So with the end to 2020, there were couple high-grossing movies. Surprisingly, the highest grossing movie of 2020 is actually a Chinese film, the infamous
Eight Hundred, which I recently watched. Also ironic, if you think about it.
They seriously toned down the more ridiculous nationalistic notions in the movie, then again, this is also a movie depicting the previous Nationalist regime as opposed to the current Communist one. Even for those unfamiliar with the recent history of China, the political elbowing in this film is so obvious that you can pick up a boulder and throw at it.
Otherwise, the movie is actually quite good. Action sequences are decent, no bored moments, careful depiction of period equipment and thankfully, a serious lack of subliminal messaging courtesy of the CC fucking P.
