Given that they had sex before they got married in-game? No.

True, when did they get married, I know it was shortly implied after that, but its been a while since I've watched that season?

omimon 2014-09-04 22:46

It really makes you wonder why they even bought two beds.

Rising Dragon 2014-09-04 22:56

So they can alternate on which bed to use each night, of course!

...

In all likelihood, they came with the house.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did it everywhere except for the beds.

True newlyweds spare no part of the house. ¬.¬

Ah, this discussion has gone to those places. ;)

As an aside, there are some articles out there about couples sleeping better (in the strict sense of actually sleeping) when they're in separate beds, vs. one bed where one of them has incredibly cold feet or tends to spread out all over the mattress or has some other incompatible personal habit.

This of course has little to no bearing on a virtual environment where those little details... actually, I wonder how precise the NerveGear could be about detecting variations in body temperature such that if you touched another player they'd feel warmer or colder than you.

Rising Dragon 2014-09-05 00:11

Probably fairly realistic. Amuspheres don't have the same level of immersion as NerveGears do as part of the preventive measures on them, right? Between that and Kayaba striving to make a world first, game second, that kind of level of realism wouldn't be terribly surprising.

This thread was dead quiet before this topic got raised.

Goes to show we all like to talk about the sex life of characters. Probably because it's so rare that we have this chance. I mean how many shows out there have characters getting married as early as episode 10 out of 25?

In one of the side-stories, "The Day Before", they get married right before they buy the log house. (or was it right after? Either way, they get married right outside that house)

There was never a ceremony or anything right? They just went into the menu and got married with a click of a button?

Sex, religion and politics are the only three topics I know that get people talking more than they normal would and even get lurkers into the conversion.

I agree the subject rarely sees much attention outside of comic relief. The only series that was so blatant about it was Gundam SEED with Kira and Flay, I'm sure there were more I'm just drawing a blank. It is a rarity for sure though

It seems to exist given Sugou's threats, but it's unlikely to be enabled by the current management given that minors play ALO.

A better question would be if he actually cockblocked himself that night. I mean Asuna was throwing herself at him so I would be pretty mad if they didn't do it since that's just not cool.

He did not cockblock himself that night. The anime simply censored things a bit by having Kirito outside the covers instead of snuggling under them with Asuna.

Rising Dragon 2014-09-06 21:50

Plus, y'know, Asuna was pretty obviously naked underneath the sheets.

omimon 2014-09-06 23:57

I actually read 16.5-16.85 during the last couple of days and holy shit that stuff was saucy. You can imagine why Kirito was so desperate to save Asuna in ALO. He was desperate for that poontan after two months.

dotdotslash 2014-09-07 08:29

I have this sneaking suspicion that somehow the new management of ALO "forgot" to turn the sex feature off.

After people dropped a bunch of hints I looked up chapter 16.5, and at least in the english translation I found, I have to say the writing was pretty embarrassingly bad.

I seem to recall that in the LN kissing is described as being pretty much one pre-programmed action, which does kind of beg the question of how much detail was put into the rest of the more advanced options.

Writing? That's like saying you watch the entirety of a porn movie and caring what the story is about.

Gravitas Free Zone 2014-09-07 12:33

But even the porn part is pretty bad. This is where, at least as it is translated, the infamous "glopping" comes from, after all.

omimon 2014-09-08 06:32

So I've been doing some research and it seems people mostly think really less of 16.5. They find it comical and just plain bad. Am I the only one who thinks the chapter was good and in-character? I mean we are talking about two virgins who until were middle schoolers when the game started and have been in mortal danger ever since. Of course they are gonna be awkward in bed and say weird shit. Honestly kirito's description is exactly how i imagine a 16 year old describe would his first time.
