Lolita Fashion;
Lolita is the most 'elegant' alternative fashion; but newbie beware! Some lolis aren't friendly and will bitch you out if you dare show your stupid!
But don't be afraid! If you brush up on articals like this one, you're sure to learn enough about the fashion to at least avoid the elitist lolitas' last nerve.
If you're completley new to lolita fashion, I suggest reading the basics section before going anywhere else--then check out the resources for where to shop for loli clothing if you're still interested. For the more intermediate to advanced, I suggest reading 'In Depth', and maybe looking at the resources if you're looking for a new store ;D
Lolita Styles;
Sweet Lolita: Pretty obvious isn't it? Sweet, sugar, cupcakes, cutesy! If your loli induces a tooth ache, it's sweet. Pastels colors are common, pink, white, light colors. There's never enough lace or frill it seems for a sweet loli.
Gothic Lolita Gothic lolita mixes lolita with the Western idea of goth, but they are still totally separate entities. Black and white are going to be the most common colors. This is also probably the only division where heavy makeup is really acceptable.
Country Lolita: Hick meets loli! Straw hats and floral prints. Super cute! Best outfit for picnics is the common opinion.
Classic Lolita: This is what Lolita-chan does after she's grown up. Muted colors and longer skirts make for a more “grown up” look. The loli-ness of this is disputed, but it is feminine, elegant, and usually childish enough.
Punk Lolita: Hard to do! It's a cross between western punk and lolita—two very contradicting trains of thought collide in this fashion. Huge, clunky boots, plaid, spikes and chains meet cute, frilly, and adorable. Good luck.
Wa/Qi Lolita: Wa Loli incorporates the kimono into the lolita style, most often by cutting up the bottom and widening it to accommodate a petticoat. Qi loli is based on the Chinese qipao, also cut and widened to accommodate a petticoat.
