While I love reading backgrounds and character specifics, I suppose what irks me the most about them is that I can never remember which page such-and-such character's most-recent updated background is on, and I can barely keep track of who owns which character.
Anyone have an easier way? Apart from copy-and-paste into a text file (and losing all formatting like bold and such)?
While it might be hard for those who create multiple characters, why not do what Kha (and I eventully) do, simply ad a link in the signature?

....Maybe. If I have the time, just maybe I'll do my fanon modification of a canon character, namely my favourite Gil Graham. Maybe I'll make it so his real name was Gilbert Graham or something. :{
- Being the 'governor' of Velka State/VAR, Carim automatically has a seat in the BoDir, which is also the seats for the command- that's why she has Tier3 authorization to unlock limiters.
- Do the fanon and wait for authorization heheh.

Interesting backgrounds here, would explain why despite being more of a military organization, the TSAB somehow uses civilian terminology (clerks). Although a concrete timeline would make this background much better IMHO :) GJ btw.
- i'll churn that out in due time- because, i still have to clarify things.

- i have enough mental capacity to do things and remember all the details
- just incase i go insane, i have soft copies of my data and some established lines- i'll share them one day.

On the problem of finding profiles: It might be easier for the creators, especially ones with multiple characters or profiles, to compile their works into a single file that can then be posted into a single post link in the future, to keep the profiles organized. Having soft copies handy is also a good thing.

I made a siggy out of it, but haven't compiled the new elements together because of the BLUE CHEESE BOMB it'll become. They will once the third OVA is up. I'll load the refined skill tree (and the henshins of both barrier jackets hopefully) tomorrow morning. I feel like a ton of bricks now...

Maybe when this thread goes hyper-explosion, we could get Kha and Skyfall to modify their opening post to cram in post-links to particular character, universe, trivias, etc of posters by alphabetical order or something.
Since from the looks of things, things may get more messy as we've went from mere characters to devices to vapourfics to trivias to even universal expansions. I'm sure there's more of Device-talks, OVAs in the near future and stuff from all sides of the ball park, and I still have Ancient Belka Lost History Part 2,3, and 4, accompanying character data in that expansion along with Gilbert Graham : ~ A Classical Story.

That's a pretty good idea there: it'll give us a quick place with which to look up character profiles at a glance. Not sure on Skyfall, but fortunately Kha got the second post. What do you think der Kleriker, would you mind? :heh:

Yeah it's a good idea and I'm cool on it. Frees me up to do another Liquid Bluecheese Bomb later too. :joke:

Anyways, to do what you preach, here's Kaylin's scattered Profile compiled in a single post, including the most recent bits, and minor updates to the old profile. Will also be updating this post whenever more character info is posted, whether on Kay or another character.
Starting off, The Biography of Kaylin "Kay" Mathis, massive edition :heh:

Birthdate: July 4, MC Year 0054
Height: 5” 8’
Weight: 125 lbs

Biography: Kay is a self-proclaimed dimensional relic hunter, whose sole mission is to find, catalogue, and preserve ancient artifacts and relics for the Altoseim National Library in Midchilda. Brash and cocky in her demeanor, and yet refined in her methods, this young woman pursues archaeology out of her dreams to understand ancient Midchilda and other magic-based civilizations, which has long fascinated her in its untapped scope. She is especially fond of magical devices and artifacts, especially rare Belkan Armed Devices and ancient Intelligent devices. As such, her specialties include the preservation and restoration of devices and relics, and also computer and spell data manipulation to better extract data out of any devices she unearths, and also to better search for related data within the public domains of the Infinite Library Net. Kay is also the avid trans-universal traveller, having visited many TSAB Administrated worlds in various expeditions, and often exploring the known histories of various cultures, both ancient and modern, from different worlds to add to her knowledge that may be the key to further understanding Ancient Midchilda.
(A colleague allegedly admitted that out of all the cultures, Kay seems most interested in a field he knows from her only as "Anime Culture", from the 97th Non-Administrated World. What exactly this culture entails remains a mystery.)
Typically the lone wolf, Kay has foresaken the company of most people to better focus on her passion, relying only on her friends and colleagues - of which she has few - for work-related matters. While this typically gives her the impression of being a loner, Kay is a persuasive speaker, able to extract favors from even the stingiest of people, through whatever means necessary - even at rare times, blackmail and extortion. As such, she has amassed herself various connections throughout the archaeological world, and even some shady connections to various underground black markets, even though her love of justice prevents her from undertaking in any illegal activites. These connections give her easy access to areas and sites that would be off limits to most field archaeologists.
Despite her preference for working alone, Kay has created three sentient AI companions to assist her in her journeys, each specializing in different roles relevant for her work: Shinji, a male AI, efficient at data extraction and World Net research; Rey, who assists in basic artifact research and relic restoration, and Asuka, Kay's combat AI. Shinji and Rey are based inside Kay's storage device Khaydarin, which is her multipurpose orange-tinted visor, used for scanning and detection, while Asuka resides inside the Armed device Galatea. Each programmed with learning subroutines, the AI's can grow and learn, and have already shown their own distinct personalities, with Shinji being the "kind yet wimpy type", Rey being the "silent, stoic introvert", and Asuka as the loud and brash "tsundere", as Kay describes them. (There is a significant question of whether they developed their personalities themselves, or Kay somehow molded them in such a manner...) . Despite their various quirks, Kay regards her AI's as her children, although she encourages them to treat her as their friend, rather than their mother.
While primarily a civilian archaeologist, Kay is also self-trained in defensive magic and close combat, having to survive countless dangers from various sources, from criminal organizations of various sizes to grave robbers, interdimensional pirates etc. She typically uses various artifacts and devices that she unearthed from her digs, her favored weapon being Galatea, a katana-like cartridge equipped armed device programmed with sonic-based spells and attacks. Galatea is unique for being the only device in Kay's collection with one of her own AI (Asuka) implanted, a move necessitated by the irreparably damaged and corrupted state of the original device AI when it was first found, and thus prompting its subsequent deletion and replacement. A B+ Rank mage by TSAB rankings, Kay prefers avoidance of conflict if necessary, but can be fearsome when forced to defend her worksites, with her tendency to become unrestrained in the use of various artifact powers depending on the enemy. This tendency once led her to nearly use an unearthed Jewel Seed against the Arcean Mafia, if not for the intervention of a TSAB Enforcer detachment led by Enforcer Fate T. Harloawn.
As of current, Kay continues on her quest for ancient Midchilda, although she is now under the watchful eye of the TSAB for her earlier actions, and is expected to submit relic and artifact find reports to the newly formed Lost Property Riot Force 6 for study and analysis.

Biography of Kaylin “Kay” Mathis: Complete Spell List Part I
Spoiler for length:
Despite her preference of avoiding physical engagement of threats as much as possible, Kay has been involved in many battles in the past, having to fend off the likes of grave robbers, criminal lords, pirates, drug smugglers, automated defense systems and at times the TSAB. The archaeologist is a firm believer of Belka-type magic, although she uses Mid-childa style magic due to her stubborn belief that the current Neo-Belka style is “untrue to the essence of the original”. While proficient in only a few sonic-based spells, Kay often uses powerful several one-time spells that she acquires from information derived from any artifacts, relics and databases that she comes across. As such, Kaylin is most dangerous in one of her work sites, as she has no qualms in using powerful magic artifacts and weapons to defend her work when faced with significant opposition, even going so far as using Lost Logia, as long as she can reduce the overall damage to her worksite.
Also adding to Kaylin’s arsenal is her collection of Armed and Intelligent Devices she has collected in the course of her expeditions. She is known to test these devices at least once in a real combat situation, and even when there are no threats nearby (Countless species of exotic wildlife has been sacrificed for the benefit of magical spell testing, often ending up as the archaeologist’s dinner…). She once had thirty such devices in her inventory, although asides from a few storage devices, most have been confiscated by the TSAB following her reckless behavior against the Arcean Mafia (despite the fact that this particular criminal organization was not destroyed by Kay’s Jewel Seed, but by a Plasma Lancer Phalanx Shift from a certain mage…), and subsequently, any Class A devices and artifacts unearthed by Kay in her expeditions must be submitted to the TSAB for cataloging and storage. Despite this restriction, Kay continues to horde select devices to replace her lost collection, often using magic nullification spells to hide their obvious magical nature, although this spell is effective only for Class A - devices.
Out of all the devices in her collection, two are the most precious to Kaylin, and the most important to her work. The first is the storage device Khaydarin, a single piece wrap-around, orange-tinted visor custom made by Kay for field use. Asides from being a functional safety visor (and spiffy fashion accessory), Khaydarin is also her primary device for the casting of various scanning and detection spells, useful when finding buried artifacts or hidden objects, which include:
- Macro Sight: gives Kay binocular vision, allowing her to visually spot objects several miles away.
- Micro Sight: gives Kay microscopic vision, to better perceive microscopically tiny objects.
- Starlight Search: Working in a similar principle to technologically-based starlight scopes, this spell amplifies nearby low-light sources and amplifies them, giving Kay the ability to see under low-light or dark conditions, but being magic based, the resolution and clarity of the images is leaps better than contemporary technology. Using this ability makes the visor glow with a dull orange tint due to the nature of the magic, thus this spell is not used in conditions where stealth is necessary.
- Heat Search: Khaydarin uses infra-red detection to reveal environmental heat signatures, and as with Starlight Search, the sensitivity and clarity of the images are much better compared to technologically based systems. Unlike Starlight Search, Heat Search does not leave a tell-tale activation signature, making it desirable for stealthy action.
- Ground Radar Deep Scan (GRDS): A magic array set up on the ground scans the ground below using radar, which is then perceived through her visor. This is her primary spell in detecting most non-magical buried artifacts.
- Sonic Scan: Khaydarin’s only audio-based detection system, this spell gives Kaylin the ability to hear and perceive sounds throughout the range of audio spectrums of any volume, from ultrasound to infrasonic sounds that cannot be heard by conventional ears (No gossip is safe when Kay’s around…). This ability is most usually used in conjunction with the Armed Device Galatea to better control Kay’s sonic spells, and it can also be used for underwater detection ala Sonar.
- Remote Sensing Scan (RSS): Khaydarin can be used to visually perceive a location that is beyond visual sight and behind cover, at maximum targets can be visually spotted up to 100 miles away. The energy consumption for this spell is an enormous drain on the B+ rank Kay even at short ranges, and is thus used only for the visual confirmation of known distant targets.
- Ether Scan: This powerful scanning spell is used to locate the faintest sources of magical energy; as such it is used to confirm the location of magical items, and also the detection of mages within the surrounding area. As with RSS, this spell’s massive energy consumption relegates it to infrequent use.
- Penetration Sensor: A much weaker version of the RSS spell, this spell gives Kay the ability to see clearly behind solid objects of any composition within a few meters. Used for peering behind walls or other obstacles. For places expected to be dark, such as the inside of a box, a supporting illumination spell is used to make the spell effective. (When in dire financial straits, Kay has been known to sell this service of Khaydarin to prospective clients, labeling it “The Glance of Heaven”).
- D-Wave Scan: This incredibly powerful scanning spell allows Kay to perceive the extradimensional distortions in the surrounding physical space, allowing her to pick out the weakest points of extradimensional stability that enable her to use dimension-jumping spells using the least amount of energy – clearly a need for someone of Kay’s level. This spell is also used in the detection of tell-tale signs of dimensional disturbance left behind through the use of extra-dimensional phenomena, or dimensional weapons or artifacts. As with other high level scans, this ability is used infrequently to preserve Kay’s strength for other jobs.
- G-Wave Scan: Similar in vein to the D-Wave Scan, the G-Wave Scan allows for the detection of minute distortions in a gravitational field. It is used for the detection of massive, yet invisible objects that cannot be detected by previously mentioned scanning abilities.
It should be noted that Kay can use two or more of these spells in combination to further enhance detection abilities, although doing so increases the amount of magical energy needed to cast multiple spells. All of Kay’s detection spells can be coupled with a snapshot spell, which is the magical equivalent of a camera, used to capture images that is then stored as digital images that can be read by both magic and technologically based imaging devices and computers. Khaydarin’s functions are managed by two of Kay’s AI “children” Shinji and Rey, the former managing information gathering, retrieval and collection of the scanned images, and the latter responsible for the execution and analysis of the various scans.
Biography of Kaylin “Kay” Mathis: Complete Spell List Part II
Spoiler for length:
The second most important device in Kay’s arsenal is the Armed Device Galatea, with a history quite different from Khaydarin’s, which was a custom-made device.
Galatea was first encountered by Kay on Year 70 inside an ancient Belkan armory on the outskirts of the Lombarda, north of Arcea. To her surprise Kay was ambushed by an armored Knight wielding a massive broadsword, apparently going berserk. The Knight was finally subdued after running through several hastily assembled tripwires that Kay had laid down at the vault entrance to ward off intruders. The broadsword transformed into a katana, and for Kay’s second surprise, there was nobody inside the suit of armor – at which point the sword, Galatea revealed himself. Galatea revealed that “he” had been given guard duty at the vault 800 years ago when their Belkan masters stored their most powerful weapons inside, for fear of their arsenal being discovered after they were forced to abandon the site following a retreat. The blade had been given that duty due to his unique ability to control the movement of any inaminate object or person that she comes into contact with. Unfortunately, this same ability was degrading Galatea’s magic-based program, as it had no linker core with which to draw power in performing this ability, and thus was forced to cannibalize on the meager magic used by its computer core. With centuries of service to masters that had abandoned him, Galatea’s overuse of this ability had left his Linker Core badly corrupted, and his last battle with Kay had left his program terminally damaged. Despite Kay’s attempts at data restoration and magic energy transference, Galatea’s program was beyond repair, and it would be only a matter of time before the program would eventually collapse. Throughout this ordeal, Galatea had befriended Kaylin’s then young AIs, especially the cranky Asuka, and after it was clear that Kay’s skills would not be able to save him, Galatea had requested for the last usable remnants of her combat and spells programs integrated into Asuka’s programming, and also to have the device in which he resided in reformatted – an act that would totally delete the damaged AI, much to the vehement protests of Asuka and her siblings. In the end, Kay and her AI’s complied with Galatea’s wishes, and Asuka was transplanted into the sword to act as its new AI, while keeping the original name of the weapon in honor of their lost friend.
In its current incarnation, this device takes the form of a katana, with a pistol clip type cartridge system at the hilt, with each magazine holding 12 .22 caliber magic rounds each. Despite being a Belkan armed device designed for close combat magic, Galatea is used more as a “caster” sword, using Midchilda-based ranged and support magic due to Kay’s preferences. It is programmed with a plethora of sonic-based attacks and spells, which Kay uses for all sorts of utility and defense functions. Asuka, Kaylin’s combat AI, is responsible for the spellcasting and combat management functions of Galatea, and she can use spells and abilities that she gained when the original AI’s programs were integrated into Asuka.
As a result, Kaylin can use Galatea’s ability to control objects and people, aptly named Possession. When used, this ability allows Galatea to gain complete faculty of Kaylin’s motor functions, while still keeping Kay in control. Kay utilizes this ability to significantly enhance her shoddy sword fighting skills, turning her into an able swordswoman by letting Galatea use her own body for fighting. And unlike the case with Galatea’s original AI, Asuka can draw on Kay’s linker core for power, ensuring that Asuka does not share the fate of the original Galatea. Complete trust must be present when performing this spell, as Asuka has the possibility of pushing Kay’s body too far in physical combat; constant communication is thus vital for the spell to be useful in a real combat situation. When in Possession, Kay’s hair changes from chocolate brown to Maroon, and she gains a translucent white jacket cape, which acts as her close combat barrier jacket.
Asides from Possession, Galatea can be used to cast short ranged sonic spells and abilities, which are listed in the following:
- Disorient Wave: This area spell targets the inner ears of people within a 40 meter radius, causing them to lose their sense of orientation and balance; targets experience vertigo, nausea, and extreme motion sickness, even when standing still. This spell is not typically used in combat, and is not used often, as Kay has to let the spell run for a few moments before any noticeable effects manifest themselves, leaving her vulnerable to attack (Also, this spell can be incredibly messy when used in a densely populated space, as mass vomiting and expectoration is sure to follow…). Also, despite being the caster Kay herself can be affected by this spell, and thus has to wear ear protection, handily provided by Khaydarin.
- Disorient Blast: A more combat oriented version of Disorient Wave, this ability uses a shockwave to deliver the effects of the previous spell in a single direction. Easier to use and much more effective in combat than Disorient Wave, this spell nonetheless requires more energy than the former spell to cast, and it only has a maximum effective range of 10 meters, a quarter the radius of the previous spell. Despite its limitations, it’s still Kay’s preferred ranged attack in standard combat situations.
- Liquefaction: This vibration-based ability allows Kay to liquefy objects by stabbing Galatea into the target. Galatea then sends out nanomolecular oscillations in the target’s molecular structure, completely turning even the most solid objects into molten slags of liquid. This ability requires prolonged contact between the target object and Galatea depending on the size of the object to be liquefied, limiting its applications in combat; as such, it is used more for “soft” excavations, when blasting is not an option. Also, due to its relative silence it is much better suited for stealthy infiltrations of fortified structures.
- Sonic Breaker: A more powerful version of Liquefaction, this attack works on the same principle, but with increased power output, resulting in the object shattering explosively instead of liquefying. More effective in combat than its slower counterpart spell, Sonic Breaker is used to shatter heavy armor or blast through solid objects quickly.
- Lullaby: Using low frequency infrasonic waves emitted from Galatea’s blade, Kay can slowly induce people in the surrounding area to sleep. As with Disorient Wave, this spell has to be active for several moments before any desirable effects are noticed, and as with the former spell Kay has to wear ear protection to protect her from the effects of this spell. This spell is used more often than Disorient Wave, despite its higher energy consumption.
- Dome of Silence: Galatea can create a soundproof barrier in a small area that prevents sounds from coming in or out of the barrier. Sound waves can still travel inside the barrier, thus this spell is useful in providing privacy from eavesdropping, and is also used to silence any stray noise Kay might make when trying to hide from potential enemies.
- Dome of Solitude: Similar in principle to the Dome of Silence, the Dome of Solitude also silences sounds created inside the barrier, leaving the area inside completely silent. As a firm believer in meditation, Kay uses this spell in her sessions to better concentrate. This spell can also be used to silence guards or sentries, since like Dome of Silence this spell prevents sounds from getting in or out of the barrier.
- Zankantou Daisharin: One of Kay’s few physically oriented attacks, this move has Kay pulling back Galatea behind her, then throwing it like a boomerang to hit distant opponents. As Asuka notes (with much embarrassment), Kay has the habit of voicing out various attack yells in the language called Japanese (from the 97th Non-Administered World) during this move, especially the line “Tobe! Hien no Gotoku! Zankantou! Dai Sha Rin!!!” before launching the blade.
To this day, Galatea is still Kay’s most favored weapon, with Asuka performing admirably in combat against various enemies. However, both Kay and Asuka are still trying to unlock Galatea’s final mystery: it’s Full Drive mode, which was the first form of Galatea they had faced in combat.
Biography of Kaylin “Kay” Mathis: Miscellaneous Part I
Spoiler for length:
- Despite being born to mage archaeologist parents Gin and Megu Mathis, Kay had little interest in her parent’s work during her childhood years, and up until her teenage years, she never displayed any innate like for the field. As a single child Kay preferred to be the tomboyish one, expressing more interest in automobiles, computers and fighting amongst her male friends when she was still living in Gaea with her parents. Kay’s passion for Ancient Midchilda and Magical Societies in general was kindled during a Midchilda Geographic Society expedition to the Rhea province in Midchilda, where they would meet the Scrya Clan for an annual meeting. It was during their month-long stay with the nomads that the 11-year old Kay’s interest gradually grew through the stories, myths and legends that the Scrya elders would read to her. Out of all these stories, the one that Kay remembered the most were their stories on the history of the Holy Belkan Empire. By the end of the expedition, culminating in the discovery and excavation of artifacts called Jewel Seeds, Kay was already actively participating in the various activities performed in the expedition, to the best of her abilities at the time.
Kay’s newfound love for archaeology would be a bittersweet one, as shortly thereafter she would lose her father, and several of her friends in the Society when the investigator ship they were on was destroyed in an accident – the same ship carrying the Jewel Seeds excavated in the expedition. Extremely devastated, yet blaming no one, Kay would nonetheless pursue archaeology not just for her own love of the field, but to honor those lost in the accident.
Rey: …Asuka, please don’t cry… Asuka: *sniffling sounds* It’s just some onions that’s all… Shinji: You can smell onions?
[Asuka owns Shinji with logic bomb]
- Kay has a lot of respect for her childhood friend Yuuno Scrya, especially following the aftermath of the Jewel Seed incident. While having known each other for a brief moment, it was Yuuno’s enthusiasm with his work that set the ball rolling for Kay’s decision to pursue archaeology. She is quite a big fan of his award-winning written works and journals, especially on subjects dealing with ancient Midchilda and Belka society. She has yet to meet him again after 11 years, and looks forward to the time when they can both meet.
Asuka: Who?
- While Kay is quite well funded in most of her expeditions by the Altoseim National Library (and at times the Midchild Geographic Society), her reputation as a rogue means that most of her funds are sequestered, reserved only for when she requires the requisition of additional necessary equipment. In most cases, Kay has to request withdrawal from the National Library’s Curator – and in her case, auditor – Sir Venti Cromwell. Unfortunately, having known Kay since her childhood, Sir Venti is quite immune to even Kay’s most extreme methods of persuasion for additional monetary funding, leaving Kay with only the barest essentials. As such, Kay has to rely on other means of acquiring funds for her various non-archaeological “projects”. Her most “lucrative” venture so far is her participation in the so called “Retriever” business, where she helps clients recover lost or stolen possessions and valuables by using her various search spells and combat skills, especially when said possessions are in the ownership of very wealthy clients…
Shinji: *looks at signboard* We are the Get Backers! Asuka: I’m not doing this… Rey: …
- For transportation, Kay uses Hermes, a customized VR-100 type sports motorbike, heavily modified for all-terrain use. Manufactured by Midchilda’s Anaheim Heavy Industries, this particular vehicle was a testbed for various motorbike improvements, most notably the use of technomagic for its various features; including its ability to compact itself into a backpack sized storage form, similar to mage devices, and its overall impressive performance and handling. To the dismay of many a hardcore automotive enthusiast, Kay had bought the prototype using her contacts at Anaheim (at a discount), having need for it’s much lauded compaction feature. Because of the bike’s use of technomagic, Kay was easily able to customize the bike to her own specs, strengthening the frame to withstand the stresses associated with rugged cross-country and interdimensional travel. When in use, Shinji or Rey is installed into the bike to operate its systems.
- Ever since her visit eight years ago to the 97th Non-Administered World, codenamed “Earth”, Kay has held quite a fascination for “Anime” as she calls it (and a few others on Midchilda it seems). Her passion for “anime” is second only for her love of archaeology, and it seems to occupy much of her time when she’s not engrossed in a particular expedition or artifact. She claims that anime is also another culture to be explored, especially after seeing “The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture” (supposedly, this can be abbreviated to “Genshiken”). Her interest in this field has been quite enthusiastically shared by her AI children, especially Shinji.
Shinji: The earthling’s souls are dragged down by gravity! Asuka: Urusai… Rey:…
Will continue log in a few days, after Kay finishes her current assignment.

Biography of Kaylin “Kay” Mathis: Miscellaneous Part II
Spoiler for length:
- Despite her extensive travels to various worlds and countries, Kay is proficient in only 5 languages, her primary being Midian (Midchild English), since she primarily uses translation matrix magic from her device Khaydarin in most native interactions. (This type of magic acts similarly to a talking dictionary, limited by the languages it is programmed with). However, she can converse in 50 different languages, albeit on a limited level restricted to guide-book like questions and conversations.
Shinji: Konichiwa! Annyong ha shimnikka! Ni Hao! Asuka: Guten Tag! Hola! Kalimera! Rey: Namaste. Jambo. Al salaam a'alaykum. Kay: Erh… Hello?
- Due to her rogue status, Kay does not receive the same amount of respect from mainstream archaeological circles, and most of the senior Meisters in the Midchilda Geographic Society regard her unrestrained methods with criticism. Nonetheless, Kay has written several journals and papers that have been well received, and three have garnered critical acclaim. These acclaimed works all document the development of ancient Belkan and Midchildan techno-magic during various points in Midchild pre-history.
- Kay has a very passionate love of noodles; noodle dishes from various worlds are much sought after by Kay during her expeditions. Her favorite of them all comes from the 88th Non-Administrated World “Maelos”, where the local specialty is a flat-noodle dish with a 20-syllable name, shortened by many as “Lauakjon” (pronounced lake-wan). This is a milky yet spicy noodle dish similar to Laksa, from the 98th Non-Administered World “Earth”. Kay has taken a liking to this dish so much that she has tried multiple times to replicate the dish – to no avail, as the ingredients for Lauakjon is native to Maelos, and the central government has strict trading regulations regarding export of said ingredients.
Speaking of which…
- Kay’s cooking skills can be considered top-notch for someone whose whole life is spent in non-ideal locations, having refined her cooking using non-standard utensils and techniques on various worlds. She has been known to offer her services as a chef to various clients in order to supplement her income, and she has graced the tables of many 5-star establishments, including the famous Leron Grand Hotel in Karagura Capital. Her specialty are noodle dishes and exotic meat viands, and also exquisite chocolate desserts. She has yet shown no interest in working full time as a chef, despite the multitude of job offers.
Thankfully. Continuing…
- Although working a lot with religious artifacts, Kay is officially unaffiliated with any religion. While still holding a belief in a higher power, Kay does not affiliate herself with any religious organization or group spreading religious beliefs. This was brought about as a consequence of seeing secondhand the destructive effects of religious zeal on various ancient civilizations.
God Bless for that…
- Among her many mannerisms and habits, one of Kay’s strangest is her habit of balancing a pencil upright on her middle finger when she is in the middle of solving a problem. This apparently requires little conscious effort on her part.
- Kay’s interest in music include Bossa Nova, R&B and ballads, although she has taken a healthy interest to a genre called “J-pop”.
Rey: Haruka sora hibiiteru… Asuka: Inori wo kiseki ni…
*Shinji cries tears of manliness*
- To date, Kay has visited 290 different worlds and dimensions, often via less-than-credible methods and routes.
Which I cannot report unfortunately, or I’ll be busted as well…
Personal Log of TSAB 2nd Lieutenant Glock Heckler, 79th Army Battalion
Spoiler for length:
I am now in my 197th day of my present assignment of observation and security watch over civilian Archaeologist Kaylin Mathis. Ms. Mathis has been working here at the Moldiva badlands, on the examination of a weapons vault believed to be several hundred years old. She is currently in the process of cataloging any relevant artifacts and paraphernalia in the area. No significant events for notation, most of the items being harmless trinkets, physical blunt and bladed weapons, with little or no extra-dimensional qualities. Will hand more detailed relic and artifact reports for processing by LPRF 6 by the fortnight, and also to the 37th Criminal Investigation And Apprehension unit for further examination, as per new orders. In the meantime, I shall be continuing my current personal notations regarding Ms. Mathis’ biography.
Ah screw this. All I really wanted to say is: Kay is the most amazing person I’ve met in my entire life, awesomeness incarnate. I think I’m becoming her biggest fan… wait, I AM her biggest fan…

- : Eeh I’m not, I’m just finishing it up for you. You should thank me for my consideration! Glock: Writing in what you want me to feel for you is not what I consider “finishing up”! Kay: You’re no fun. Glock: I prefer it that way, now please hand me back my log. Kay: Alright… Shinji, Protect Save! Shinji: Hai! PROTECTO SAVE!!!!!
*log disappears* Glock: Sofia, get my log back! Device Sofia: Alright, Data Reco… Shinji: Ima da! Asuka: Achtung! LOGIC EXPLOSION!!!
*Logic Bomb > Sofia* Glock: Kay…. Kay: *sweatdrop* The logic bomb was not my idea... Rey: Data Recovery complete. Sofia system restoration complete, backup initiated. Glock: Rey, you truly are the best of your siblings. Rey: I’m only doing my best to quell any further ill-will, but thank you. Glock: That’s a good girl.
*virtual blush by Rey* Asuka: I’m telling you blue-girl, you’ll pay for this treachery… Shinji: Asuka, not now… Kay: No Logic Bombs Asuka, or I’ll have you do defrag duty! Asuka: Ja! Kay: Seriously stiff guy, your logs can be more insightful if you’re going to write anything about me. And some attitude. I should have a say if you’re gonna be my biographer. Glock: I’d rather not have any more love-love delusions on my logs, but I’ll think about it. Kay: Well, don’t take my “love-love” delusions seriously, it’s not like you’re my type. Glock: I love you. Kay: *Does triple spit-take* Omae wa baka… Glock: Now we’re even. Don’t take that too seriously. Now where was I… *goes back to log* Shinji: You alright Kay? You look flushed. Asuka: Not to mention owned. Kay: This sucks… Rey: *plays wav file “OWNING”*
Biography of Kaylin “Kay” Mathis: Artificial Intelligence Part I
Spoiler for length:
One of Kay’s most significant non-archaeological field accomplishments was the creation of her three Artificial Intelligence programs, the K.A.I. series. These sentient programs were single-handedly created by Kay six years ago to serve as field companions, each adept at their own individual skills necessary for her work. The AI’s basic program subroutines are based off data from the Reinforce Zwei Project undertaken by TSAB engineers 8 years ago, which Kaylin somehow managed to uncover and…
Can you please stop looking over my shoulder? Thank you.
…retrieve. This information was used in the development of advanced personality, learning and adaption subroutines that ensure that AI’s develop with experiences they undergo over time, as self-learning entities. Also, they are programmed with universal program drivers, meaning they are not restricted to a single device, but can be uploaded unto different devices for them to use, and due to their enhanced compression abilities can be uploaded unto even low-end devices that can handle basic AI. They can also remotely interface with other devices through a variety of means, from simple radio to techno-telepathic link. And finally, all of the AI’s are able to autonomously cast their own spells using Kay’s Linker Core as their energy source. Unlike most AI’s, the three have their own humanoid visual avatars to visually distinguish them from each other when interacting with Kay or each other on data monitor displays. These avatars can also be projected into space via holographic magics, although they have yet to be equipped with tactile interaction abilities, i.e. the ability to manipulate physical objects via touch (although the AI’s can manipulate objects using magic), and tactile, olfactory and taste senses. Kay has expressed the hope that with more time and resources, that the KAI series can be given solid matrix projection bodies, similar to the one used by Master Sergeant Reinforce Zwei of LPRF 6, which’ll allow their avatars to interact with the physical world to better assist Kay in her field work, and also to give them more horizons on which to expand and develop their personalities.
The three AI’s are named Rey, Shinji and Asuka, as per Kay’s preference. (It is noted that she lifted these names from characters from another one of her favorite anime titles, Neon Genesis Evangelion.) Like most AI, Kay used blank personality templates as a starting base for all three AI. Despite this, the AI’s have developed completely divergent personalities, which may have been caused by the pre-programmed specialization of their roles. (Although suspicions point to Kay having had a slight hand in molding them to who they are today).
KAI-00 “Rey” – Rey is the first of the AI’s to be created, and thus is the oldest of the AI siblings. Residing inside the storage device Khaydarin, her specialty is in assisting Kay in artifact research, using her extensive knowledge of archaeological materials and information she learns from various sources to aid Kaylin in the examination and analysis of paraphernalia; and her second role is in the cleaning and restoration of relics to their proper form, using her database to calculate the best possible methods and techniques of restoring a particular item. She can also partake in restoration jobs herself by using various small-scale manipulation magic.
Her avatar is that of a 15 year old Caucasian girl, with long, shoulder-length straight blue hair and red eyes. Her avatar is often seen wearing a white lab coat with blue trim. Strangely enough, Rey has recently added a pair of thin-framed eyeglasses to her avatar’s look, despite the enhanced vision granted her by Khaydarin’s systems. She also talks in a somewhat hushed, yet firm voice.
Personality-wise, Rey is mostly the shy, quiet girl who prefers her own company over socialization, although with the birth of Shinji and Asuka, Rey has been playing the role of the strong yet silent eldest sister. Her calm, unassuming nature makes her the most objective of the three siblings, always assessing the situation and never performing an action without thinking it through, and the least likely to have her temper provoked. She is also the least likely to socialize with strangers, although she can get along with work-related matters. As the most rational of the siblings she is also the problem solver of the group, to the point that Kay relies on her for her problem-solving skill in various matters. Whether due to her programmed specialty, or her own innate preference, Rey has inherited Kay’s passion for archaeology and anthropology, and can be found categorizing and analyzing new artifact data in her spare time, even without Kay’s orders.
That doesn’t mean she is void of any hobbies. She is known to join in on making fun of Kay in her own concise and silent manner, and she is also the avid video game player, playing mostly real-time strategy games. Her favorite game is an Earth-made online game called DoTA Allstars, and she goes by the handle “Frozen Ministra”, playing the character “Rylai Crestfall, the Crystal Maiden”. (She manages to connect via Earth-based servers through the TSAB Psycommu Network, with Shinji’s assistance). It is during gameplay sessions that an unusual transformation takes place, with Rey’s demeanor changing from cool, calm and collected to cool, yet passionate and fiery, often being extremely loud and vocal during gameplay sessions, but without losing her judgement. She is also known to neuter her AI multitasking skills during gameplay in order to reduce the odds of being taken as a cheater when playing against human players– nonetheless Rey still manages to win most of her matches using various strategies and cunning. Her video game involvement goes so far as her using lexicons, terminologies and random sound files from various games in normal situations (her oft-used sound being “Owning” from DoTA Allstars).
Next part will be concerning the two other members of the KAI series.
Log shut down.
I think it’s time to challenge Frozen Ministra and get her back for that one time… Sofia, set up game for me please.
Yes boss.
Time to meet your maker…
Biography of Kaylin “Kay” Mathis: Artificial Intelligence Part II
Spoiler for length:
*resume Log*
KAI-01: “Shinji” – Second of the KAI series born only 3 months after Rey, Shinji is Kaylin’s network operator AI. He is responsible for searching, gathering, organizing and archiving data and information, using his advanced network access protocols and subroutines to quickly search for any information on Midchilda World Net. He is also responsible for advanced data extraction, programming and manipulation of data program-based technological artifacts, including energy-based crystalline artifacts and ancient computers. His search skills are so efficient that he can find any query on a database network, like Midchilda’s WorldNet in less than a millisecond, although as of current, the only system that gives Shinji’s skills a challenge is the TSAB’s Infinite Library. Shinji is also a skilled data hacker, able to bypass or defeat some of the toughest firewalls mounted by even the most skilled programmers.
Shinji’s avatar takes on the appearance of a Caucasian adolescent male of 16, with short, jet black clean-cut hair and black eyes; His avatar is often seen wearing an unbuttoned long sleeved-polo shirt over orange undershirt, and khaki slacks.
Of the siblings, Shinji is the most playful one, always looking for ways to joke around, and always looking to get Asuka’s attention (violently) through various means, from sloppily placed punchlines to just plain acting randomly. His antics will most often succeed in irritating Asuka enough to warrant a bloody retaliation (for a program), and more often than not Shinji ends up on Kay’s BIOS in need of serious repair. Nonetheless, Shinji does this in the nature of good fun, and Asuka and Rey silently appreciate his actions, though both would rather not say it (The former due to her innate stubbornness, and the latter “finds it unnecessary”).
He is also the selfless program, willing to help out others to the limit of his program abilities at the expense of his own time and energy, a lesson Kay had taught the young program, although Shinji sticks to this belief with absolute conviction. He has made many human friends this way, many of whom he met during his online activities, and holds him in high regard for his deeds, although most of them have yet to know he is not human. Incredulously enough, he is the only one of the AI siblings with a significant other, a 17 year-old Earth girl named Matsuri Miyama, who makes frequent contact with the young AI, whom she assumes is human, although details of their meeting remain unclear at current. Both maintain a steady very long-distance relationship, and both plan on meeting each other someday, although Shinji will have to overcome the difficult obstacle of him being a non-corporeal AI program.
I admit… there’s something really wrong when a 6-year old AI manages to succeed where a 24-year old human has failed… *sigh* Moving on…
As with Rey, Shinji shares one of Kay’s passions, in his case her love for “Anime”. He is quite the active fan, visiting numerous online sites to participate in discussion regarding the subject in his spare time, and when not seen engaged in viewing various titles from the genre, he can be seen in heavy discussion with Kay over various anime related matters. Shinji is especially fond of a sub-genre called “Mecha”, which typically feature giant humanoid machines as part of the story. His obsession with anime is such that at times he is known to change his avatar into one of the numerous machines in his favorite titles, and this habit extends to emulating the attire of various characters (this is supposedly known as “cosplay”, short for costume play”). Also, he is known to quote lines from various character dialogues, often using voice-changing subroutines to perfectly emulate the quote.

I'll try to actually make a character now:
Spoiler for length:
Temp Name:Libra Gender: Female Age: 16 Hair Colour: Dark blue Eye Colour: Yellow
History:
The girl was adopted at a very young age by a rich family, and thus has little knowledge of her real parents. She lived happily, but as often felt lonely as her parents were often very busy and having no siblings. She got along with friends at school, but had no direction in life.
One day, she found out that her real mother used to be in the TSAB. She went to research the matter and discovered that she died on duty. The girl also found out about her mother's husband, and likely her own real father, but found little more than a name, no matter how much she looked.
Faced with a new purpose, she decided to join the TSAB to see if she could get some more information from the inside. Once in, she displayed will power that surprised even her close friends and ranked high during her training. She joined a small aerial search unit and got along well with the group.
Despite all of this, she got little closer to learning more about her parents. She asked around, but very few people remembered much about her mother, or anything at all about her father. It had seemed that her mother was a solitary person much unlike the daughter.
Her frustration increased until a particular incident occured with the search unit. Afterwards the members began to leave and the unit was eventually disbanded. She started questioning why she was still a part of TSAB, but resolved to do her best when she coincidentally found a familiar name within the bureau.
About:
The girl is very friendly and gets along well with others. Though normally social, she has bouts of times where she'd rather be alone. One of her greatest strengths is in multi-tasking. She can split her attention between multiple things very efficeintly and this proved to be a big asset for her work in the TSAB.
She has a female bird-type familiar, though she keeps quiet about the particulars of its origin, as does the familiar itself. The familiar is child-like in her human form appearence and appears as a small blue bird otherwise. In contrast with its master, it's rather shy and doesn't talk much. When it does talk, however, a beautiful voice could be heard. Apperently, it is very good at singing, but only its master has ever heard it sing.
For a device, she uses an original device called the Lunar System, which she simply calls "Luna" for short. Typical of system device, it was very expensive to make and difficult to maintain. However, she has learned how to maintain it and does it well. The device itself is a system of three devices, two armed and one storage, with a single AI among all three.
The first of the three is a ball-shaped armed device. It itself can be hit onto target in order to inflict damage, it can also be used to cast spells remotely from the user. The second is a baton-shaped armed device which main purpose is a close-range self-defense weapon. It is also used to hit the ball for added power and/or speed. The final is a ring-shaped storage device which its owner wears on her wrist. This is usually used for her primary spell-casting, including a spell which allows it to "leash" onto the ball, to control its movement more directly. It also has some remote casting capabilities, although more limited than the ball. Normally, each device in the system has its own name, but since the girl only refers to them all collectively as Luna, or occasionary, Lunar System, it is unknown if any of the individual devices has names.
In combat, the girl, along with her familiar and system device attacks in coordination. The girl herself, her familiar, and the ball part of Luna are rarely in a single place, often apart in the battlefield. However, they attack together. Specializing in light beam attacks, she sends out beams often from nearly every direction. This can often confuse the opponent, often making cause for their defeat. In a team situation, she is even more powerful, able to attack many different targets at once from unexpected directions. She also uses the ball itself as a weapon often, either hitting it into her target with the baton, or swinging it into the target with the leash. Combining this with remote casting, it creates situations that many mages are unprepared for. Also, she sometimes casts a spell together with her familiar to do a stronger attack when needed.
Her fighting style is rather unique within the TSAB and highlights the unique strengths of system devices. The fighting style itself has been called "Family" by her colleagues, although who's which member of the "family" is disputed.
Strange, it's not letting me capitalize the 'a' in "about".

@LoweGear: Woo, thanks for consolidating Kay's backstory and stats. For some reason it was taking me something like one out of three tries to find it in this thread.
@Meophist: Not decided on a name yet? I'm having a bit of trouble visualizing the Lunar System, but I suppose I just need to sleep on it for a bit or something.

Well, I see it as a healthy part of fandom. We're fans enough of the series to want to create characters for its setting; it's a fan-related activity. It's what fans do.
And it's a lot of fun, honestly speaking. Much better than being bored or burned out.

A name or another such moniker would probably be helpful. A nickname, perhaps, or a title. Otherwise, we have to refer to her as "Meophist's character" (or, if you make more, "Meophist's first female character in the thread on page 11").
Even calling her Nameless would be giving her a name, or at least a nickname. Also, it's almost essential if you want to actually write something with her in it; I've tried writing a story without naming the main character, and I found that significant characters need to be referred to by something, even if it's just a rank or title. Generic nouns tend to be too vague.

Well, like I said, she doesn't need to have an actual name (that is revealed to the reader) immediately. A relatively unique identifier is all that is needed, for immense convenience.
Heck, you can call her Yellow-Eyes if you want.

Thanks, but may I ask what part? I actually tried to make her a little ordinary, so perhaps I failed. Not really a bad thing though.
