It's interesting what happens when you don't leave your house after more than a year indoors...
I have not passed through the front door of my place since January 2015. During all this time I realized that trying to live
with an injured leg was a terrible idea, and instead live like I have an injured leg, and prioritizing letting it heal instead of using it.
Since I didn't know how long it would take, I figured why not let my beard grow out? I know I have no intentions of ever staying indoors for 1.5 years again, let's see how long my beard can grow, and grow it did to over 6 inches at it's longest strands. Ah, Yukiko loves to tug at my beard
(by the way, I had to cut my beard and trim my mustache after taking these pics. No way I was going to go out looking like that XD)
For once, I actually wanted to see how much has changed since I last went out. The sky! The tree's! The people! The..... traffic
Have a look at this trike. A common, very important part of this country, it can do anything, from transporting people, to.... furniture! While this isn't the first time I've seen such a thing, it still amazes me every time how such a small little bike could carry 2 people, a cabinet and the cab car.
Been a while since I've seen those towers. They light up at night.
Of course, having been confined indoors for so long, I soon felt the limitations of my strength. My destination was 3 floors up and half of Megamall's building B, a distance I just couldn't cover on crutches. Enter the wheelchair! Security though had to give me a push the whole way, apparently as an anti-theft measure for the wheelchair. I guess people accidentally took them out of the mall one too many times. And yes, I wear those kind of sunglasses even indoors, and yes I am practically the only person in this country who wears that particular design, what one passerby said, "Cyclops" glasses, so if you do see those, you'll know who it is
What? I have to hide my averting gazes so that the girls don't catch me ogling their glorious legs
The destination was Chili's, and while the steak seemed too much for me, I settled for a grilled steak Quesadilla with a Calamari side. Good stuff!
There was one other reason why I chose to go out on June 30th. I was growing increasingly tired of my Telco for being incredibly inept at dealing with the network issues surrounding their 3G network, going so far as to rant on my blog, something I don't do often. I figured if their 3G network was so broken, it's time I level up to 4G. By the way, this country advertises it as LTE, but it is so not LTE, and instead 4G masquerading as LTE so as to keep their silly costs down by not offering full power LTE.
Normally, I'd ask my brother to buy it for me while I stayed in the comfort of home like every other time, but I wanted to make this a personal mission. Head directly to the Telco's store in the mall, and get the LTE wifi router directly from them, and a couple of extra LTE sim's just in case (this country has a bad habit of reusing old numbers, even from offending accounts, giving you a chance to get that persons old number, and also getting their headaches). 4G is soooooo much faster, my anime takes single digit minutes to download instead of the 30min-1 hour it used to take
for a single episode. More importantly, the upload is 300 times faster than on a 3G network in my area.
I don't know when the next time will be when I step into the great outdoors, but I've projected my leg to be usable before the year's end, so hopefully I'll be out more often, maybe bump into a cute girl, we fall to the ground, I catch a glimpse of her pantsu, she slaps me, I apologize, her parents watch the whole thing and insist I marry her to take responsibility..... who knows, I've stayed indoor for 1.5 years, stranger things can happen
