I thought you were in the field of physics a few years ago. Now you're a professional translator? How did that switch come about?

I'm not the actual translator for the show, but I'm responsible for the subs overall. For Itsuten we haven't been given any official glossary and are choosing what we think is best.

Hi QB, I saw your sig that you're translating Itsuka Tenma and Dantalian. Just curious as to whether there are 'official' translations to names and terminologies provided to you (such as テンペロン・クローリー in episode 3 of Itsuten), or you are given the freedom to work them out yourself? Thanks for your work.

Hey, Quark! I have a question, and you're the perfect person to ask. Well, I've had ambitions of being a professional Japanese>English translator for a long time. I know a lot about the job and required skills(much of which I've learned from you), and everyday I'm learning more. However, one thing I've not been able to track down so easily is pay rates/wages for in-house and freelance translators. For example, like, say, each project you work on, how much do you make(approximately) and how are you paid(i.e. in total, hourly)? I'd really appreciate the info.

    Thanks.

I don't maintain or deal with torrents for any of the shows I was involved with fansubbing anymore. You're on your own, sorry. (Not that I don't have my own personal archive of the scripts and releases, but I'm not distributing them.)

Is there anywhere other than BakaBT where the torrents for Hataraki Man reside? I'd like to mention it in the Suggestions thread more often, but I can't point to the torrents there because the site includes licensed shows.

Like Arabesque, I'm very glad to hear you've survived this horrible event.

I'm glad to hear that you're alright. Has the area you're in been damaged severely?

That is so awesome man, I so envy your abilities! Wish I could learn japanese well/had someone to practice it with. I've picked up a few words and phrases by watching anime, but I wish I could understand something without the subs. Not to mention, I feel that even though translators do a really good job subbing, there's still some "meaning" that can be lost in translation simply due to how the language is. Which is kind of unfortunate because I really appreciate language and how it can be used, so I wish I could understand Japanese in its full glory :;(
