    Certainly all valid points.

I just commented on the Yuki Yuna series thread, by the way. Ironic - I'm one of the few there that didn't bring up Madoka Magica on the thread itself.

Yes, it is very relevant to my interests. Thanks for promoting it to me. You and one other long-time AS friend did so (the other person via PMs). I'm thankful for both of you, since it's rare I'm promoted to immediately drop everything and get a new anime ASAP. But I did so in this case because I received two unambiguous promotions from people who know my anime tastes well.

I only had a chance to watch Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru Episode 1 this morning, but after work today I'll try to squeeze in Episode 2. After that, I'll comment on the series thread itself.

But I'll say this, so far, looking at the anime industry bigger picture:

It's going to happen. I was doubtful after VRO and Gen'ei, but not now. One day they are going to make the "Gurren Lagann" to Madoka Magica's "NGE". I don't think this new show is it (but it's close, and might yet pull it off), but Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru Episode 1 is the closest I've seen yet to "Madoka Magica Episode 1, through a mirror, brightly". The day is coming when somebody pulls it off, and it will be glorious.

Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru gets a lot of key things right that VRO and Gen'ei were a fair bit off on. At least when it comes to being an effective response to Madoka Magica. There's 2 or 3 areas where I think the show is slightly missing the mark in that respect, but they're relatively minor compared to what it's getting completely right.

Two key things I'll mention briefly - Aesthetics and Truly wondrous/magical-seeming "other/combat world". These are the best magical girl outfits I've seen since Madoka Magica. And this is the most impressively SHAFT-y other-worldly "witch's barrier" I've seen since Madoka Magica.

However, I'm going to try to keep explicit Madoka Magica comparisons off the series thread itself, because Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru is a case where I'd agree with Solace - This show definitely should be kept out of PMMM's shadow. So on the series thread itself, I'll speak to what it's getting right, on its own merits, with minimal comparisons to other shows.

But in the "anime industry bigger picture" sense, this is wondrously close to the perfect answer to Madoka Magica (even if it is unintentional on the creators' parts). I thought I should share that observation with you.

Since you brought it up to Pocari Sweat... Trinity Seven Episode 2 was definitely lowbrow, but it still had a certain cleverness and creativity to it that keeps me engaged and interested. The MC is a bit more pervy than I'd like, but I've seen worse (it helps that I *think* his more pervy comments are at least half-joking, and self-aware in that sense).

I also think that Trinity Seven somehow manages to blend IS-style harem hijinks with serious plot, and make it all somehow work, and pretty seamlessly to. Better than IS itself did, imo.

Well I think you already know why I'm not liking Sora no Method? I'm obviously an inferior species that is unable to appreciate the high art of moe amirite?

Regarding Trinity seven... I actually tried it. At the very least it wasn't as terrible as Cross Ange. Cross Ange was really something .

Now switching to something completely random, how does this (first picture) and this rank on your moe scale. 'Cause to me it's f***ing moe to the point I'm almost tempted to play the VN (but I won't since they take far too much time). Something that black dress, pony tail, accessories on her neck, arms and also the piano.

There's a bunch of piss-fighting in the Shirobako thread at the moment where "moe hating elitsts" (exaggeration, they are not that elitist) are complaining about "stock moe girls" being in the series as they find it distracting. I didn't mind it as much as they weren't what I call 'derpblobs' or 'derp moe' (JC Staff and Kyoani seems to be biggest culprits for these types of characters), but the first 5 minutes of the show weren't very good. Afterwards though, when they explored the daily lives of an animation studio, I was quite interested. As for Glasshit, the less said the better... I wouldn't say that they've hit a rut just yet, how Shirobako turns out and what their next series is like will answer that question.

Not the biggest fan of Shaft, though they have produced some favourites of mine like ef tale of memories and Madoka Magica so they are not that bad. Kyoani... well it's Clannad After Story, Hyouka being top series with FMP + Haruhi on the good side and then everything else is either meh or gtfo tier, so I don't really have that good opinions on them. They've produced a lot of "trash" K-on and post K-on era with the only great series being Hyouka.

As for Ookami Shojo, oh boy. Only one reason why I'm watching this and that's Kanae Itou (don't you dare call me a Haak). Otherwise it is the bottom of the rung when it comes to shojo and the type of show that gives the demography a bad name.

Oh btw, Shigatsu. Anime of the season inc and perhaps the year if it goes the direction I want. Saying that I fucking loved it is an understatement considering this gave me all sorts of oldschool noitamina (Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile) feels.

On another note, Shirobako first episode was great! PAW back on track. Now I can stop raging (for now) .

Aww, you don't remember my Bioware and Bethesda rants a few years back?

Thanks for telling me but I already own Dragon Age .

Hello there my good sir! Yune is a fine name for a machine, but alas, my Thinkpad has no such name - interesting idea, though. And yes, I have been thought to be female by a fair number of people, so no worries.

As for hidden gems, Gugure! Kokkuri-san has been the biggest surprise so far. I keep a pretty steadily updated list of anime I follow each season on the "About Me" tab on my profile. So far my A rank series are Gogure and Akatsuki no Yona. Yona was prolly my most anticipated series for the Fall, and I am glad it delivered! Gogure is a complete surprise. B rank series include Chaika s2, Sora no Method, Log Horizon s2 and Grisaia.

There are a fair number of on the fence series this season for me, partly because their ep 1 was not much to go off of - okay only, not great, not horrible.
