Actually, if the dvds do not rank it means that it sold below the lowest selling title of that week, which would be 1,057. Selling below 1k volumes for the first week pretty much means that the dvd side bombed. Following weeks tend to sell lesser than the first week so they aren't going to make much difference to the fact that Kamisama Dolls doesn't have good sales. Not only that, this is the first volume we're talking about. Subsequent volume's first week sales will be lower and lower.

So if there's ever a sequel for this, sales will definitely not be the reason for it. =(

Know what would be interesting? If crunchroll and showtime release the numbers of viewers that have stream the show.

justsomeguy 2011-09-30 07:41

Those sales number are pretty bad, which is odd since this show was one of the best this season. Is there any info on what the Japanese disliked about it?

Also on the page it says "KamiDolls v1 does 1,437 BDs, DVDs do not rank."
So you need to find out the number of dvds sold as well to find out if the company made a good amount of profit.

Please - this dude doesn't want logic or facts. He knows everything.

Actually, many of Japanese liked Kamisama dolls, comics sold over 1 million.
But did not buy discs, cuz they saved money for autumn and winter.

So you're saying it's just a matter of the economy, or they're saving up for something else (what)?

Nice to see the soundtrack will include the Kakashi sounds.

Wasn't a fan of the final arc. Really just disjointed and the preview at the end made things worse.

Arc... I don't really notice any sort of "arc" arrangement here. Just one big ball of problems all interconnected.

And let's see. Open ended ending... with somewhat disappointing sales numbers. Not too good of a chance for a story closing second season on this one...

I pretty much defined the final arc as to when Mahiru showed up.

Sounds like Ishikawa Chiaki did most (if not all) of the Kakashi sounds. Always nice to have the theme artist (someone who is not a voice actor) contribute to the actual episodes themselves.

aohige 2011-10-02 23:46

What, you guys wanted anime original closure or something?

Just like HOTD, Black Lagoon, and many other ongoing manga based anime, it just simply adapted the source faithfully and didn't give it a closure.
While that may annoy anime-only viewers, at least it avoids commonly seen catastrophes. :heh:

justsomeguy 2011-10-06 22:32

Finally got to watch the final episode, after being held up by work all week. Yeah, just as I expected, I'm giving this show a 9/10.

Good characters all messed up by the past and their responsibilities, good reaction faces especially from Utao, good interactions among the characters, good mix of humor within a serious plot, etc.

The only negative thing about this show is that it desperately needs a second season to finish the story, but the undeserved poor sales may prevent that. Damn the poor tastes of the Japanese otaku!

blitz1/2 2011-10-08 12:26

lol, Utao date, but for some reason, why does she look so tall when she comes out of the change rooms?

Soliloquy 2011-10-19 04:27

This just in some bad news regarding Kamisama Dolls... considering this was my first choice in summer season. Hell of a shame considering the circumstance.

Crap. Hopefully sales might pick up, but on the whole this is bad news.
Just goes to show they should have had less action and more Utao doing cute things and Hibino getting her tits out - and yes, I am being sarcastic...

Sides 2011-10-19 05:57

No, I want a sequel. Take my money.

EroKing 2011-10-19 06:15

Undecided doesn't mean dropped. Just give them some time and meanwhile enjoy other series :p

Well - added to my twitter follow list just in case there's news... Various "problems" no doubt means the DVD/BD sales just aren't where they need to be.
