Also is Jun Maeda the one who wrote Sola or the one that writes all the Hamlet style endings? If he's the Hamlet guy I'm going to call the ending, every girl ultimately ends up in some battle they can't win and dies. The End. In fact to paraphrase the Angry Video Game Nerd, here is the ending screen that will summarize the heroes final status at the end of the game: Riki's Girlfriends Are Dead. Riki's Family Is Dead. Riki's Pets Are Being Skinned Alive Riki's Mother is Ashamed of him. Riki Sucks At Life. The Whole World Hates Riki. Riki's Going To Hell Riki Has To Get Over It. GAME OVER! Happy End! Key Style! You Can Cry Now..... |
@Tangowr: Fate/stay night doesn't have a "battle system", it's all novel text. And you seem to be presumptuously making assumptions there... o_O
@Kaoshin_sama: Jun Maeda is actually not responsible for sola, but it's actually someone else who was a sub-scenario writer for Kanon. And I really can't see how you could be comparing this to Fate exactly. |
Well the girls here seem to have stats and room to equip accessories so either there's a battle component or you just equip them and it plays out the battle for you. Either way it's something new and different from Key. Wonder if you can fight your way out of everyone dying. Depending on how the battle system works (if it exists) there's a good chance I might actually play a game from Key :twitch::twitch::twitch:. Also, seriously Key's artwork just got kicked up like 10 notches with this game. What's with the sudden urge to try something different than a sad girls crying in something game?

That's... certainly amusing to see.
Yeah, definitely reminds me of Fate/stay night's status screens. Actually, when I first saw that pic, I immediately thought of SRPGs like Utawererumono and Super Robot Wars. I think the DL was 190 mbs, but the OP video took most of the space, being 130 mbs... that must be one HQ video. And wow... Kud really reminds me of Ilya-chan. Those barely visible fang teeth and small bat-shaped hair ornament is cute. :D |
that's the optional minigame battle component. if you want to do well in it and improve character stats, you have to go through separate missions and train your character.
if you lose, you're given a really humiliating title. http://key.visualarts.gr.jp/newsoft/index.htm character profiles (wikipedia copypaste) Riki Naoe (直枝理樹, Naoe Riki?) So what are the point of the stats then if its just based on making a choice?
|
it's a mini rpg but you raise stats outside of the mini game.

Jun Maeda does seem to be the everybody dies to illict tears from the audience guy. There's always a chance Key might try something different this time though. I mean there's only so many times the same style of story can make you cry before you start to expect it and its impact is dulled right? Jun Maeda honestly reminds me a lot of Yoshiyuki Tomino when he was in his depression and would wipe out the entire cast of a series or at best make the ending BITTERsweet. I wonder if Jun Maeda suffers from depression too.

Well, I won't give a damn about this if this game doesn't work under WINE on my Linux-only box. I ain't gonna install Windows again just for a damn game. But for the moment, let me cross my fingers. |

Looking forward to rin's scenario :heh: |

And yes there are options, but if you get a Bad End they lead you to a scene with Taiga and Ilya, and that has nothing to do with the "battle mode" at all after that, if there even is one to begin with. |
So your only punishment for losing a battle is a humiliating title then? So it uses the stats, but its theres no Attack, Defend, Item commands it's just automatically detirmined based off the mini game?
If someone could somehow make a video of a battle in progress it would probably put the confusion to rest regarding whether it resembles something from Fate/Stay Night and how it functions. |

And I said it's like Fate's battle system, not a copy, which is a AVG choose path then either end or more path, because it seems the result is pretty much determined in the battle, and seems like I'm not the only one that thinks that. So I don't know why you sound so angry about it, it's my and some other opinion that it's a AVG style battle system like Fate: Stay Night. http://img472.imageshack.us/img472/5...3490639uj9.jpg |

From what I can tell people probably mean is that its tacked on and the stats are just for show (as in your picture the guy has higher stats yet she is creaming him) and the choice you made before the battle begins determines the outcome. Though even then I'm still confused, which is why I wish there was a video of it. The thing is a form of gameplay that is even mildly above that of a visual novel mouse clicker is the deciding factor in whether I choose to play a game that looks intriguing or what for something else. After all the Eroge market is rife with title's and I can't play all of them. |

It feels tacked on because... it is! It's not the complete battle system, nor does it act like one. My guess is it's just there to show you how it's going to work. The in game status menu has attributes for each character, so it's probable that the real product will have some sort of system other than the ADV part. An aside, and I'm sure others have brought this up before, but if gameplay is such a factor, why play these types of games? The eroge market may be saturated, but selecting a game by virtue of its PSX-level gameplay isn't the best of qualifiers... |
Quote:

according to magazines, there's supposed to be over 100 different items randomly picked for the battles.
so there's a non-adv system. |

Ah yes, I went and re-read the first post. It's designated for all ages. I saw zalas reply and I guess I got excited...

Actually it is an eroge.
It's called: "eroge(not 18-kin)" :heh: |

Do we have any information on the VAs? The art is looking different than the usual Key art which in this case is a great thing in my opinion

Komari Kamikita: Natsumi Yanase (CV) Rin Natsume: Tomoe Tamiya (CV) Haruka Saigusa: Keiko Suzuki (CV) Kudryavka Noumi: Akemi Kaneko (CV) Yuiko Kurugaya: Ryōko Tanaka (CV) Mio Nishizono: Yumi Arai (CV) Kyousuke Natsume: Hikaru Midorikawa (CV) Masato Inohara: Nobutoshi Canna (CV) Kengo Miyazawa: Yūsei Oda (CV) Like slasher movies I want to start calling the deaths, but I'll leave that for tomorrow. Yes though the art is substantially better than any previous Key game. No Ayu or Nayuki clones and yet it still has its own unique style. The eyes especially with their glass marbly look with triple rings that change shade towards the center remind me of one of Sunrises old styles from the 80's with an updated look. Everyone kind of dresses in Gothic Lolita though on the main page except for the main girl Komari, which is a bit boring. Before I go, after reading a bit on the story concept, it seems set up for the usual Key tragedy (Keywords being "Seems Set Up"). The Little Buster's have allowed the main character to find enjoyment in life after a tragic event in its past. I'm going to bet the plot has something to do with the Little Busters bond being shattered by some series of events, or something. Plus the main girl looks like the obvious choice for someone to bring warmth into the main characters life only to get slammed by a semi in a traffic accident and have him break down again. Key, like Yoshiyuki Tomino has built a reputation for it's way of dealing with its characters. They like them to suffer in order to grow. Will Little Busters be Key's Turn-A Gundam style turn around in character development methods. That's up to Jun Maeda. Personally I think Key is long overdue for a game where the characters face adversity, we feel for them, we cry with them, they grow from it and overcome it and we feel joy. A death or two is cool, but if so no more Car Accidents, "Sickness", She was really an animal stuff. 8 years later I think Key needs to redefine its own image like it redefined the image of the genre back in 1999. That's just my opinion though, I'm sure a lot of people will be content with a sob story and good CG. That's okay too. |

Remember, learning is not always books and long, boring study hours. If only more educational institutions would realize this. :p |
Looks like an interesting game from Key. Assuming that the final product has the usual high quality, I'll be waiting for them to announce the anime series (you know it's inevitable).

Clannad has a new level story, things you are talking about seem to be based only from Kanon >.> As for graphics it has evolved since 1998 ( counting ONE) so obviously the graphics will be better. Now designs are different because Na-Ga has had part in designs, which unlike Kanon, Clannad and AIR Itaru did them. This game is going to be obviously different in many aspects as it it is All Age but it seems like there are ecchi scenes to replace that content. Quote:
And then there is Tomoyo After before Little Busters if any thing else. |
