Thanks to Katapan I've got a few tidbits from an Okada interview back in october:
- I trust my intuition to write my scripts.
- I'm often told that my scripts feel quite 'raw', but that's probably because I hate conversations filled with lies myself.
- If I had to pick one, rather than the viewers, I'd say that I write my scripts keeping in mind that I have to get the anime staff excited. I want to team up with a director who understands that.
- I read my scripts out loud.
- In my dialogues, I put much attention into making the characters give each other the cue. (Literally: she says she treasures the "catchball-like" nature of conversations.)
- I like miserable characters who seek something but cannot obtain it.
- I want to write scripts that have a (distinct) smell.
- Even though I write scripts, I think I should be able to handle a job like enshutsu. (Usually translated as 'episode/unit director', more details over
there.)
- I want to write scripts that can traumatize the watchers.
And thanks to Xezexal for linking to an /a/ thread with a few aquarion evol trivia:
Mari went overboard (= too dirty/erotic) for the lyrics in the song that streams along the special training (which has not aired and will be in the BD) and so they were rejected.
Something interesting about "KUSO ONNA" (= smelly wench):
Mari has been called that a lot when she was writing the scenario, she liked it, and so they decided to make Kagura say it in the actual show.
Mari is an avid Nicovideo user (nico-chuu for those of you who know that word). She checks the comments on the livestream on Nicovideo every episode.
Mari did not give the idea for the TEAR CLOTHES = MORE SENSITIVE TO ENVIRONMENT episode.
