know I spend a good chunk of time on this. Good times.

Currently playing BattleTech again, with the BattleTech Extended Commanders Edition mod, which opens up the entire Inner Sphere map, extends the timeline from 3025 out to 3057 (which means, yes, the Clans invade), the map changes according to the lore and introduces a crap ton of mechs, including Clan mechs, when they invade in 3049. And a ton of other features as well. It's pretty much a free mega-expansion to the base game. I'll be playing this on and off for months, I presume, since individual fights take quite some time. I'm 200 days into the career I've started (btw, aside from the campaign start, there's also a career mode now, where you just start as a random merc somewhere in the Inner Sphere) and just got my first real new mech, which I grinded out and just bought wholesale from the market, a Warhammer. So it takes quite a while to really build up your mercenary unit as well. Highly recommended mod, if you liked the base game.

LoL what!? Holy shit! The Playstation 5 quietly released under my nose and I only just heard about it now.

Welp, going to wait until next year to pick up, allowing the system to smooth itself of any bugs and uncertainties.

Yeah, still waiting to get a new RTX 30...something until next year, too. Waiting for the 3080 TI with 20 GB to become available. And then actually available, because it will surely be sold out for months. ^^

Welp, as it turns out, the pre-patch event had me three days occupied, now I've done everything I want and it's down to waiting out for Shadowlands to release. I'm torn between spending my vacation playing Shadow or War, BattleTech, Crusader Kings III or maybe Total War: Warhammer II. Not going to go for Stellaris, since they have another economy revamp coming up and I want to wait that out.

I have been thoroughly spoiled by Total War: Warhammer II, so pretty much any future Total War titles would have to either match of exceed it. I am very unimpressed with Troy, which feels like a reskinned Rome Total War. Waiting on Cyberpunk, because looking forward to a single player game that I can engage in at my own pace. I think the lack of interest in developing single player games these days may be an unwise move...

Yeah, Troy has not captivated me at all, but then again I kinda also didn't like Rome II that much anymore (he says, after literally spending a hundred hours in it and Attila ^^... I remember those AAR's I used to give in this very thread years ago). I'd still be up for a Medieval 3, though. I will admit, though, that the diplomacy in Three Kingdoms was so very good that I would hope it gets implemented into any future title.

The main problem I have with most single player RPG titles nowadays is that they are filled with busy work, since the majority are gigantic open worlds. One would that that after The Witcher 3 developers would have learned how to fill those worlds with life and wonder, but instead we got mostly tons of fetch quests, like in Mass Effect: Andromeda or Dragon Age: Inquisition (grantedly, Inquisition came out before Witcher 3).

Well, that Warhammer 2 expansion is about the most exciting releases this year alongside the upcoming Cyberpunk.

Apparently, Call of Duty Black Ops just released. I am skipping this one hard. Their latest WWII title was a major disappointment.

Yeah, very much looking forward to it. I won't be playing it for quite a time, though, since Shadowlands is just coming out on Monday night and Cyberpunk in a few weeks as well.

Just installed Twisted and the Twilight. Of course, we were all warned this expansion would completely rework the Wood Elves, and they weren't kidding.

Wood Elves faction is now unrecognizable. Not too sure if this is a good thing or not, but I will see what happens. Also, getting rid of amber? Two thumbs up!

I had to be talked out of buying a RTX 3090, since they were available yesterday on a reliable German site. Would have come up to 2000 Euros, so that was a bit too high. But I was a few clicks away from it.

I r cheapo, I only buy video cards when they are around $1000 or less.

NORMALLY I'm like this as well, but I kinda want to build a bit to the future. Hoping for a 3080 Ti with 20 GB RAM soon.

Also, I'm really spoiled for stuff I want to do now. WoW: Shadowlands, Cyberpunk 2077, the new patch of Crusader Kings 3, Total War: Warhammer 2 with the new DLC and soon'ish another overhaul for Stellaris. I'm lacking free time, is all. At least I have two extra days free for Cyberpunk next week and then I'm all free between the 24th of December to January 03rd.

The supply shortage and scalping situation in the states is so bad, its actually better for my friend in Tokyo to be able to buy me a RTX3080 and ship it to me. Better to pay what comes out to probably $150-200 yen to dollar retail conversion and ship it over than pay any freaking scalper.

I am not too keen on getting the latest graphics card for my gaming rig, if ever. I always get something that was released prior to the newest device, something that was more or less battle-tested and now made for cheaper. Also definitely not at all hung up on that whole 4k gaming Shenanigan. 1080 is just fine.

One of the problems is (especially in the GPU space) is that a 2080ti cost far more than a 3080 that way out preforms it at several hundred dollars less. But that does not even matter when you cant find any cards anywhere. Unless the hardware is so badly designed, most computer equipment is pretty well built and compatible with a wide variety of other components reliably.

I have the philosophy of go hog wild on a system build that will last several years. My current system is about 5 years old and reflects the components of the period.

- i7-6700k
- 16 gb DDR4
- 1080 8gb
- Mish mash of HDs. A 250gb SSD for my primary system OS. A 3tb conventional drive for storage. A few months ago I added a 1TB M.2 since they were coming down in price.
- I even still have a blue-ray drive I don't even use anymore. Next system wont have any external optical drives.

This system is still more than capable or running COD in 1440.

But I had the itch to build a new system and like ammo and primers, everything is being horded or scalped.

I got I am a bit caught in the whole hype about raytracing and really would have loved to experience Cyberpunk 2077 in the best quality possible.

So, yeah. Remember one week ago, how I "almost" bought an 3090? I just did it for real yesterday. It'll arrive tomorrow (with a new power source, because 750W ain't big enough anymore). I'll install it come early Thursday morning, since tomorrow evening raiding starts in WoW: Shadowlands. If I feel particularly hyped, I'll probably do it that evening after the raid. ^^

My willpower crumbled to dust after I read the review from my main gaming site.
