    A couple of things I needed to clarify on before I start writing;

    1) Should I continue where you left off, start over, or is it up to me?

    2) You mentioned guidelines as to how go about writing this fic. What are they exactly?

You can make mecha anime nice (case in point: Gundam 08th MS Team is one of the best attempts), but realism is a double-edged sword.

Well sure realism as far as the physics aspect as well but I don't think throwing in gun-battles while mobile suits are engaging each other would be THAT hard for an anime to do. I mean, christ, look at R2-they had Suzaku and Bismarck dueling with swords! How hard would it be to have some gun-battles on the ships while big-giant-mecha are fighting outside?

I know I sound like a broken record but I just wanted to make my point clear on what I meant by realism- I realize the hundred different reasons why Mobile suits are unrealistic.

Anyway I found the forum that you posted on and I am going to post on there in a second. Chances are I will at first post my work on my blog before posting on, performance anxiety I guess. I do thank you for this though as this will give me something to do until Kannagi finishes so I can review that.

And for future ref-my email is

From what I hear, R2 was shifted to another time slot and Sunrise pretty much ordered the director to rewrite the first part in order to introduce it to new viewers. That, of course, affected the second part and...

Problem with mecha anime and realism is that it never works. Period. Mobile suits have no advantage that can't be duplicated with twice the effect and half the cost by other means, they're structurally unsound, and have no role in anything except the most-extreme-that-it-can-be-ignored part of warfare. Most mobile suits couldn't stand in a field without sinking into the ground, just walking on roads would crater them and make them bad for everyone else, they'd have no traction and would slide down hills, they're vulnerable to air strikes, can't carry as large a gun as a tank, have to have less armor, etc.

It's even worse in space, because ultimately there's no real role for humans in space, or for fighters period. Point defense systems would be automated, targeting at such long distances would be automated, and the only real types of weapons not attached to the ships would be missiles, and those would be delivered by missile buses (which wouldn't need pilots to function). Boarding actions would be suicidal, as missiles and point-defense would tear apart the barding vesel immediately.

You can make mecha anime nice (case in point: Gundam 08th MS Team is one of the best attempts), but realism is a double-edged sword.

I have to admit that does sound engaging and sounds like it could have been handled well. To me it sounds like Sunrise has shit luck with sequels of series, (whether it be 50 or 25 episodes), Code Geass R2 is my prime example really since that's the latest Sunrise show with a sequel I have seen from start to finish. I'd go in further into to what I mean but I have no idea if you have finished the series or not.

At any rate it would be nice to see a mecha anime that could go on some what of a realism spec as far as using conventional combat. I mean it would be cool to see mechas as the main force but see something like a group of marine's or some equivalent sneak onto a ship and engage with forces in boarding-action-like battles. This is probably to western or gun-ho an idea though so I doubt I will ever see something like this in anime.

In reply to your last post in the fanfiction thread:

Really I don't get it. Why do people love this stuff so much? It baffles me as much as the people who love Twilight in the states.

That's fine; to tell the truth some guidance on how the story goes would be great.

That's fine I am in no rush.

So long as you stick to the general outline (which only goes to episode 5-ish) and follow some general principles, you're welcome to try. One reason I doubt I'll do much more on it is because it was so rapidly departing from the series as to make a side-by-side rewrite almost impossible over the long run.

I'll get back to you: I have no time now.

If that means its okay for me to do my personal re-write, then yes I would love them.

Sad news about Reformation; that was honestly my favorite fic out of most of the 00 section.

Weekly drabbles are flowing weekly and are at FFN, but my internet is crap right now so I can't see the latest episodes. Reformation is more or less on indefinite freeze: other priorities, both IRL and in writing, and by the time I get back to it it may just be too much trouble to resume.

Pretty much finished a separate project, and am absurdly close to finishing a major project for 00, but can't seem to tie together a proper conclusion.
