Yea, religion isn't something they really thought well of, which is why I often tell people to turn it off. Seems like you were doing pretty good overall.
And it would seem the series has kinda passed us. I haven't really paid attention to civ 7 but for the most part I am done with the series and you may have noted the pricing scheme has always been bad and at one point reaching Paradox levels so pretty much wait til bargain bin kinda thing.

Well, that sucks. Hope things will get better for you, your mother, and your friend.

There's a setting to turn religious victory off, I think. I would also increase the size of the map/players and pick a map that isn't just one big landmass. It is kinda lame on small maps. The default size is too small.
To stop a religious victory, you have to:
1.) Kill their religious units via war.
2.) Found your own. But that may not be fun
3.) In mid/late game build some Holy Sites and adopt a non-dominating religion. It's not too bad since faith is a good resource and adopting someone's religion has some benefits.
Founding cities away or in obscure places helps simply because they can't reach them. It's based on population as well so having large cities also helps counter it.
But you can just turn it off if it's too much.

I don't really follow college football but its nice to see things shaken up; the previous rankings and playoff systems were just inadequate. I doubt the NFL will shake up the division/wild card system anytime soon though, they want late season games like the Lions vs Vikings this weekend. Although for every game like that there's countless other teams resting starters. The Eagles are playing a preseason roster basically.
Hopefully your holidays were enjoyable. Around here we don't really get white Christmases but we're are expecting snow Monday... I guess we'll see just how much.

Happy New Year!
I thought it was great until episode 7. You're going to hate what's coming even more then. The final episode is horrible.

I haven't really watched much anime. Some suggested the Apothecary Diaries. There's a new Nanoha anime weirdly enough coming out.... soon.
As a side note, will definitely not be buying 7 due to a just as ridiculous DLC scheme but we'll see how fast the price drops.
Australia is a fun one but yes they're better for war. However you only get the bonus if someone else starts the war or you liberate a city (typically a lost city state). So on lower difficulties Australia is not very impressive but they scale very well on higher ones as the AI will attack more things and you.
The best way is probably to deliberately settle a bad city near them so they'll attack you. It also looks better if someone else starts the war.
Other benefits are their boosted campuses and stuff on apppealing tiles, which are generally not good for general use but often lead to high natural science bonuses to begin with so that can stack. There's some values in settling mountainous lands for that reason.
Well, the diplomatic victory is typically a comeback mechanic for those behind in the other things so it's only natural newer players will tend to them first. You get points for building certain wonders and also by voting on things that pass. Since the AI doesn't value favor or these wonders especially on lower difficulties, it's easy to get a large lead.
As for science/culture, 6 favors a wide empire because you can only have 1 district type in a city and unlike in 5 and before, buildings give flat instead of % bonuses, meaning that extra populated cities just don't have that kind of yield they had before. Although 5 was probably the exception in that it generally favored smaller, taller empires.
Barbarians are very difficult because they can spawn anywhere on the fog and it only gets worse over time if you don't get rid of them, so it becomes necessary to have sight over everything. City States can help a lot here.
And yea Korea's probably broken.
And yea, fuck Blizzard and their DRM.

Sorry about Discord. I don't really like to use it to chat (just too spammy and I can't pay attention to it all) It's mostly for urgent contact and gaming groups that must use it. As a result I like never respond to 90% of pings/DMs anyways I'm just one of those people that prefers old school walls and stuff. Akito knows where to find me, I assume, in the same places but PM if you don't want something to be seen.
The software also sucks and part of me hopes it'll die and we get the next big communication app.
It's nice that you finally got Civ 6. Unfortunately the pricing scheme does indeed suck and mostly driven by the fact they're coming up with Civ 7 which probably won't be complete either over the next years.
But it's not Paradox I guess where "on sale" translates to $100+ worth of DLC. Kinda just want to grab Skylines.
As for Civ 6 you have quite a few civs to choose from so I do recommend focusing on a few. Also note that you can play with friends and get all features as long as one of you has full DLCs-- which you have now.
Oh yea, forgot. Happy holidays.

I'll be waiting for your thoughts on Arcane.

lol open season.
Bills look pretty legit and gave the Lions their first loss in a while. Eagles keep on winning but the Lions still control their own destiny as far as the 1 seed. I was hopeful Carolina could beat the Cowboys but alas.

I'd rather AEW not fail and finally...become a real business since they're the only legit competition WWE has had since 2000-ish. I feel like they helped open the door to make promotions more open and it'd be quite a sight to see...Matt Cardona or Nic Nemeth pull up in NXT. And honestly at least you're not listening to Dave "I treat my opinions as insider info" Meltzer
the anime side's become a lot more selective because well...I more or less know the experience I wanna get these days. I don't remember the last time I finished something that was just okay or lower. Unless I knew I was gonna watch something ironically I guess
it's akitokinomoto on discord btw
