In 6 days of sales New Testament 8 sold 111,443 copies according to Oricon's estimates.

Chaos2Frozen 2013-09-18 20:54

As expected, a very stable sales number same as the last few volumes.

ACertainStark 2013-09-18 21:00

Good stuff. Stable and does really well as usual.

Goldzero 2013-09-18 21:28

we found our hardcore fanbase. good to see index still tops in one of the best LN in terms of sell(now all we need is touma to be ranked on top 3 of LN characters as well as the Accelerator(pray hamazura does better this time around).

Bakaizer 2013-09-18 22:44

may ask besides SAO what other LNs are on rival with index popularity

Are there any others?

BTW I feel like this volume should do better than usual though especially because of Mikoto, it would be a shame if it didn't.

Well, she wasn't on the cover and you know how otaku can act just by that... to think NT3 sold far more than NT4 only for the cover makes me sad.

Hiss13 2013-09-18 23:56

I'm just glad that the novel sales have finally stabilized. TaMnI NT will probably sell consistently at 150,000 per volume at this point forward.

I guess the preview in Dengeki's magazine didn't make it clear that she didn't screw up going with Touma...

Me too :D I just hope that one day far into the future, the light novel industry will be bigger in the US and then Index will come over and sell a lot! One day... after the series ends and BT will have translated everything for a long long time already :heh:

ZerothBastion 2013-09-19 02:00

Wonder how the sales would've went if Othinus was on the front cover

With that hot picture of hers, 300,000 maybe? :heh:

Chaos2Frozen 2013-09-19 04:12

Next volume then.

Never! I am sorry but until the novel series is finished and until B-T [read: js06] finishes translating all of then, I hope to never see an official English release. :heh:

They will never match js06's speed anyway. :eyespin:

Haruhi, Monogatari, Mahouka, OreImo, Durarara... The 100k breakers.

belatkuro 2013-09-19 09:20

Accel World as well.

Accel World is more along the lines of Hidan no Aria and Highschool DxD... Around the higher 50K range.

Then again, I've been completely out of the loop for a while :heh: Can't remember if Haganai still breaks 100k :heh:

Actually by now SAO has exceeded Index's per volume sales.

So it's Haruhi > SAO > Mahouka > Monogatari > Index

belatkuro 2013-09-19 10:19

If you're talking about the first weeks, then yes, AW sells above 50k. But that's because there are less days counted in the weekly Oricon count because of its release date. AW still hits 100k in the long run.
June 3-9, first week:
*3, *66,441 *66,441 Accel World Vol.14
June 17 - 23, 3 weeks before it dropped off:
*8, **9,829 112,556 Accel World Vol.14

Mahouka also doesn't break 100k in the first week like in here:
Aug 5-11, first week:
*3, *49,981 *49,981 Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Vol.11
But it still reaches 100k after a few weeks.
Aug 26 - Sept 1, last charted then dropped off:
15, **6,777 123,101 Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Vol.11

Haganai as of Sep 2- 7
*3, 17,498 152,717 Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Vol.9

Index sold above 100k in just a week and will sell more in the following weeks.
NT7 sold 159,194 in 4 weeks.

So it would be Haruhi > SAO > Index >= Haganai > Mahouka > AW

tl;dr I know :heh:

kuroishinigami 2013-09-19 21:26

Monogatari sells more per volume than Index, so you might want to slip it in there.
