What bothered me most was the guys and the ending. Yukino and Maho were great strong/independent women. I thought Tsuda did them well. My fave relationship was Kazuma x Tsubasa. The little princess who couldn't grow up found the perfect guy to finally help her blossom. Who also ended up being the only remotely normal/real guy. And yes, the last 5 volumes were down in quality. Just seemed very strung out at the end. The problem with the ending is its lack of plausibility. Everything falls together too well for everyone. No one in relaity could be that lucky. But I figured Asaba would get with their daughter.
What gets me most about the series is Volume 15 when Soichiro raped Yukino. I'm amazed she was able to forgive him. I certainly wouldn't have. That's what really put a dampner on the series for me. I resent Tsuda for doing that to Yukino.
Nana isnt' shadowing. These two become best friends. Heck, they even virtually love each other. One of the great tragedies of Nana is that life gradually tears these virtual soulmates apart. Read it for the characters - they're worth it.
Confidential Confessions isn't just bad luck and unfortunate circumstances....not at all...but i get what you mean. Hard luck/tragic stories don't necessarily do it for me either. But these are done so well.
Actually, it was meant to be at #4. Forgot to make that edit.
Kare Kano is a decent manga. Yukino is probably the best female character I've seen in manga. Tsubasa and Maho are also solid. Kare Kano's one weakness is its males. They are all so incredibly soft, but worst of all - emo. Well, Soichiro, Asaba and Tonami are. Kazuma is the exception - he's cool. If you can handle a sanisited, sometimes ritzy, sometimes over-idealistic story, you'll like it. But at 21 volumes, it's a real investment to make to see this through.
HAve you ever seen a series called Kashimashi - Girl Meets Girl? Nearly any anime that is in the romance genre is either cheap or made into a madhouse. But Kashimashi - wow. This was done so exceptionally well. Even more amusing is that the love triangle involves 3 females, although one of them was originally a guy, but became a girl in a hilarious incident in the first episode.
Highly recommend Kashimashi. It now rests at #6 on my all time series list.
Hmm, i see. For some odd reason i did not see that post. "^^
Oh i know, a lot of people here dimiss a lot of things cause of their bias. It is another thing to support your couple but accept a few facts and a whole other to dismiss everything just cause it would make your ship not that shippable. If you get what i mean. "^^
Oh you mean when Shirley understood Lulu had a problem and took Suzu out of the pic and stuff? I think someone posted it here as well, not sure?
And you mean in LJ? Do you remember the username? Might be on my friends-list.
