In the last part, it felt more like someone was just sitting behind the scenes pressing a switch.
Examples: the chandelier, the pillar; the only thing unexpected was that the unknown kid with asthma was one of the five survivors.
Speaking of 'survivors', I think that Devil Survivor 2 The Animation did a far better job, seeing as the characters were notified in advance, and had the chance to prevent it from occurring.
But Another seriously killed the plot; I think that killing Izumi was also a seriously stupid move.
Of the list of characters that I liked:
Yukari Sakuragi - First killed - Umbrella.
Sanae Mizuno - Killed in elevator crash.
Yumi Ogura - Killed do to falling out of a balcony shortly after going insane.
Izumi Akazawa - Killed by shattering glass while in the middle of a stupid argument.
Reiko Mikami - Killed by someone that resembles Kouichi Sakakibara; and terns out to be the other person, is killed for the last time by Kouichi Sakakibara, ending (postponing) the curse.
Characters that I could live without:
Kouichi Sakakibara - Lives - I seriously hated him, a lot of the stuff would have never happened if he left it be.
Mei Misaki - Lives - I just didn't like her that much.
Yuuya Mochizuki - Lives - He felt like a filler character, that they tried to make important.
Naoya Teshigawara - Lives - He's okay, but if he didn't act on his own, and try to kill Tomohiko Kazami, a lot of people would have lived.
There were a couple other things that irritated me:
In the fire, half of the time Izumi, Mei and the MC just stand around, as though all the flames aren't even there, even stopping to call each other on the phone; and Mei just leaves the MC By Himself in the burning building, so that he doesn't have to see her kill his aunt, which over course he ends up seeing anyway, as he is the one that kills her.
The other thing that bothered me was with the speedboat; what the heck? It would have been better if they had him eaten by sharks; which would have been more realistic as well as disturbing.
Overall, the male characters in Another were either useless or problematic; and the only characters I found likeable died.
