XD since we have the Shirley thread, no one has been posting here, but there hasnt been a lot of ShirLulu talk on her thread either! I mean, there's been some, but I miss this club being active too. Hmm, maybe I'll go look for more AMVs...

Ha ha, well just be glad we have a Shirley thread at all Actually, we're not really supposed to ship on the Shirley thread, but we can probably get away with it every now and then. So if anyone has any doubts this would definitely be place to post anything majorly Shirlulu related (until the RT opens back up)

I'm extremely glad we have a Shirley thread! and I know since its Shirley's thread, we arent really supposed to ship too much, but I was just wondering why it seemed that we stopped posting here.

Yeah, pretty much what fishfood said. I'm all for Shirley discussion and will be the first to jump in, but most of the time I just can't think of anything to talk about (nothing that isn't set in stone or hasn't been beaten to death anyway) Also, I don't like double posting so I usually won't say anything on a thread if I was the last person to post, unless it's been a really long while.

Yeah, it's kind of unfortunate that there really isn't much that hasn't been talked about. =(

well if there's nothing to talk then i'll see you all when R3 is coming...

It's been quite a while since I've been here, but wow, seriously? 40 pages? I'm so glad the Shirlulu spirit has been kept alive. Honestly, I sorta feel like a bad fan, having run away for so long.

lol, so this is supposed to be the thread for shipping, not the character thread? >.< whoops. I kinda feel more comfortable in the main forum, though, 'cause I really do believe Shirlulu has a place and want people to know it (don't know if I'd be up to diving into another romance thread though... ).

Anyway, it seems I've missed a ton of supplementary material while I've been gone. Probably fanart too. I don't know if I really mind, though; CG is just too huge.

A bit earlier in this thread people were talking about similar romances to Shirlulu, and similar character archetypes. I have to say I think I found a really good one, and that would be Detective Conan (this one's huge too, but at least that's in terms of the main material, rather than supplementary stuff). Although of course there are character differences (Shirley and Ran are kinda similar, but Shinichi is a standard hero unlike Lelouch, though just as intelligent and capable) the underlying feelings and mechanics of the main romance echoes Shirlulu so much I was kinda shocked. That this will be the final couple is pretty much a done deal, and I'm betting on a happy ending too, though Detective Conan hasn't entered its final sequences yet. If any of you guys do decide to check it out, I'd recommend the manga, as it's shorter and the original (i.e. no filler or botched adaptation decisions, and better pacing).

Anyway, I'm glad to be back, and I think I'll at least try to keep up with this and the Shirley thread for now.

Argh, Detective Conan is so loooong though..

:P Hahaha yeah, it really is, but I think it's good enough to justify it. There's no reason to have to read it all at once, though; actually it's kinda annoying having to wait every week for new chapters, so taking it slow might even be a good idea.

Good to see you on the Shirlulu group as well Sol. And don't worry about having been gone for so long. We're certainly not going to blame you for having a life outside of Code Geass

Also, as I said, I think it's okay that we can discuss Shirlulu to a certain extent on the Shirley Thread since, after all, her love for Lelouch was a huge part of her character. It's just that we can't go off the wall and get in everyone's faces with Shirlulu love (like the Kalulus do :P Nah, they've actually been pretty good about that lately) and we certainly don't want to get into any nasty arguments.

Oh, and I wouldn't worry about supplementary material. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a lot of it in regard to Shirley But there is her character poem (which I don't have a link for) as well as a nice little group pic that shows Shirley with her arm around Lelouch's.

Oh, and I've seen the first 30-40 episodes of Detective Conan and I do agree that Shinichi and Ran's relationship do share some similarities to Lelouch and Shirley (and yeah, the series is long) Unfortunately though, I'm not sure if I could watch/read the whole series because, while the show is very clever with some very puzzling mysteries, sometimes I think it's just downright silly. I mean, sometimes these people commit murders for the most ridiculous reasons. Also, Shinichi and the gang must be bad luck, because it's like wherever they go somebody dies Well, it still was a pretty good show overall. Eh, who knows, maybe I will pick it up again some day.

Ah, I see how that would make sense from a forum moderation standpoint (not getting into other people's faces). To be honest, that is a bit of a dampener for me, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing (actually, it was exhaustion from the continued effort of getting into people's faces about stuff like Lelouch being dead and Shirlulu being the 'winner' that drove me away back then, so I suppose I could afford to calm down).

As for Detective Conan, I gotta admit that the main reason I'm following it is for the romance :P. That's why, although I do think the tricks and murders are interesting in their own right, I suppose I don't mind things like Conan bumping up the murder rate like 50% wherever he goes. I guess what I was really trying to offer by bringing up Detective Conan is the prospect of a definately canon pairing with the same kind of girl: faithful, loving, and simply meant to be (Shinichi's got some of the same sort of issues as Lelouch with a Haibara/C.C. character telling him to keep Ran/Shirley out of his other life to keep her safe, but the difference would be that Shinichi stands for absolute, uncompromising justice, so there's no way he'd allow him and Ran not to be living happily together by the end.).

Yeah, I'll admit that Shinichi/Ran does have its similarities to to Lelouch/Shirley, and that is really what I was asking. I too did like that angle from the show and thought their relationship was really cute. Maybe some day when/if it does finish, I'll pick it back up and at least see how it ended for them.

Well, I haven't been here for awhile too. I would like to post in here more. Show this pairing some love. ^_^
