Eh, I still dislike the amber mechanic.

I'll have to see who I play after the high elves. Kinda itching for a play with Tyrion, but kinda been there, done that. Maybe I'll even play something else for a bit, still haven't played the new Master of Orion or Endless Space 2. Or maybe another try at Stellaris.

I'm on turn 200 and in about 20 or 30 turns the entire new world and Ulthuan will belong to me. Currently, Archaon is invading the old world (I did a quick beatdown of the chaos helper troops in my corner of the map), so at least he is keeping the vampires occupied. My allied rat-people are doing still well, although their share of chaos troops spawned in the middle of their back country. They'll loose a few settlements before they will be able to kill them off. Between the two of us, I foresee a decent victory against the vampires, although I am not looking forward to 100+ turns of just fighting the undead. At least they don't have archers! ^^

Yeah, the amber mechanic suck hardcore. But if you can keep Elven arrows flying, its a sight to behold. I don't care what you throw at them, weaker units would just melt before they even reach the Elven battleline.

Yeah, its that scary, and quite refreshing now that I am trying them out again after a long time.

I can imagine. They felt a bit too squishy for my taste, since I did not get any wood spirit troops (since I disliked spending amber on them).

I'm seriously considering just razing everything in the old world to the ground, except the major settlements I need (maybe also not their support settlements), since it's 100 regions and I'd have to cleanse them completely from vampire corruption. Ugh.

I have always wondered if the Skaven has any popularity on the tabletop at all. In the Games Workshop store I used to visit (they have since then closed), I have never seen them on display or promptly advertised on their website.

These rat people are probably the most abhorrent set of kits I have ever seen, seemingly a collection of everything repulsive. I would have been happier if they were a DLC, for those few who find them appealing.

On the other hand, give us Undead Kingdoms already!

Oh, they definitely have their fans. ^^ And I think the mummies or whatever are the next race DLC.

Okay, the rats were no opponent to the vamps. Hence, I broke my military alliance with them and am pumping something like 50 influence every turn into the vampires. I'm already at a point where I have peace with them and a non-aggression pact (only took me a bribe of about 90% of my cash reserves, coming to about 2.000.000 gold pieces), but so far any further advance is eluding me, even with 170 positive standing with them. Of course they own 50 more settlements than me, but I'll keep at it. After the grueling campaign to wipe out the Dark Elves, I'm more than ready to finish this game. After I got my military alliance with Von Karstein, I'll send over a military expedition to wipe out Archaon, maybe resettle any of the major settlements needed for the large victory, then it's off to play something else for a while. ^^

Scratch that. Controlling the entire new world and Ulthuan only gives me four of the eight settlements needed for the short victory. Guess it's kissing Vampire ass or the most grueling war of slowly grinding through the old world imaginable.

I find thy faith in the Rat-People... disturbing...

On another note, I went and upgraded my Wood Elven tree to level five. To my surprise, I won the campaign. No fuss no muss, I did not have to defeat Chaos or kill the Ever Chosen. I just... won.

Well, that was easy... But I will continue the campaign, because I have not had enough of the Old world just yet.

Yeah, Wood Elves kept their old victory condition, although it got much more expensive.

Sheesh. How many hours per day do you put into the game to get this quickly to a second win? Or do you autoresolve all combats? To be honest, I do as well if the balance of power is very much in my favor. ^^

Phew, I needn't have worried that I would run out of influence, the Vampire Courts also took vast amounts of money as a bribe. I'm in a military alliance with them and after they finally gave me military access, I am not one turn away from kicking Archaons butt. Now, if only the vamps could conquer Khemri, where Squeeg is having his last hold-out city and which, of course, is part of the victory condition, then I could get on and do something else with my life. Fricking greedy vampires took about four million more gold of bribes before they accepted the treaties I was trying to get. And that is without the tribute of 60000 gold I paid them every month until they were happy enough to even think about accepting the treaties. Now it's down to 8000 a month to keep their happyness up until I've won the game. ^^

I'm not sure what to play next. A friend of mine has trying to sell me on Fractured Space for a long time, but I also am thinking about trying to do a fanatical purifier run through Stellaris, with Nazi Space Elves of course.

With Wood Elves, a lot of sieges might as well be on Auto-Resolve. I only do real battles when powers are equal, less or if I have a 'slight' advantage. I don't want to have an entire unit wiped out, see.

The High Elves campaign took considerably longer, though.

Yeah, anytime a real fight was on, I played them as normal. Sieges with a 90/10 advantage were on autoresolve. I think I only lost an entire unit, with lord and hero, once. That was a sea battle which I couldn't avoid and that is on autoresolve, anyway.

Well, I expected the Tree-Huggers to last longer, but who knew the victory conditions were the same as before? So I just did what I did... last time...

OTOH, I am waiting on Ariel and the EverQueen. They need to be added!

Actually, they updated the victory conditions for Wood Elves in the way that you need 200 amber (up from 100) for the level five tree.

Ariel is the Queen and avatar of Isha of the Wood Elves, and Alarielle is the Everqueen and represents Isha for the High Elves. Confused? I bet you are!

Dark Elves already has a queen... so they are exempt.

Alright, alright. Elves everywhere! ^^

BTW, unless I am mistaken, high elves are immortal? So, the Moral Empires campaign will have been won between the two immortal races of the current game.

Also, as a third option to what I could do next, is level some of my alts in World of Warcraft to 110, which I've been putting off for way too long. No excuse anymore, aside from "Bleh..." ^^

Well, the Mortal Empires campaign was supposed to bring upon the End-Times, as in, Age of Sigmar (the new Tabletop to replace Warhammer fantasy... bleh). Though I played the Tree-Huggers because I wanted to see if there were any special dialogues between Wood Elves, High Elves and Dark Elves...

Unfortunately, I've not heard any.

... Sigh, can't play MMOs anymore.

Kinda the same with me, except WoW. I was trying to get into Wildstar, played around quite awhile with Star Wars: The Old Republic, was seriously thinking about starting Final Fantasy 14 and had a few weeks in Guild Wars 2. World of Warcraft simply has the something special other MMO's don't have which draws me back to it, every time.

Oh and apparently they'll be totally revamping Stellaris soon, which puts kind of a dampener on my desire to start another try until that has happened. Anyway, I'll finish off the High Elves campaign when I get back home from work in a few hours.

And I'm bloody done. 279 turns, 115 settlements, 40 regions, 89 wars declared, 19 millions gold total income, 22 lords recruited, 234 lords killed, 4195 units destroyed, 615 lost, 395 battles in total, 32 fought personally. ^^ 348 victories, 47 defeats, of those only two in land battles, most in minor siege battles.

Urk, leveling in Legion still is boring as hell. Or maybe Demon Hunter is just not my class.

Sooo. Now the choice is between:

- Master of Orion (new version)
- Endless Space 2
- Stellaris

All 4X strategy. Guess I gotta see if I want to try something new or familiar. Guess I might also take a swing at Fractured Space.

Checking out the Tree-Huggers again...

Turns out Oreo Orion and Durthu play vastly differently. Durthu is pretty much easy mode. Early sieges with Durthu is almost a guaranteed win, and having a lot of heavy Tree-men sure helps in the assault department. An area which Wood Elves lack significantly.
