Hmm, in the Kanon game OP/ED single; just out of curiosity, who sang this song?

風の辿り着く場所 (instrumental) ~ Last regrets -男性 vocal ver.-

Would he happen to be a seiyuu or perhaps, the composer himself?

A remix. By toning down down the female vocal to a point where it sounds male.

Lots of popular anime songs have been given the same treatment including Hare Bare Yukai.

OH.. Wow. No wonder it sounded so weird heh. Thanks! :)

Kanon OP & ED Lyrics

I had a *fun* time translating the lyrics because the OP song was almost too slow to listen to, and the lyricist of the ED song seems to had decided to toss the lines into a blender before putting them into stanzas. ...And whose idea was it to stick completely incomprehensible rap into the ED song? ?_?
Spoiler for Full OP Lyrics, includes translation and romaji:

Ayana is an singer who is part of I've Sound, in which LIA (who sung the songs for AIR) and KOTOKO also belong.

I think "The Place where the Wind Arrives at" is a really catchy yet melancholy song.
Although I'm not really a fan of the Engrish rap part it's tolerable.

Maybe it's just me but the last line of that rap always sounds to me like he's saying "get your head snapped" pretty blunt words there.

DragoonKain3 2006-10-25 05:03

Static-subs/Eclipse had the english rap part of the ED karaoked in the prelude

Spoiler:

I usually can't stand rap, but I find it was really done well in the ED, especially the transition to the chorus. I'm no audio geek though...

So, when's the soundtrack hit? I've been hearing that they're using a lot of game music, but that means very little to me since I don't know any of the music from the game.

I'm just generally fuzzy on the musical details at this point. If someone would humor me for one post, I'd appreciate it.

It doesn't :p The Air anime never got an OST because it used the game's music and I can't see Kanon being any different. If you want the OST you'll have to buy the game's, which came out a few years ago. The game OST also includes the full versions of the OP and ED songs.

Or did I misunderstand you?

nani 2006-10-25 10:04

In addition to the Game OST, some of the piano pieces come from the Re-feel rearrange album.

By the way, a new Duet version of Last Regret by Lia and Ayana will be out next week.

So then they used nothing but game music. Well, at least I don't have to wait for the OST :D

You got me. Thanks.

It looks like the OP/ED single shall be released. Its true the only place you can find them is on the Kanon original soundtrack.. this is a good idea to new fans of the series.

The release date is December 28th.

Just curious where you saw that... I haven't seen it pop up in any of my typical mailers from japan yet... but such is pretty surprising, I wonder what else they are going to put on them.. karaoke perhaps?

If you want to listen to the full length op, it's up on youtube. Of course I always suggest supporting the company :)

Here is one source.

The music wasn't too bad. After spending a week on the game, I have the say it's one of the best music to come out of a bishoujo game. At first I thought Kyo-Ani would just re-use the game's OP/ED, but it turns out they simply used the whole soundtrack, yet it sounded just fine.

Kyo-Ani isn't stupid. They know as with most video game music, they tend to loop, so they only play it once and managed to time the scene long enough so the song ends around the time the scene ends. Take episode 6 for example, in the flashback scene with Yuuichi and Ayu at the beginning, the piano song "Fuyu no Hanabi" fitted just well, and it didn't sounded awkward at all. Everytime a girl appears, her theme plays unintrusively in the background.

Saves Kyo-Ani from having to hire a composer, hence more budget into the animation quality while letting old-timer Kanon gamers indulge in nostalgia.

I shall try to get my hands on the game's soundtrack.

Even if they did plan to change the musical score, you just know they'd get Shinji Orito to do the work. <3

Out of the 19 CDs they have released, I own 15 of them. :heh:

Now, regarding to the lastest CD from Key Sounds Label:
http://61.199.33.219/games/info/musi...l/lastregrets/

Yes, it's the anime version of Kanon's OP/ED soundtrack.
Technically, the full versions are the same as the ones included in the game's original soundtrack, so it's nothing really new. Also included is the TV sized version of the OP/ED, as well as a "2006 memorial mix" (completely rerecorded song), which will probably be the main selling point.

Revolution Boi 2006-12-01 04:01

Hmm... I was sent this from another source....

Last Regrets (X-mas Dance Mix)

It was an short recording so I decided to add in a few beats and made it longer for my pleasure. Everyone else can enjoy too :)
