The only news was that they are planning to release the last volumes of the novel based on the original author's notes. I haven't heard anything since that plan, but I assume the work is still in progress.

Good news. Now we can see the ending the author intended. I didn't mind the anime ending cause it gave everyone closure regardless of what you thought of the anime but I always wanted to see what the original author had in mind.
