3 days ago I was in that 120 degree heat. Or 48C to the rest of the world. I had originally planned to fly to Phoenix but decided to road trip it. Good thing, I would never have made it there in time since Southwest cancelled all their flights into Phoenix.

Photobucket is awful. I quit it a long time ago after finding all my images removed (due to inactivity), and its not-very-user-friendly interface. Its recent changed terms pretty much confirms my opinion.

Another online hosting suggestion is Photoimage. Also it's best to have backups (cloud and/or physical) in case there is another hostage situation like Photobucket. : )

Yeah, don't worry. I got my sig images stored on my PC. I think this is the second time I had to change hosts for the since 2009.

Hm. I got permabanned on the Comicbookresources forum. Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, the forum is full of assholes, the general tone is incredibly toxic and the mods are incompetent (at best), on the other hand it's the only current place I know where you can discuss the latest Marvel comics.

And I didn't do anything particularly interesting to merit the ban, either. It's either me (and about five others who have not been banned) saying that Mark Guggenheim is writing X-Men Gold as if he wants to marry Kitty Pryde himself or telling some dude that he is strawmanning the side he disagrees with in a discussion I was in.

No comment on why I was banned, either. I had two temporary bans in the last two years, because there was just one particular obnoxious asshole who pushed all the wrong buttons, but those were at least understandable. This one... pretty out of nowhere.

Oh, well. Life moves on. If somebody knows another board which has a large community of Marvel comics fans to discuss the comics of the week (preferably one not as noxious as the CBR forums), please let me know.

Like I said, actually not very much. It's just that the CBR forums are moderated by a bunch of utter incompetent retards, who are completely fine with people being totally toxic shitholes to each other as long as they talk about comic book characters but OH NO YOU SAID SOMETHING UNTOWARD TO ANOTHER MEMBER! PERMABAN!!!

And the comment about which I presume I got banned was not really not even personal. I just said that some guy was strawmanning fans of Kitty Pryde, because that was what he was doing. I didn't swear, I didn't get personal, just calling out a strawman.

It's possible it could be instead because I was very unhappy with the latest from the current writer of X-Men Gold, Mark Guggenheim. But calling someone a bad writer for shitty writing is also not a personal attack, but a pointed critique of their style.

Also, I was far from alone in that regard, although not for the same reasons as the others.

Rather the contrary. Kitty Pryde is team leader for an X-Men team in X-Men Gold. Some people are upset because they dislike anyone leading an X-Mean team who isn't Cyclops or Storm. Some (righty this time) believe that the writer, Mark Guggenheim, is focusing too much on Kitty on expense of the other team members, veterans like Storm, Old Man Logan, Nightcrawler, Rachel Grey and Colossus.

The problem is, instead of focusing their criticism on the writing or the writer, a lot of those people rather started slagging Kitty Pryde as a character. As a fan of her, I decided to argue against that.

At the same time, Guggenheim is trying to get Kitty and Colossus together again romantically, a move opposed by about 95% of fans, because been there, done that, didn't work out, stop writing Colossus as some stalker who can't let go, Guggenheim. In the latest issue Colossus popped The Question to Kitty and, uh, fan reaction was mostly negative. Except for two or three people who started argueing the most stupid shit, clearly trolling for the lulz. But since they kept it to the characters, the moderators don't give a shit about their trolling. That's where I called someone out for strawmanning, and that apparently was just too much for whomever was the mod at the time.

Alright, I'm off to my big vacation for this year (and the last as well), visiting my parents, relatives and friends in Paraguay for the next three weeks. I still have one night shift before that, but when I get up tomorrow in the early afternoon, it's just taking a shower, packing up the toothbrush into the rest of the luggage and then a friend will drive me to the airport.

I probably will have access to slow internet, so I won't be completely absent, but no keeping up with current series. At least I'll be back for the last episode of Re:Creators, but I'll miss the Game of Thrones finale.

Oh, well. All worth it to see my second homeland and my dearest people again.
