So some random thoughts:


STD S3 Finale: Please make it the end of Star Trek Discovery. This series made no sense. Spock suddenly having a sister came out of nowhere. I wonder if S3 was an attempt to edit Michael out of mainstream Star Trek forever.

Come Play: Somewhat original concept of a horror film in that monsters are summoned through our electronic devices as opposed to other means. Though the characters remain your standard American horror protagonists where they usually flee from the first sight of trouble as opposed to actually fighting to survive. That is, even after the monster demonstrated the necessity to abide by real-world physics once summoned to the material realm (a la Warhammer). Not asking the characters to shoot it in the absence of a readily available firearm, but I dunno... throw things at it!

Cobra Kai S3: Another good season, albeit predictable. It's nice to see the return of Ali Mills, that is until you realize said actress, Elisabeth Shue, also played Madelyn Stillwell from The Boys... ugh...

Since I don't watch The Boys (for reasons already explained months ago), I didn't have that reaction and was just happy for the really awesome appearance by her. Also, I found Daniels reunion with Kumiko and Chozen even better! Honk! Really loved Cobra Kai S3.

STD S3: Yeaaaaah. As always I hated the hyperfocus on Poochie, the endless declarations that she is the bestest character everrrrr by multiple other characters on the show got my eyes almost rolling out of my head. The idea to rebuild the Federation after a galaxy-wide catastrophe was actually good, but it really petered out towards the end of the season, replaced by hatched-faced Orion woman and the weird plot with the Kelpian dude. Also lots of virtue signaling by the writers as well. Really a bad show. I fear a fourth season has already been greenlit. I guess more "OMG, Captain, you're the bestest human being ever of all time" declarations will be forthcoming. <lesigh>

Also, Michael does not learn, ever.

Where is her character development? She is always making the same dumb impulsive fuckery only to be saved by some sort of luck or coincidence. That's not character building...

Oh, and all characters introduced in S1 & S2 can piss-all, because their involvement would actually commit permanent damage to the ST-verse. Great job, writers!

It's funny when Daniel returned to Japan to speak with the investors there, the show had to be careful not to use the actual Toyota name (but something very close), even though Daniel's own dealership had tons of Toyota cars visible.

Yeah, can't really add much to what you already said about STD. The acronym of the series fits the bill so well...

Yeah, that was a bit cringe, whenever they mentioned "Doyoma". Still, I hope Kumiko and Chozen somehow turn up in season four, I really loved their appearance.

Killing Watanabe's character in the 2nd movie was a very dumb idea.

Monsterverse has a habit of killing likeable characters for no fucking reason:
Bryan Cranston
John Goodman
Ken Watanabe

Now, GvK already ran out of likeable characters to kill

Also, there's no fuckin' way Goji & Kong are able to stand on that aircraft carrier without it toppling over & sink.

Yep, I do not recognize anyone from Godzilla vs Kong, and I cannot say if I care for any of their well-being in the movie. Actually, I just saw the trailer, and... yeah, the plot sounds stupid (the myths are real!?), and I don't care if any of them die. But it makes for cool video game, though.



Also, Vikings Season Six wrapped up with ten more episodes, though it is dangerously treading fantasy history. Certain characters fought each other despite never having actually met in recorded history, places where the characters went but should have never been, characters who died in the wrong place at the wrong time, or fought wars that never occurred. It is also noteworthy that the Vikings in the show wear neither armor nor helmets, despite historical accounts that say otherwise. Instead, we see mostly hairy people LARPing. Ah well, still enjoyable though.

I imagine. I checked out somewhen in season one, because nobody really was sympathetic to me. ^^

I have a feeling this show is going to drag on until the rise of Vilhjalmr (William) the Conqueror. Well whatever, it is only about another hundred years, right?

On the other hand, we have Vinland Saga, which is far more accurate in its depiction of the period than this show.

Yeah, also in the direction that none of the characters are really sympathic. But it was an impressive show, even if the English amounted to nothing more than bloodbags to be violently punctured by the Viking characters.

The only characters in the show I cared about were Floki and Bjorn Ironside, because they were the only non-@$$holes in the show!

The English were punching bags for a very, very long time... actually, ever since the Roman Empire until pretty much the end of the Viking age...

Yeah, but how they just were bloodbags to pop for guys like Thorkell was a bit much. ^^

So with the end to 2020, there were couple high-grossing movies. Surprisingly, the highest grossing movie of 2020 is actually a Chinese film, the infamous Eight Hundred, which I recently watched. Also ironic, if you think about it.

They seriously toned down the more ridiculous nationalistic notions in the movie, then again, this is also a movie depicting the previous Nationalist regime as opposed to the current Communist one. Even for those unfamiliar with the recent history of China, the political elbowing in this film is so obvious that you can pick up a boulder and throw at it.

Otherwise, the movie is actually quite good. Action sequences are decent, no bored moments, careful depiction of period equipment and thankfully, a serious lack of subliminal messaging courtesy of the CC fucking P.
