It would cause a drop in his reputation, that is sure. The question is, does he care?

In general, the series was *fantastic*. The botched ending has not made me any less likely to re-watch the episodes. If Kawamori can keep up that kind of storytelling, which makes me come back even if I know that the end is disappointing in a way, then he is doing his job.

But the difference between excellence and a classic is getting all things lined up correctly... the ending is what precludes Macross Frontier from being a classic. Had Kawamori gone through with the set-up of the prior episodes, I think everybody would call it the greatest Macross ever.

Harem endings are a plague upon anime viewership, that is for sure.

Given that the romance overtook most of the plot, we should have seen a definite resolution and IŽd love to have any interviewer take this grievance to Kawamori. And, man, do I really want to know what the rest of the writers thought of the ending. But short of travelling to Japan and learning Japanese, I guess weŽll never know.

Who wouldnŽt? I find this whole situation to be perplexing, to be honest. Kawamori was able to give us definite endings before, so what exactly changed?

Going for inconclusive endings as to not piss off a part of your fan-base is the biggest weaksauce type of ending possible. Not to mention that it is bad storytelling.

Oh, I know that it was a "no choice" ending. But that does not mean that things were not decided already. Ah, well... unless Kawamori smokes some drugs and decides the change the ending for the blue-ray release, we will have to wait until the movie. If we are lucky, that is...

Well, yeah we sure want to have a resolute, but still plausible ending that still reverberates with the original series In which I will give my support to AruShery if there were ever a resolution in the movie (although I somehow highly doubt it. Cue Kawamori blaming Alto again ) :3 Until we know whether there is a resolution or not for sure, no matter what fans want, we can only cross our fingers, prepares for the worst and hope for the best :x

Also, am I the only one who thinks that I like to contradict what mainstream Sheryl fans think? It seems like magnuskn is obsessively trying to change my opinion about the ending in which I think AruShery end is not canon as there is no resolution Seems like everyone is out for my blood if opened my mouth and give my opinion

At this rate, though, we can only wait for the release or more information. I hope that this month's Newtype/any anime magazine at least got info on the movie :x

I will be honest to say that Ranka ending in the movie will make the movie become such an alien that I might consider it not being a part of canon storyline to Macross F, in fact it would really hurt my head since the original series done Ranka's department pretty badly :/

If the movie is gonna be having a Sheryl end, I would probably be happy too But sadly, implication is the best that we can get from episode 25, the romance division was somehow cut off with that ending of no confession. :x

And although the movie may (AND HOPEFULLY! ) have resolution, it certainly doesn't change the ending in the series in which the no-confession happen... Unless someone can move Kawa-ass to a ship to Antartica, change Ohnogi's name to Kawamori Shouji then interview him... Now isn't that a good idea?

Well, it's okay to go for the no-harem ending too, since there were also some infos from the interviews that can be interpreted as that. Specifically, the "Alto is the one who have to chose" one... It's like he decided to blame it all to Alto

Although I will never ever accept the Sheryl end interpretation as the canon one While I am not Kawa-ass, I by any means, can understand that he want to make an ending which have the triangler intact :x Damn him!!! :E

Eh, but I was on crack there xDDD Bring that to Romance Thread before KiNa spanks us~ xDD
