Read up to the most recent chapter. I feel like it would be very appropriate if the punchline of this series was the reveal that all the magic was just super advanced technology that no one understood anymore and they straight up just invoke Clarke's Third Law to the one antagonist.

Oh, I don’t think it’s perfect, but all things considered it’s pretty cohesive. Only real loss of Shirley’s death is that his stated reason for assaulting the Geass Order, while not exactly a bad one, doesn’t have that same venom Lelouch did before.

I don’t believe the student council has appeared at all unless you count that initial teaser and that remains to be seen as to whether it was anything more than test footage. I’d imagine they’ll appear in some form though. They seem like alternate versions or maybe earlier prototypes of the Alexander. I sort of get vibes that’s more of a grunt unit then one piloted by someone major, but not impossible. It seems Shario is the pilot of the one getting the focus in trailers, which I’d actually thought was green jacket guy initially.

I mean it kind of is. It completely restructures how the plot goes and all the stuff with the backstory of characters like Char is completely original like how his father is depicted compared to the original series. Those tv versions feel sort of cheap since it’s just the movies cut up into an anime series. If there were new scenes it’d be cooler, but I don’t get the impression of them doing that. Oh right I forgot about them doing that.

I just took the view that they did a lot of analyzing of the various Geass the children had in the Order. It’s clear there’s a scientific bent to what they do there, but at no point was there any suggestion his was some fake Geass or something. Just another one given out by V.V. that happened to have a flaw with it. There’s a lot of inferred things in the main series and it’s questionable how seriously we take Akito even if it may be considered canon since nothing from it will likely ever be addressed. Main rule appears to be that Geass affects or deals with the mind/consciousness in some way, which is pretty much the case with every single example seen. Maybe. I dunno. They’ve been super vague on what the antagonists are actually trying to accomplish so its hard to say. Because it’s out of character for him to plan out something like this as I’ve mentioned several times before given his state of mind and where is character was in both the series and films. It makes way more sense and is far less complicated if this was just something C.C. made the decision to do on her own. Not impossible, but given how they’ve always talked about the ending, I don’t see them changing Lelouch’s character like that.

Dentist ended up being fine. Couple small cavities and I’m apparently brushing too hard, but otherwise I’m fine. I mean the world and whatnot are interesting enough, but then you get this page where she’s flashing her breasts and it just kind of takes me out of it. Shame the one dude died so early, but then that wasn’t hard to see coming given how competent he was.

Could be thinking of something else then. I need to catch that too and it apparently comes out in March for home release. Also saw Broly, which I thought was pretty great. Also did you know they were making a Rise of the Shield Hero anime? Seems a good adaptation so far from what I can tell.

Some of the staff wanted that to keep it in line with the show, but Taniguchi already couldnít see her dying after they cut out the Mao arc so they didnít and reconfigured her role a bit. Itís an AU and confirmed to be an AU by them. The show is the show and the movies are the movies. Both are their own thing. Itís not a drastic change true, but a slightly different take on things. If that terms suits you better then fine. Same principle in a sense. The original series exists and then you have this other version in the manga and then those movie adaptations of certain parts of the manga they did. Yes, those ones. It makes more sense with the movies version to me, but thatís ultimately just opinions. Fine, whatever. We donít know the full circumstances behind this whole thing, who approached who, and who had what idea. Maybe theyíll talk about it sometime, but probably not. First Iíve ever heard of it, but not impossible.

Given that there donít seem to be too many of the returning characters from the show, getting the actors for just a movie might not be a problem. I donít really see how it does from just that, but okay. Seems to be a new variant as it doesnít have the hands on the front legs but just wheels instead. I know of it. Heard decent things, but it isnít something that interests me at the moment.

Even if it was animated, Iím not sure that would make it canon and then invalidate the entire original series. Okay. Iíd have thought they would have announced one by now, but they havenít yet.

I know it was related to their research into her, but I didnít recall them ever going into that much detail before on the whole thing. I just remembering it largely being pretty vague. I tended to take his comments on Rolo to be how his Geass has a very clear flaw with how it affects his heart, which would likely make him unable to ever evolve his Geass to the final stage. Iím actually unclear if heís actually blind and needs that to see somehow, though other scenes have him with it off and seeming to operate fine. Maybe itís something like a way to enhance his performance within the Knightmare or heís the kind of character obsessed with analysis. That last bitís just random conjecture though. Yeah, I donít know whatís up with that weird gesture of his. Feels like either a Geass thing or maybe itís some gesture thatís part of their culture like a salute. It certainly seems to be a part of them as a whole I agree, however that ends up panning out. I donít agree, but weíll just have to see how it plays out. That story just conveys to me he has no idea what C.C. is planning and that he has regrets about just leaving her to continue on as an immortal. They never went into specifics on how he planned to go about that, but from her perspective thatís probably true.

I mean, if youíre trying to condense an entire series into a set of movies that convey the same storyline in a way that makes sense then cuts are inevitable. Thatís just common sense and pretty much all the cuts that occurred make sense to me. Okay? Weíll see what happens. I just think it would be extremely out of character for Lelouch to actually plan his own resurrection given the state of mind and such by the end of things. Except Lelouch never just straight up showed romantic interest in anyone. As before, itís out of character for him to pursue actually having a harem and on top of that is just something I donít see them pursuing in any way with this film given all the other matters that need to be dealt with. Possibly. They had a thing where they confirmed he is in the film and that itís not a ďhe only shows up for a bit at the endĒ sort of thing.

No. I donít when Iíll be able to go home next. I donít have the money or time. And now one of my teeth looks like it has some problems thatíll probably end up costing me a lot depending on what it is. Maybe Iíll end up having a root canal after all. You can send them if you want. I also stumbled on a cam for the Broly movie that someone actually subbed. Quality is about what youíd expect but itís neat. Skimmed just a bit of it since spoilers donít bug me and it has me excited to see it for myself in theaters. Itís more that I just find the whole breast sucking thing eye roll worthy at this point and I donít have as much patience for that anymore. How prominent is that aspect of it with everything else?

I could have sworn I saw something from the author where they said the story was further along in their overall story, but maybe it was just saying the whole thing was halfway. Iíd probably just fine waiting till itís done since the author actually has one in mind for the future. Manga has had some very interesting developments recently thatíll be neat to see covered when the anime gets to them.

I don't think headcanon works when they outright say it didn't happen. I tend to view headcanon as filling in blanks when they creators don't say one way or another on something using what is given to you. Mao might have still existed certainly, but he didn't come back to mess with Lelouch and C.C. in the film version of events. If that's what he did. It responded, but that whole sequence was weird enough I don't think you can say Lelouch actually did mind control God. They each died in a way they accepted. Lelouch literally in that he can't actually see the world that comes about while going down as an evil villain and Suzaku by dying in a more metaphorical sense while taking on the image of an enemy he hated. Lelouch actually creating a back up plan where he just gets to come back and be alive again cheapens that to me. And if Lelouch had a plan for this do you really think he wouldn't hesitate to try and use it for someone like Euphemia, rather than just for himself. It just starts getting too complicated. Having it just being that C.C. won't let him go and goes off to her own thing even if it's not what they wanted fits better. Also shows a bit of development(if not necessarily a positive one) for her in that she's actually trying to live and not just stay stagnant like before. Could be, but then there was no point in setting her up as someone in on things with C.C. and Jeremiah. They could have just had that phone call be the last major bit and regulate her to the same spot as Milly and Rivalz. That's a lot to build off of that one moment. I guess we took away very different things from that then. When the show did that whole 108 dates thing, I always took it to show how inept Lelouch is at this sort of thing. It was essentially a parody of the concept in a sense. I'm not expecting much romance at all in this film much less them wasting time on useless harem nonsense. I don't expect it, but we'll see.

I don't really celebrate much. Probably just have a nice dinner by myself on Tuesday and then that'll be it. I will, though no idea when it'll ever be gotten to. All I ever have these days are backlogs of various kinds. If it's the same creators I wouldn't be surprised if it goes the same way.

It's supposed to be ending soon so I'd probably just wait till that happens maybe. I'm up to date on MHA manga. It's just the anime I haven't gotten through yet, though I believe they left off just before the start of the Overhaul arc.

Maybe, but it could be they decide to have it pay off somehow. Despite removing it making sense, it does mark the real major change to denote it (and the upcoming film) as an AU with the original series staying on its own. Cut most of it out though too, only using it where it was somewhat relevant to do so. Pretty much disappeared after they got through season 1 material, which I don't really have much of a problem with. But it is a retelling with events altered in mostly small ways. There were recap films done previously, which were just super condensed versions of the show and kind of a mess honestly. These are actually restructured in such a way that they flow much better with some changes I quite like such as it being Schneizel's people who jump the gun on firing at Lelouch once he's revealed while the Black Knights actually seemed more willing to hear him out. I don't see the problem. The creators always mentioned the series ended how they wanted it. Creating enough differences with the films to make them an AU and having the film be a sequel like that doesn't strike me as all that bad a move. That way, anyone who is unhappy with the film existing or the events that happen within it can ignore it in favor of the the original series. If you deem that "ass covering" fine, but it made sense to me when I thought about it. Maybe, depends on what the exact circumstances end up being or if it ends up being a real, permanent resurrection. Yes, the line is in both series and kept in the films. Could be they use aspects of that in whatever is going on. Seems it takes a bit of time to pull off if it took two years to get to it. That'd be the first I'd ever heard of that. I remember reading back in the day that they'd considered having the series start off with the cliffhanger from the end of season 1 and then flashing back to then show how we got there. It's more what was going to happen after season 1 that things got off track. There was actually a completely alternate script for the episode after 25 that's rather interesting and I've seen translated. Can't remember where.

Yeah, they announced it's coming out but with only the sub. Hopefully they go for dubbing the upcoming film as it's nice to have the option. I was talking about anime voice acting specifically. He still does plenty of western animation work. Same with Troy. Though as I say that both of them are in that Baki anime that just came up on Netflix so either they're getting back into it or the money was just good. True.

So then Origin shouldn't have been adapted at all or is worth less? It'd be nice to see them adapt things like this which are well liked by the fans and give the franchise something a bit different in terms of setting or characters. Though honestly I appreciate F91 and V because it's not more Federation vs Zeon. They have their problems sure, but there are things I like about them in spite of those flaws. I'd rather they do more AU stuff though, but then I guess I'm just all over the place with how I feel about Gundam these days.

I don't quite get the comparison actually. Jeremiah's canceller ability is explicitly shown as somehow being Geass related even if the exact origin and mechanics of how it even works are never explained. I also don't understand what you mean by Rolo's Geass being fake. It was a legitimate Geass albeit one that had a flaw with how it affected him. He might not have ever been able to reach the level of someone like Charles or Lelouch since they can use their Geass much more freely, but that doesn't make it a fake. I don't recall ever saying the country didn't show connection with Geass, that much is obvious. I'm just saying we don't yet have confirmation beyond one person having it right now and that I don't quite get the impression Shario has it as of yet. They need someone with a Code to grant Geass which left either C.C. or V.V. Either of them could have done it in the past as part of some old connection to this place or C.C. made some deal with them and gave Geass out to get to her own goals. Or they reveal a new Code bearer, which is always possible too. Or maybe he just decided to trust in the future and have faith that Suzaku and the others could handle it? He probably didn't expect it to do so unless he really was being that hopeful about things. But he left a good support system in place and decided to place his faith in the people left. They do certainly seemed to have puzzled enough of it out, though line placement can be suspect in trailers so we'll see how that shakes out. And again, it'd be out of character for Lelouch to do that especially with the way the show ended. That official short story also shows he didn't know what she was up to. Not impossible, but highly unlikely based on what we have right now. The promise they seem to be referencing is how she should die smiling and that he'd make her smile.

I got a second seasonal job for the weekends and the holidays so I don't get any real time off until the end of January or not at all if I end up staying on to make some more money. I'd quite recommend it. Needed something humorous a while back and it did the trick. It has an anime premiering in January, though I'm worried about it doing the manga justice. I remember Altair, but may have forgotten Kono Oto if we discussed it at all. If you want, though not sure when I'd be able to really go through them.

Heard good things, though haven't looked into it much. I believe that one is getting an adaptation next year as well.

Well, she still has the whole love interest for Lelouch aspect, which they've kept and accelerated to an actual relationship instead of doing the whole "I can't just admit my feelings" game. Not that there would have been time for that. That they went to so much trouble when they easily could have regulated her entirely as just one of Lelouch's friends gives me the exact opposite impression. I mean, that was never going to happen in the first place and was never the intention. They aren't walking it back either. He died in the Tv series and by all accounts that stuck. He died in the movies too, but circumstances emerged that are seemingly allowing him to come back. There's a slight change in C.C.'s demeanor as well in that compared to the TV series she is much less able to just accept things and move on in the movies. Most of the issues with R2 were due to them getting put in a morning timeslot when before they were in a prime time night slot, which made them scrap a bunch of plans as they were now worried about fans coming into the shows through that new time slot. So there was some scrambling, but not so much because of the success catching things off guard.

I'm seeing reports they aren't dubbing the compilation films, though I haven't seen anything official. One thing that would be difficult is that the majority are either outside Funimations usual pool of talent or have mostly gotten out of the anime voicing gig like Troy Baker and Steve Blum. I could see Resurrection getting it though at least.

How unfortunately short sighted then, though I haven't heard that one before. Most issues I hear with the two is that F91 suffers due to being an entire 13 episode series condensed into a film and Victory being kind of weird and tenuous with it's connections to the rest. F91 actually has a very popular manga sequel called Crossbone Gundam, which I quite like and sadly has never been animated.

Or they just have machines and enough knowledge of Geass to be able to analyze that sort of thing? I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'll wait until we get some official confirmation to start claiming everyone there has a Geass. I'd like to actually get an official translation as I've seen about 4 with Zilkstan being the most recent from a synopsis translation. Lelouch is hardly infallible. Hell, a lot of his plans had some outside factor come in to wreck them that left him scrambling at the time. This just being another instance of that with him being unable to find a way out of it due to being dead. We don't know the particulars of his capture or when any of those lines take place. They could pop up in a number of places and it's not uncommon to give lines out of context. And as before, I'm banking on him not expecting C.C. to pull any of this. The short story they released with the ticket preorders already indicates that C.C. told him nothing of what she was planning.

Eh, not quite as the context is a bit different given that it's Shirley and their relationship in the movies. Except the director flat out stated it didn't happen. So it didn't. That was actually a line from the original series that they kept, though it's just about the only thing we have right now that could count for anything. Why would Lelouch have any idea for this? Him having an actual plan to resurrect himself from materials we have was not something that happened and even if it did also muddles up the themes with both his and Suzaku's sacrifice quite a bit. I agree, which is why them doing it at all implies they have some role in mind for Shirley, though again the only one I can think of is as a token love interest. I find it highly unlikely they go that happy, but it probably depends on the themes of the film in the end. He also differed from his father in a number of ways and never displayed any of these kinds of tendencies or even interest. Hell, in the anime they outright made fun of the concept with that 108 dates thing Sayako set up where he was completely inept with no idea what to do. And either rejects or doesn't care about any of it. I'd be incredibly disappointed if they went such a direction with his character at this point and it'd be tonally off as well I think. If she's persistent enough it might stick depending on how it all ends up playing out, though I agree on C.C. ultimately being the best match. They could totally make up some excuse like him surviving, taking Kallen's words to heart and rejected what Lelouch did. Whoever the new Zero is could claim he's been working under them the whole time.

We'll see if anything comes up in any further trailers they put out though there's a little under two months till the movie now. It was a two minute teaser with text between the shots. Not really a whole lot all things considered.

If it was a setup for C.C., then she wouldn't have been needed at all. I don't expect her to come up in a big way, but I think they have something in mind for her even if it's as a token romantic partner for Lelouch to go back to if he comes back and stays alive. Outside of Japan maybe, but in Japan I could see it drawing new people in. I simply don't agree with the notion that it's covering their ass I guess.

Maybe, I could see it being even later depending on if they simply release a subbed version or a dubbed version as well.

Extraordinarily unlikely since those shows still have their fans and are I believe well regarded.

Maybe, but there's no real indications thus far. I think he may possibly be blind too, which makes him a weird counterpart to Nunnally. They definitely have some knowledge of things, though no real clue on their goal yet. That was mentioned in the synopsis for the film. It's a land of warriors that once defeated the army of Britannia. Presumably this caused them to be left alone or something. There was always on the world map this place in the Middle East that wasn't claimed by any party. Though why they never bothered doing anything before I don't know unless they are very isolationist. Her trying to bring him back at all is going against his wishes and risking the peace. Suzaku has a line about that to someone as well and C.C. is the only one who makes sense really since I don't know why anyone in this nation would care about breaking the peace. I mean the plan was always naive. I think Schneizel even called him on it. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he really didn't account for this sort of scenario.

Yeah, it came across more he was saying goodbye to tie up loose ends and when she started pushing and what not he cut the call. I have no idea why C.C. would care in the least about any of that in regards to Shirley. Given we see that she's with Jeremiah by the letter at the end, the logical conclusion is that meeting is where C.C. essentially recruited her into her plan. I think it's in character for him to contact her all on his own to say goodbye given they were dating and he's the type he would take that sort of thing seriously regardless. Or as before, it's to be someone who is there for Lelouch once he is back. Akito wasn't written and directed by the creators so it having a happy ending doesn't really factor with this at all I think. I didn't, but it's completely out of character for him to do so. And Lelouch doesn't flirt with anyone in this really. There was even a short story once about how he finds the whole taking tons of wives thing an ancient practice. He just isn't the type for it especially with how clueless he is about this sort of thing. I've mentioned my doubts on that. Could see some thing where she's by him platonically and if he ends up with Shirley, watches over their descendants or something. I admit, I don't know what Suzaku does after this. Going back to Zero doesn't seem likely though I suppose they can make up some excuse that allows him to continue to serve.

Given the situation, unless such as scene is at the end of the film I can't see a practical reason to dress up in that outfit again given the situation. Unless plans changed as they went about getting things together. Or you go so far back she isn't around.

Even if it's not super serious, them dating at all is a big change for both of them.

I'm sort of behind on everything. Just don't have as much time. Read a bit of the Goblin Slayer manga, which was alright as well as a fun comedic manga called Kaguya-sama Wants To Be Confessed To. Not heard of that one myself.

I still floss, but never really done mouth wash myself. I actually have a dentist right down the street from my apartment, which is convenient. I'd honestly think she'd just get a cameo were it not for them having her somehow be involved in whatever C.C.'s up to. Except the anime series was done and finished and at the time there were no intentions for any sort of continuation. Well, that is who they're primarily thinking of here in terms of the audience, which will have people who will go and check these out. I do wish they'd had more new scenes or scenes that served to lead into the next film. Maybe? They did do the Akito OVAs a while after, but I don't know how much of a cash cow it really was or what the process was for how they decided to go about this.

Yeah, it's a little under a month now and releases full in Japan either today or tomorrow I think. The release for Resurrection isn't too far either really as it's a bit under two months now.

I'm pretty much out of the loop with Gundam right now, though I heard a little about NT. I mean, it won't amount to much in the end since it has to lead into F91 and then Victory, which is around 30 and 60 years after respectively. They're not much better honestly, though there are parties on both sides tired of all this.

So many? We only have confirmation of the one guy and no one else, though it's not impossible they have more. Well, beating him does create some pretty high stakes for how tough these people are if they can manage that, though we don't know yet the full circumstances for his loss. C.C. may end up coming in as a third party to help provided she isn't working with the antagonists in some way towards her own ends. I suppose it depends on what the reason for all this is. If this country managing all this is due to C.C. assisting them in her effort to bring Lelouch back, then the reasoning still holds that she would be better off letting him go. It did have a proper finale in the tv series. Someone (creators, Sunrise, or both) probably just decided to make some money by announcing a new project with the prospect of bringing Lelouch back, which they probably know would get people excited. They've talked about doing more with in stuff like games and whatnot, which has come to pass with a bunch of different game crossovers in Japan and some new mobile game for the series. Beyond that, no idea.

Hmm? Lelouch had his little phone call with Shirley to presumably say goodbye then hung up. Then C.C. appeared before Shirley while Lelouch was in Japan visiting Ashford for the UFN conference. We don't have any idea what was discussed (indications at least are that she explained everything to Shirley), but then in the ending C.C. is reading a letter signed by both Jeremiah and Shirley. Shirley is apparently still attending Ashford, but I guess helping out in the meantime with whatever? Speculation is that they have Lelouch's body, but there's no real evidence of that. I just can't envision the creators going for that full blown. If Lelouch does come back, I'll be astonished if C.C. doesn't die. Not onscreen apparently, but they have it established now and she doesn't really have any other role to play then love interest. I don't think romance is especially important to them anyway so it being regulated to a side thing we only get at the end wouldn't be surprising. They'd never go for a harem ending and it wouldn't be in character for Lelouch to go that way either. I could see that being what happens, but I expect the bittersweetness to come in with the fact he'll have to watch everyone die and in a sense be alone for eternity.

The second poster for the film has him in a new outfit which is presumably what he wears for when he pilots the Lancelot. I could see things like that coming up but perhaps not in the same way they're shown in the trailer. Unless you go way into the past or way into the future, you'd probably still run into the same problems, which is why a complete AU with no returning characters would be the best bet.

They actually specifically say that their level of dating is like elementary or middle-school level due to Lelouch being so focused on Nunnally, but that it's apparently a good relationship nonetheless. I linked an article on this as well as Taniguchi discussing the changes for the movies. I mean there are scenes and lines of dialogue to indicate it, though I agree that it's weird they insert this but don't have any actual scenes demonstrating it.

I wouldn't expect anything anytime soon unless they give us a breather arc after these mock battles.
