Self furfiling prophecies basically. Enter with negative attitude, look for negative things. This is one thing I always keep my friends in check with. Granted very few actually listen. Oh hell, I do it myself. It's not easy to avoid, but it's important to realize it and not just dismiss something as objectively bad.

I think the other grand problem is that a large franchise like Gundam has splintered the fanbase into many groups who paint one of the series as their ideal, hence the UC vs AU dichotomy or whatnot. This will happen to any franchise that gets sufficiently large. For the Nanoha franchise, it would definitely be A's, where you will get people going "Why can't this be more like A's?". They'd then nitpick at what previous series did anyways! And yes, I do realize this.

Truth is you can watch any show to be bad given the correct criticisms. I once wrote a scathing parody review of Clannad that actually made sense, despite it being one of my favorite anime. I assure you I could easily rip into any one of my favorites, although that's just not something I like to do too much. =p I'll all for hating something, but do be consistent and sensible. And a lot of the crap levied against Age was neither. Might as well have said "This anime sucks, mecha are not meant to be aerodynamic" when such a premise just discounts mecha anime entirely.

Ah, wonder who did who for LB. I think one of the designers worked for Inu x Boku SS, and those designs were extremely moe.

Damn, you know how the Gundam fandom is. I think it might have been hard for you to get into these because they really do require knowledge of the UC universe. Personally, I think the best entrance into UC are those Mobile Suit Gundam trilogy movies. They're fast and have much better animation and less disco stuff like the original had. And that leads to Zeta, which is pretty much the sacred entry in the franchise, I think.

Age wasn't bad though I kinda last track in the 2nd arc. I thought the first few episodes were actually kinda strong and I liked the direction and visuals-- everything had sorta this nice futuristic glow to it. Yes, I don't discriminate because of "kiddie" designs. I would take that over Kyoto Animation's typical fare these days. ;p [Speaking of designs, I sorta like Little Busters as well; I am at the Haruka arc and have heard good things about it]

But yea, on Age, that was definitely a show that was unfairly bashed. I do not like posting in that subforum. Considering how I like controversial discussions, that is just really bad.

Well, one thing that is special about the series is that the show no doubt emphasizes that these antics are not cool and they really should reflect on themselves. It's a sorta black humor that kept me interested. I guess I need to catch up on Next then; sort of a fanservice fan anyways.

Oh, so you're the marathoning kind. And yes DVD waits suck. You just feel stranded. I'm surprised Kaioshin hasn't hammered your IM window about it though. :3 What is your favorite Gundam series anyways?

Well, it does appear that the Yozora side tends to be much more vicious on the attack, though I've heard that this is because the anime whitewashed more of Sena's flaws, and emphasized more of Yozora's weaknesses.

Though this is not the first or last time this has happened. Ore no Imouto would do something similar, if you're familiar with that. Same studio as well.

You could really tell by season 1's finale which tried to give some humanity behind Yozora's actions, but it was too abrupt and it just doesn't seem like she learned. Even though I liked her more at first, it just went down the drain. I also hate Important Haircuts. I tend to like longer hair on female characters, but short hair is fine too. But cutting longer hair just feels odd.

Sena's just more understandable. Nobody respects her because they view her as a spoiled piece of meat and never really judge her on her actaul qualities. So she in turn rejects them too, and considers them beneath her. On the other hand, Yozora seemed to have failed to stop bullying in the past when she really wanted to but couldn't, so she grew in to give up on fairness. Which gets glossed over, sadly.


Anyhow, isn't that a nicer conversation then the typical "Oh, that other girl/guy is a total bitch!"?
