Guys, you do realize that the vast majority of people actually have mild to almost no problems at all with the movie, right? On IMDB, which is a bit more difficult to "
hack" than Rotten Tomatoes, the score for the movie sits at 7,6/10 (with a little bit over 224k votes).
The ones who do complain mostly comprise the vocal minority, most of the time. You
do realize that, I hope. Of course, you can keep picking it apart all you want, but it's still
VERY subjective and not at all a "
definitive statement", either way.
Also: of course Rian Johnson wasn't simply afforded "
carte blanche" - that's not how Lucasfilm does things (just ask Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, or Colin Trevorrow) - the story group must have had at least a broad stroke of where they wanted the story to go, as defined by themselves or J.J., himself.
Now, he'll come back and finish what he, himself, started.
