Yo, sorry bout the delays. Just been super busy with work as of late.

Looks like tickets are up for it, though some theaters they indicate has showing it near me don't have the option up yet, though some others do. I'd almost rather they not show up at all, though it seems they leave it open. It'd be nice if they perhaps did something a bit less serious in the future. I would actually quite like some sort of slice of life or more comedic series just focusing on the characters going about their daily lives. The movie seems sort of vague on what's going on with him to the point he's not even sure. I mean the one lady has a Code too, but it's also incomplete and she definitely dies. The post credits does have him mention something about taking Geass away, though whether that means just killing them or if that's a special ability he has I'm not sure.

I'm curious to see it for myself though having read some summaries I can already see some issues. Some may be due to the time they have to address things, but others not so much. Eh, we'll see in a little under a month now.

And they released the main cast and of it I see everyone from the original, though there are some minor characters who aren't listed.

Had a trip to New Orleans last week that it feels like I'm still recovering from. Sorry on delays.

I wouldn't say correct, just similar in a number of regards. It's not 1:1 exactly and even with the more fleshed out summaries it seems like some things remain unexplained. Which is sort of weird since they indicated this to be the last word regarding Lelouch and C.C.

Yeah, looking forward to seeing it and hopefully it comes near me like the Broly movie did.

Gotcha. I did find a good summary of events that also plugs in photos from trailers/the pamphlet given at the theater and gives an order to things. Still missing some details, but it's the most complete one I've seen.

Additionally, there is one new KMF in the movie that has to be a reference to Gundam.

Well, it's not a complete copy of that old theory and adds it's own twists to things. Honestly, I'm a bit annoyed thus far that it sounds like they don't really go into the details of things too much. And there's also that this is canon to the movies and not R2, though I don't see any reason why it couldn't happen there.

Saw that one a bit. The actual music video for that song is kind of hilarious actually. I'll include below the opening scene from the movie with subs applied. It was on a DVD that you got for I think preordering tickets. I've been hearing good things about it, but haven't had a chance to sit down and watch quite yet.

Sorry about that. Work's been super busy as we've got a convention coming up next week that I'm attending as a member of staff.

Saw it! And also as much of the spoilers as I could find. You want to discuss it now or hold off?

Funimation announced a Subbed showing May 5 and Dubbed May 7-8.

Read up to the most recent chapter. I feel like it would be very appropriate if the punchline of this series was the reveal that all the magic was just super advanced technology that no one understood anymore and they straight up just invoke Clarke's Third Law to the one antagonist.

Oh, I don’t think it’s perfect, but all things considered it’s pretty cohesive. Only real loss of Shirley’s death is that his stated reason for assaulting the Geass Order, while not exactly a bad one, doesn’t have that same venom Lelouch did before.

I don’t believe the student council has appeared at all unless you count that initial teaser and that remains to be seen as to whether it was anything more than test footage. I’d imagine they’ll appear in some form though. They seem like alternate versions or maybe earlier prototypes of the Alexander. I sort of get vibes that’s more of a grunt unit then one piloted by someone major, but not impossible. It seems Shario is the pilot of the one getting the focus in trailers, which I’d actually thought was green jacket guy initially.

I mean it kind of is. It completely restructures how the plot goes and all the stuff with the backstory of characters like Char is completely original like how his father is depicted compared to the original series. Those tv versions feel sort of cheap since it’s just the movies cut up into an anime series. If there were new scenes it’d be cooler, but I don’t get the impression of them doing that. Oh right I forgot about them doing that.

I just took the view that they did a lot of analyzing of the various Geass the children had in the Order. It’s clear there’s a scientific bent to what they do there, but at no point was there any suggestion his was some fake Geass or something. Just another one given out by V.V. that happened to have a flaw with it. There’s a lot of inferred things in the main series and it’s questionable how seriously we take Akito even if it may be considered canon since nothing from it will likely ever be addressed. Main rule appears to be that Geass affects or deals with the mind/consciousness in some way, which is pretty much the case with every single example seen. Maybe. I dunno. They’ve been super vague on what the antagonists are actually trying to accomplish so its hard to say. Because it’s out of character for him to plan out something like this as I’ve mentioned several times before given his state of mind and where is character was in both the series and films. It makes way more sense and is far less complicated if this was just something C.C. made the decision to do on her own. Not impossible, but given how they’ve always talked about the ending, I don’t see them changing Lelouch’s character like that.

Dentist ended up being fine. Couple small cavities and I’m apparently brushing too hard, but otherwise I’m fine. I mean the world and whatnot are interesting enough, but then you get this page where she’s flashing her breasts and it just kind of takes me out of it. Shame the one dude died so early, but then that wasn’t hard to see coming given how competent he was.

Could be thinking of something else then. I need to catch that too and it apparently comes out in March for home release. Also saw Broly, which I thought was pretty great. Also did you know they were making a Rise of the Shield Hero anime? Seems a good adaptation so far from what I can tell.

Some of the staff wanted that to keep it in line with the show, but Taniguchi already couldn’t see her dying after they cut out the Mao arc so they didn’t and reconfigured her role a bit. It’s an AU and confirmed to be an AU by them. The show is the show and the movies are the movies. Both are their own thing. It’s not a drastic change true, but a slightly different take on things. If that terms suits you better then fine. Same principle in a sense. The original series exists and then you have this other version in the manga and then those movie adaptations of certain parts of the manga they did. Yes, those ones. It makes more sense with the movies version to me, but that’s ultimately just opinions. Fine, whatever. We don’t know the full circumstances behind this whole thing, who approached who, and who had what idea. Maybe they’ll talk about it sometime, but probably not. First I’ve ever heard of it, but not impossible.

Given that there don’t seem to be too many of the returning characters from the show, getting the actors for just a movie might not be a problem. I don’t really see how it does from just that, but okay. Seems to be a new variant as it doesn’t have the hands on the front legs but just wheels instead. I know of it. Heard decent things, but it isn’t something that interests me at the moment.

Even if it was animated, I’m not sure that would make it canon and then invalidate the entire original series. Okay. I’d have thought they would have announced one by now, but they haven’t yet.

I know it was related to their research into her, but I didn’t recall them ever going into that much detail before on the whole thing. I just remembering it largely being pretty vague. I tended to take his comments on Rolo to be how his Geass has a very clear flaw with how it affects his heart, which would likely make him unable to ever evolve his Geass to the final stage. I’m actually unclear if he’s actually blind and needs that to see somehow, though other scenes have him with it off and seeming to operate fine. Maybe it’s something like a way to enhance his performance within the Knightmare or he’s the kind of character obsessed with analysis. That last bit’s just random conjecture though. Yeah, I don’t know what’s up with that weird gesture of his. Feels like either a Geass thing or maybe it’s some gesture that’s part of their culture like a salute. It certainly seems to be a part of them as a whole I agree, however that ends up panning out. I don’t agree, but we’ll just have to see how it plays out. That story just conveys to me he has no idea what C.C. is planning and that he has regrets about just leaving her to continue on as an immortal. They never went into specifics on how he planned to go about that, but from her perspective that’s probably true.

I mean, if you’re trying to condense an entire series into a set of movies that convey the same storyline in a way that makes sense then cuts are inevitable. That’s just common sense and pretty much all the cuts that occurred make sense to me. Okay? We’ll see what happens. I just think it would be extremely out of character for Lelouch to actually plan his own resurrection given the state of mind and such by the end of things. Except Lelouch never just straight up showed romantic interest in anyone. As before, it’s out of character for him to pursue actually having a harem and on top of that is just something I don’t see them pursuing in any way with this film given all the other matters that need to be dealt with. Possibly. They had a thing where they confirmed he is in the film and that it’s not a “he only shows up for a bit at the end” sort of thing.

No. I don’t when I’ll be able to go home next. I don’t have the money or time. And now one of my teeth looks like it has some problems that’ll probably end up costing me a lot depending on what it is. Maybe I’ll end up having a root canal after all. You can send them if you want. I also stumbled on a cam for the Broly movie that someone actually subbed. Quality is about what you’d expect but it’s neat. Skimmed just a bit of it since spoilers don’t bug me and it has me excited to see it for myself in theaters. It’s more that I just find the whole breast sucking thing eye roll worthy at this point and I don’t have as much patience for that anymore. How prominent is that aspect of it with everything else?

I could have sworn I saw something from the author where they said the story was further along in their overall story, but maybe it was just saying the whole thing was halfway. I’d probably just fine waiting till it’s done since the author actually has one in mind for the future. Manga has had some very interesting developments recently that’ll be neat to see covered when the anime gets to them.

I don't think headcanon works when they outright say it didn't happen. I tend to view headcanon as filling in blanks when they creators don't say one way or another on something using what is given to you. Mao might have still existed certainly, but he didn't come back to mess with Lelouch and C.C. in the film version of events. If that's what he did. It responded, but that whole sequence was weird enough I don't think you can say Lelouch actually did mind control God. They each died in a way they accepted. Lelouch literally in that he can't actually see the world that comes about while going down as an evil villain and Suzaku by dying in a more metaphorical sense while taking on the image of an enemy he hated. Lelouch actually creating a back up plan where he just gets to come back and be alive again cheapens that to me. And if Lelouch had a plan for this do you really think he wouldn't hesitate to try and use it for someone like Euphemia, rather than just for himself. It just starts getting too complicated. Having it just being that C.C. won't let him go and goes off to her own thing even if it's not what they wanted fits better. Also shows a bit of development(if not necessarily a positive one) for her in that she's actually trying to live and not just stay stagnant like before. Could be, but then there was no point in setting her up as someone in on things with C.C. and Jeremiah. They could have just had that phone call be the last major bit and regulate her to the same spot as Milly and Rivalz. That's a lot to build off of that one moment. I guess we took away very different things from that then. When the show did that whole 108 dates thing, I always took it to show how inept Lelouch is at this sort of thing. It was essentially a parody of the concept in a sense. I'm not expecting much romance at all in this film much less them wasting time on useless harem nonsense. I don't expect it, but we'll see.

I don't really celebrate much. Probably just have a nice dinner by myself on Tuesday and then that'll be it. I will, though no idea when it'll ever be gotten to. All I ever have these days are backlogs of various kinds. If it's the same creators I wouldn't be surprised if it goes the same way.

It's supposed to be ending soon so I'd probably just wait till that happens maybe. I'm up to date on MHA manga. It's just the anime I haven't gotten through yet, though I believe they left off just before the start of the Overhaul arc.

Maybe, but it could be they decide to have it pay off somehow. Despite removing it making sense, it does mark the real major change to denote it (and the upcoming film) as an AU with the original series staying on its own. Cut most of it out though too, only using it where it was somewhat relevant to do so. Pretty much disappeared after they got through season 1 material, which I don't really have much of a problem with. But it is a retelling with events altered in mostly small ways. There were recap films done previously, which were just super condensed versions of the show and kind of a mess honestly. These are actually restructured in such a way that they flow much better with some changes I quite like such as it being Schneizel's people who jump the gun on firing at Lelouch once he's revealed while the Black Knights actually seemed more willing to hear him out. I don't see the problem. The creators always mentioned the series ended how they wanted it. Creating enough differences with the films to make them an AU and having the film be a sequel like that doesn't strike me as all that bad a move. That way, anyone who is unhappy with the film existing or the events that happen within it can ignore it in favor of the the original series. If you deem that "ass covering" fine, but it made sense to me when I thought about it. Maybe, depends on what the exact circumstances end up being or if it ends up being a real, permanent resurrection. Yes, the line is in both series and kept in the films. Could be they use aspects of that in whatever is going on. Seems it takes a bit of time to pull off if it took two years to get to it. That'd be the first I'd ever heard of that. I remember reading back in the day that they'd considered having the series start off with the cliffhanger from the end of season 1 and then flashing back to then show how we got there. It's more what was going to happen after season 1 that things got off track. There was actually a completely alternate script for the episode after 25 that's rather interesting and I've seen translated. Can't remember where.

Yeah, they announced it's coming out but with only the sub. Hopefully they go for dubbing the upcoming film as it's nice to have the option. I was talking about anime voice acting specifically. He still does plenty of western animation work. Same with Troy. Though as I say that both of them are in that Baki anime that just came up on Netflix so either they're getting back into it or the money was just good. True.

So then Origin shouldn't have been adapted at all or is worth less? It'd be nice to see them adapt things like this which are well liked by the fans and give the franchise something a bit different in terms of setting or characters. Though honestly I appreciate F91 and V because it's not more Federation vs Zeon. They have their problems sure, but there are things I like about them in spite of those flaws. I'd rather they do more AU stuff though, but then I guess I'm just all over the place with how I feel about Gundam these days.

I don't quite get the comparison actually. Jeremiah's canceller ability is explicitly shown as somehow being Geass related even if the exact origin and mechanics of how it even works are never explained. I also don't understand what you mean by Rolo's Geass being fake. It was a legitimate Geass albeit one that had a flaw with how it affected him. He might not have ever been able to reach the level of someone like Charles or Lelouch since they can use their Geass much more freely, but that doesn't make it a fake. I don't recall ever saying the country didn't show connection with Geass, that much is obvious. I'm just saying we don't yet have confirmation beyond one person having it right now and that I don't quite get the impression Shario has it as of yet. They need someone with a Code to grant Geass which left either C.C. or V.V. Either of them could have done it in the past as part of some old connection to this place or C.C. made some deal with them and gave Geass out to get to her own goals. Or they reveal a new Code bearer, which is always possible too. Or maybe he just decided to trust in the future and have faith that Suzaku and the others could handle it? He probably didn't expect it to do so unless he really was being that hopeful about things. But he left a good support system in place and decided to place his faith in the people left. They do certainly seemed to have puzzled enough of it out, though line placement can be suspect in trailers so we'll see how that shakes out. And again, it'd be out of character for Lelouch to do that especially with the way the show ended. That official short story also shows he didn't know what she was up to. Not impossible, but highly unlikely based on what we have right now. The promise they seem to be referencing is how she should die smiling and that he'd make her smile.
