Finally saw The Shape of Water and it’s my favorite of the Oscars’ hopefuls, as I suspected. Just lovely, in all respects. Probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but it rings almost all of my bells.

And Ridley Scott thought he was going to win something with Blade Runner 2049...

Eh, the Oscars. The people there look for different things in movies than I do, most of the time. Still, The Return of the King won all the Oscars for the trilogy.

On that note, I've come to realize that some media which we hoped would be the new standard (i.e. The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Witcher 3) were in fact masterpieces which other companies are simply not capable of replicating in terms of quality. It's a bit disappointing, yet on the other hand it makes me happy to have witnessed those masterpieces when they came out.

And isn't that all we can truly hope for?

Peter Jackson, make The Silmarillion, nao!

Was just looking over the list of nominees and then I just discovered that Suicide Squad won an Oscar... that was totally out of the blue, from the left field, unexpected, and... I still cannot believe it.

And yeah, I am a bit late on that discovery, obviously...

Then again, Oscars? Pffft.

I can't watch those blowhards at the Oscars anymore.

I think the last time the Oscars proved to be legitimate was when Return of the King took home over a dozen of them.

On another note, what do people think of the actress playing Domino in Deadpool 2? I personally don't like the hair...

I'm one of those grumpy people who thinks comic book characters in movies should resemble their comic counterparts. So making her a black lady is... eh.

Ehh, me too. But if they must... at least do the hair man, do the damn hair!

Nick Fury is probably the only comic book character race lift I have ever come to accept...

Thats one of the reasons why I just cannot stand Japanese live adaptations of many works. They look like expensive cosplay parties, and the usual bad acting does not help.

I don't care for comic book likeness being perfect - if the spirit is kept the same. I mean, look at the good X-Men movies (the good ones, please). You can't argue with me that Hugh Jackman didn't embody Wolverine perfectly - in some parts of those movies, at least. And all throughout Logan.

And he did not look anything like the Wolverine I have come to know in decades of comics, at the time he was announced, way back in the day. So, I don't really care anymore - if the movie turns out to be good. The story is king. If not, the casting (and the likeness of the actors themselves) is just another thing to be annoyed about.

PS.: Domino's hair is awesome. Are you fucking kidding me?

Well, it was difficult to find a muscle-bound male 4' 11" in height with a hunchback and full of body hair... So they had to improvise with Jackman.

Ew, dude, it looks like a flea nest. Ew, pfft, pfft!

Aside from the obvious height difference, I always thought Jackman made a pretty decent Logan in the looks department. Not sure how you think he did not, unless you are thinking about super-deformed 90's comics Logan. ^^
