This story is a mix between Warhammer 40k and any generic science fiction story. To ease the introduction and use of different styles of character, the Imperium is going to be played as far more tolerant than the offical canon. Otherwise, this picks up where the old Sci-Fi thread left off, with the characters aboard an orbital battleship and the planet beginning to rebel for unknown reasons. Use either 40k weapons, gear, backstory, etc. or feel free to make up your own; I'd prefer this didn't turn into a crossover though.

Copius is one of the many civilized worlds in the Imperium’s control. It is self sufficient in both food and water, and has a considerable amount of resources in the form of a pair of thick asteroid belts that orbit the sun of the Copian system, Tetra. Several cities, small compared to a Hive, house millions of people, usually at a natural harbor or river mouth. The largest segment of the population lives in the sprawling urban complexes which span out from major cities. Interiors of the planet’s five continents are filled with agricultural settlements surrounded by fields which may span hundreds of miles.
The planet was colonized prior to the Great Crusades, and subjected to Imperial rule with little trouble. Nothing remains of Copius’ character prior to the Imperium’s arrival. The planet has a relatively low population, but is kept at the bleeding edge of technology thanks to an Adeptus Mechanicus facility in the northern hemisphere. This facility, run by the Legio Cybernetica, produces a variety of completely mechanical servitors dubbed “droids” by the Tech-priests who maintain them.
These machines are uniquely capable compared to their servitor counterparts; some droids have a series of conscious thought equivalent to that of a human, though most are similar to animals in intelligence. Since Copius is the first, and so far only, center of production for these technological marvels, it is the only place where such creations are seen with any regularity. Indeed, on Copius the droids have all but replaced biologically-based servitor units, much to the concern of some within the Imperium. Rumors that the droids are made from techno-magic stolen from Xenos such as the Tau are officially denied, but the Guard regiments from Copius who bring combat-droids with them on their journeys refer to them as “drones”, the term for Tau automatons.
The citizen of Copius enjoys a standard of living unbeknownst to even many nobles on more crowded Hive worlds. Even rural farming families have the services of at least a single general-purpose droid, and city dwellers have guaranteed access to fresh food and water, something unknown on many Imperial worlds. The ruling elite of Copius have legions of ornate and highly specialized droids; they can be discerned from the average citizen by their shining, bejeweled auto-chairs, droids for the sole purpose of removing the need for the rider to walk. The wealthy have access to juvenat processes, extending their youth and vitality for sometimes hundreds of years. The luxurious style of life on Copius has worried some in the Ecclesiarchy and the Inquisition, who point out the tendencies of people in such conditions to create secretive cults that worship Chaos, particularly Slaanesh.
Copius does not have a particularly large tithe so far as troops go, offering up to approximately twelve million soldiers of the fifty million-strong PDF, referred to as the Militia, to every collection. Copian regiments, while not of the same base stock as a Cadian or Catachan regiment, are well trained and armed with high-tech gear that may rival Skitarii weaponry. Small amounts of food and water are also collected with every tithe, but the main contribution of Copius is the droid: several blueprints and manufacturing templates have been sent to major forge worlds, as well as millions upon millions of every kind of automaton from utilitarian to combat droids. Many of the more radical sections of the Adeptus Mechanicus hope to replace servitor units entirely with these new machines, while even conservative Magi must admit their superiority over their biological counterparts.
