New Mortal Kombat movie for 2021.



Not very excited. They need to stop that bull$h!t with 'all cultures around the world blah blah blah'...

Anyway, I have a great fondness for the original Mortal Kombat movie, with all its goofiness. But Christopher Lambert was great as Raiden and I really, really love the performance of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung. Good times.

Otherwise, nothing really of note happening in terms of movies or TV. I'm watching Sharpe's Rifles on Amazon Prime. Regretfully they only have the German dub, which is good quality (as with most German dubbing), but I miss Sean Beans growly natural voice. Also watching Gotham on Netflix, which has a nice metaplot and interesting characters. Also five full seasons off 22 episodes and I'm still in season one after two weeks.

And, of course, Wandavision, which is good stuff. I like the characters well enough, but none of them are my favorites, so the highpoints are the general story, watching Paul Bethany act (whom I really like as an actor) and, hopefully, see the introduction of mutants into the MCU happen. Also, the lady who plays Monica Rambeau (i.e. Photon or, for some time in the comics, Captain Marvel) is doing a good job.

So Monster Hunter is out. My sentiment of that movie is the same when I saw the trailer:

WHY!?

Good question, which I can't answer, because I can't see it. Stupid COVID. <sigh>

So my impression:

Bad $h!t cosplay + steampunk fantasy + Starship Troopers + Aliens

Yeah, it's on "streaming services"... however not on Netflix, Amazon Prime nor Disney+ in Germany. And I don't plan on getting 10 more streaming services, one from each movie studio. Which, mostly, are not even available over here.

So, I don't get to see it, until one of the other three services gets it for them.

Uuuuuh... supposedly the movie will start in German cinemas on January 22nd, 2022.

Honestly, whenever cinemas reopen for good, we will get crushed under eminently watcheable movies week after week for about a year.

Welp, I can get Bill & Ted 3 on Amazon Prime for 4 Euros. Guess I gonna watch it soon!

Probably the only anime adaptation that was ever done well.

Yeah, that actually has blipped up radars here in the west.

Not only that. This Jinchu Arc from the manga has never been properly adapted into anime before (the Seisouhen OVA only contains the cliff notes of the events) making this RK Final movie outdoing the anime.

Can't wait to finally see the event adapted on screen.

The Seisouhen OVA was f*&king awful.

Also, release this already!

Since my trusted reviewers Dan, Chris & Jeremy said that Snyder Cut is at least decent........


I decided to watch it and........... I'm actually very entertained, by a Snyder Movie, which I haven't experienced since Watchmen & Owls of Gahoole. With this Justice League, it's almost like Snyder decided to go back to use all the sensibilities of 300 & Watchmen and mash it into this movie instead of the dour MoS or the lifeless BvS.

On one hand, there's no CGI-covered mustache, no Flash lousily pushing car during the climactic battle and no abrupt opening act where Batman just hunts Parademon outta nowhere and the Parademon revealed the Mother Boxes outta nowhere. Cyborg is so fleshed out that he becomes a real character. Steppenwolf is now extra-cool. Ares & Zeus are also pretty cool in their limited screentime during the flashback and other cool things I won't spoil. And the additional runtime actually improve the movie overall.

On the other hand, there are also still stupid things like the Amazons sacrificed themselves to seal Steppenwolf in a building that's already breached from the top. WTF were they thinking? Did they think that Steppen couldn't just hop through it? Aquaman casually revealing that Bruce Wayne is Batman in front of a crowd of people. The Justice League also still forgot about the Mother Box at some point which, in this cut, actually cost a life. There are other stupidities but I won't spoil it and also I'm too lazy to write it.

But all in all, the Snyder Cut turned out to be a decent movie that paced quite well for a 4-hour movie and actually prety entertaining which is saying something since I stopped enjoying Snyder movies since Sucker Punch.

Yeah, seems the movie is at least decent. I'll have to see where I can see even it, since the theaters are still closed here and most of the movie studios seem to be releasing their stuff on their own platforms, which are not even available here in Germany. Really starting to feel like its 1980 again with the distribution model...

Sucker Punch was actually the first movie from Snyder which I hated the shit out of. Still do. A completely misogynistic piece of crap. He might as well have put blow-up dolls on the screen.

Yeah, Sucker Punch might as well be a music video about Snyder's fever dream coz the story is a waste of time.

I found the story actively offensive.
