i was said to ask here: in the 5th novel there are new main characters (without chitanda and co) or are them just supporter characters?

winhlp32 2012-05-30 18:19

Here's a better image:

I like that the animator drew that Eru (and likely Houtarou) are now in year 2.

I just realized kyoani put the novel chapters not in order. For example we have a few stories from "Little Bird can remember" which is volume 4 was pushed into episode 4 and 5. I think it's nice, because volume 4-5 is when Hotarou and Chitanda's interaction/relationship is developed.

Vito 2012-07-02 02:43

Does Irisu have any more appearances in the book? or is what we got in the anime all of it?

Fallen3dge 2012-07-02 18:41

So what are the interactions between chitanda and houtarou in the later vols?

ultimatemegax 2012-07-13 09:42

Next month's Wildness Era magazine will publish the latest short story in the Kotenbu series! The title is Not Reflecting in the Mirror.

Summary:
Quote:

This story takes place in the third year of middle school for Houtarou, Satoshi, and Mayaka while the three complete their graduation project. Their project is to decorate the frame of a giant mirror with engravings. Each person is responsible for a different part of the frame. While everyone is finishing their part, Houtarou presents a very "Oreki" piece with the phrase "Cut Corners" engraved. This is sure to anger past graduates of the school...

Was Houtarou the one to engrave "Cut Corners?" Should Mayaka press the issue? Let's flip back the pages of time!

So I heard a disturbing rumor that maybe someone who has read can answer. Chitanda has another love interest other than Oreki. I don't like to bring up this word but it seems he gets NTR'd.:(

blakstealth 2012-07-24 12:47

Yeah, I'm kinda curious about that too. What's up with that?

edit: oh hey, Mura. lol

I read somewhere that it's actually Oreki who dates another girl that is introduced later in the novels, but I don't know if the person who said that was lying or not.

Oh hey, ya found me.:heh:

@javachip: If its Oreki than that makes me even sadder, well we just need confirmation on this.

blakstealth 2012-07-24 18:39

Well, turns out those rumors are fake. But apparently,

Spoiler:

mixordia 2012-07-24 20:33

Spoiler for about Oreki & Chitanda:

Please, correct me if I'm wrong... and if anyone knows more about it post here.

ilovejavachip 2012-07-25 04:55

Hm if that's true, I wonder how Chitanda would react..

Don't you mean... "I'm curious"?
:D

Is there a (non-spoiling) synopsis of volume 5? Being a running myself, I'm kinda curious.

Interesting choice of the distance (almost half-marathon), IMO. Last time I see an animated running event was K-On!! 5k, and I think it's kinda too short to have a story. Well, that was K-On and it worked. 20km is not a distance I'd make a general high school student run. That's is why I think it's a good choice though. It should be a struggle to even someone who is relatively good at sport but not a distance runner. Needless to say, with the title "Approximated Distance of the Two," it certainly make me interest.

can anyone pls tell me - how faithfull is the anime adaptation to the novel? ...except for the order of events.

ultimatemegax 2012-07-28 11:28

Volume 9 of the BD/DVD series will come with a short story published in the 2008/06/12 edition of Wildness Era entitled Renpou wa Harete iru ka (Do the Mountains have clear weather?). This story has not been published in a novel, so this BD/DVD release is the first time it's been printed outside of said magazine.

1. some misc little things cut for anime length.
( astronomy's cooking taste like "hell". e.g.)

2. things were modify so the story takes place in current time (2012) instead of novel time (2000),
(appearance of Iphone, etc.)

3. things were modify so to avoid copy right.
(manga club senpai's cosplay, also Miyaka's mirror replace what is originally in the novel.)

4. short stories from book 4 were moved up to fill in between book 1 and 2 of anime portion,

5. some anime original special touches were added.
(Houtaro getting embarrassed got caught looking at Eru's cos photos, the cooking competition's on air commentary which is simply... "awesome".)

but in general, the whole anime is PAINSTAKINGLY accurate in follow the general story outline, even the 11.5 is an author original story.

expect the rest of book 4 stories will finish the anime portion, I don't see the anime will get to book 5, which like the festival, is a long story. may be in season 3? but only if the author wrote more new materials,
