Fate was by herself today. Well treating the lawn with chemicals didn’t require a lot of people and she could use the extra hours during the weekend. Then again it was boring as hell and she couldn’t use the tractor on the banks. Turning around and making another pass towards the back patio she noticed that Princess was standing out there looking at her holding a bottle of water in her hand. She started to walk towards the tractor but stopped when Fate called out to her.
“I wouldn’t be walking out with all this herbicide in those pretty little sandals of yours.” Fate continued on her way to finish up the last bit she had to apply. Princess just stood there watching like she always did. Fate had half a mind to just leave after she was done but something about the way that girl sanding around made her pull up to the patio and cut the engine.
“I, um, thought you might be thirsty. Fate...”
“Well,” Fate took the water without leaving the seat of the tractor “It seems like I got you interested in me.” Princess didn’t seem to get the “interest” the landscaper had implied leading her make the wrong comment.
“You are interesting” she brushed some of her hair from the side of her face to calm herself.
Fate took the chance to pose a little. “I’m interesting? Do you want to know more? A dinner? Movie? Something else? You know how to sneak out at night so…” Fate got cut off when the blushing girl brought a finger to her mouth telling her to hush. Fate grinned and under a whisper pushed the subject further. “So the princess did sneak off away from daddy’s watchful eye. You dirty little girl you…”
“OH GARDENER!” A man’s voice poked up from somewhere near the house. Fate pulled back and resumed a more professional posture.
‘Landscaper, Asshole’
A business man emanated from the house and proceeded towards Fate. Without any question in his tone he addressed her, “You need to fix the flowers in the garden around the patio and make sure that they grow healthy.” With that he turned to his daughter “Come now. No need to bother the help. Besides you have to prepare for our guests.” With that he and Princess walked inside. Fate sat for a minuet before she started up the tractor.
“Yes Masta”
Fate grunted at her current job. What Mr. Takamachi wanted done to the flower bed had already added an additional two hours to her job at the property. It seems as though a little get together had been planed. With the work that needed to be done on the flowers being so extensive she ended up working while Princess and two other women had a tea party. They were talking about some nonsense bull about husbands, who had money, what the fashions where…
‘Oh why don’t they talk about something interesting like their favorite positions or how they can get off themselves in an elegant manner?’ Fate looked up from her work.
‘And wear shorter skirts!’
Satisfied with her work Fate picked up her equipment and returned it to the truck. Getting the work form out of the front she jotted down the changes to her schedule as well as the additional chemicals used. Once one with that she made her way to the front door and was greeted by a butler. After stating her business she waited at the door for Mr. Takamachi to arrive.
“What is it?”
“I need you to sign this” she pointed the work form at the man.
“I already signed the work contract for today.”
“But you made changes to the work request by having me tend to the flower bed. Your signature confirms the additional time and resources spent on your property.”
“I do not need to sign anything to confirm your work. In fact girl, I was making sure you did your job and not making our investment in your employer wasteful.”
“There are witnesses that you made a change to you the work request. If you do not sign then the penalty charges will out weigh the addition cost of the extra service provided. It would be very easy to prove that you were sealing services.”
“Fine, hand me that clip board.” He took the board and scribbled down his name “I will warn you though,” he said returning the papers to Fate, “I will contact your employer and informed them of the lack of professionalism you displayed on the job.” With that he closed the door on Fate’s face.
“You do that,” she mumbled heading back to the truck, “but I bust delinquent customers like I bust the balls of newbies.”
