Robot helicopter controlled by human mind [VIDEO]:

"University of Minnesota released a YouTube video Tuesday that depicts a team
of graduate students controlling a small aircraft using only their thoughts.

The team, headed by biomedical engineering professor Bin He, engineered a way
to use a person’s thoughts to navigate a small robot helicopter.

Karl LaFleur, a graduate student, explained in the video that if you imagine
making a fist with your right hand, the robot turns to the right. If you imagine
making a fist with both hands, the robot flies up, said Alex Doud, another
graduate student."

First Carrier Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo Launched:

"USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) conducted the first aircraft carrier-borne end-to-
end at-sea test of the Surface Ship Torpedo Defense (SSTD) System, the Navy
announced, June 6.

The SSTD System combines the passive detection capability of the Torpedo
Warning System that not only finds torpedoes, but also classifies and tracks
them, with the hard-kill capability of the Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo, an
encapsulated miniature torpedo. The at-sea tests were conducted May 15-19.

The Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo is being developed by the Pennsylvania State
University Applied Research Laboratory (PSU-ARL). It is designed to locate, home
in on and destroy hostile torpedoes. Over the four-day testing period, Bush
engaged seven torpedo-like targets with seven Countermeasure Anti-Torpedoes.
Designed to validate the end-to-end of the system, the testing proved successful."

I am surprised than they haven't made that before. Shouldn't a torpedo be easier to intercept than a supersonic missile ?

It is the interceptors that travel underwater. They don't have the maneuverability as they do in air.

India Developing Robotic Soldiers to Replace Humans In Warfare:

"With futuristic warfare in mind, India is working to develop robotic soldiers as
part of efforts to boost unmanned fighting capabilities, joining a select group of
countries in this endeavour.

Under the project being undertaken by DRDO, robots would be developed with
very high level of intelligence to enable them to differentiate between a threat
and a friend. These can then be deployed in difficult warfare zones, like the Line
of Control (LoC), a step that would help avert the loss of human lives."

EPFL presents a modular aircraft at Paris Air Show (w/ Video):

project, being developed at EPFL since 2009, envisions a modular aircraft
consisting of a flying wing onto which it is possible to attach one, two or three
capsules as required. Its concept allows us to take a glimpse at the air
transportation of tomorrow, which is meant to be more flexible, closer to our
needs, more efficient and less energy-consuming. For the first time, a model of
the Clip-Air plane will be presented at the Paris Air Show from 17 to 19 June 2013."
