Nisekoi (Komi Naoshi - Double Arts)
New series starting in JUMP Issue #48.
http://i.imgur.com/wMKcC.jpg A Romantic Comedy from Komi Naoshi the mangaka of Double Arts. There is a one shot for this already translated, from what I've read the serialized manga has quite a few changes from the one shot though. So maybe it's best to wait until you've read the proper manga before the one shot so your expectations aren't changed.... |
Just checked out the raw...
Spoiler:
|
Scanlation is out.
The debut chapter isn't particularly outstanding 'per say', but there's really only so much one can do with this kind of set-up. I'm happy about the characters and the dynamics of the relationship thus far, at least. It's very expressive, without feeling too subdued or being too unrealistic. But man... what a tweest... Quote:

^Ah, looks like...
Spoiler:

oneshot is better as of now.
|
I confirm : the thing she is NOT the one is good.
|
I liked chapter 1 more than the one shot. I didn't see the twists coming.
|
Generic romcom comic is generic. Seriously, they could've tried to do something, anything new but didn't.
|
I liked the oneshot, hopefully this doesn't get cancelled.
|
Can anyone say, Slap Slap Kiss? :heh:

The girl from the one shot was soo much better than the ones in the serialization (a forced to become perfectionist due to a romantic deception); besides that the serialization is pretty much better in every aspect, it flows better, has a more complete premise with a love triangle and is less cheezy where it needs to be less cheezy.
Not incredibly original nor anything, but it has the chance of flowing naturally into a fun yet not new story. |

I never liked that tweest, so I'll go with the assumption that she is not The One until hinted otherwise later on. Quote:
Unless you're referring to something else in particular. |
Quote:
Also, she was cuter :heh: The one from the serialization seems to be a simple run out the mill kind hearted extremist tsundere, the other one is the usual soft spoken inchou. |
Uh... kinda feels disappointing. I (still) don't like gorilla girl; though she's a tad better in this version. I actually liked how the focused on the families more then the classmates in the oneshot, felt like this was a step back. Well maybe it gets better later on since the setting is pretty good and easy comedy territory.

There's going to be some stiff competition for the rom-coms in WSJ to not get cut, especially since it isn't kind to this genre.
Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa Magico Nisekoi It's unfortunate but I expect at least one of those will be cancelled. |
I just can't see this running for a long time. Double Arts had it's own world that could be explored, a story that could've reached a large scale. Not to mention a nice dynamic between the two leads.
This? This has nothing. It's your run-of-the-mill shounen romcom. It doesn't even have a particular twist that makes it original. It really feels stitched-together out of several cliches. I hate to be always pessimistic like this but I honestly can't see anything beyond the usual shounen stuff: misunderstandings, lack of depth, no progress and a lot of humor that is, probably, not of the good kind. I can already see the cancellation. |
@jzmagic
Don't think Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa is likely to get canned. |

From the first chapter it seems that this new manga is pretty good, btw magico will be cancelled |

I think Magico might be the safest out of the 3, because it doubles as a battle manga and has a more expansive universe that can be explored. Of course I'm also biased so I hope it does survive if it comes down to it. |
I read the first chapter...the story introduction is good..i like it..
Well..look for this! |
Oh damn I'm late!? I've read the one-shot long ago but I forgot what the title was when I see this thread 2-3 days ago :heh:
Can't wait for the next chapter :D |
chap 2 is out, again it uses the material from the oneshot and properly introduces the right hand guys from each organization.
Spoiler:
|
2nd chapter was better than the first.
|
Yes Okashira, the beginning, they used from the O-S.
|
I wonder how he's going to explain the situation to the girl holding the key. He should just tell her the truth, but we all know how that will go.
|
That Claude is going to be annoying :uhoh:
|
Spoiler for 3:
|
Spoiler:
|
well typical 1st date scenario XD
|
There's so much tsun from the main couple.
|
Oh God, the whole "Guy saves tsundere from guys hitting on her" scenario.
|
I think the stun needs to be toned down a little.
|
The main hero wants to see a cute film that makes cry and calls the girl a b***. That's so dissonant in terms of character build-up. Anyway, I don't like vulgarity.
It was actually interesting to see the differences between the first chapter and the oneshot. The author has added the right ingredients to make a long series and he has polished so much the first chapter to be perfect. Everything was cleaned, fast-paced and gorgeous. But while it is well executed, the topic itself does not thrill me. For a few years now there has been only one romantic comedy in Jump, if they continue that, it is hard to tell for me which one between Kagami and Nisekoi will be dropped. PS: What's the cross in his hair? |

isn't this manga always say bad words?
|
The two are heirs to yakuza clans. I wouldn't be surprised if they did use foul language all the time.
However, what bothers me is the excessive amount of tsun with the main couple. It's not just the girl. |
I'm not really sold on this. Really cliche, a lead girl who's completely unlikable, way too much yelling at each other in every panel, a nice girl with no personality who's basically there to get hurt at the end, etc. Very few people can do tsundere right... sadly, I don't think this mangaka has the ability.
A lot of authors don't understand that what a character like Naru great was that she was only tsundere at certain times-- like when Kentaro did something perverted (even accidentally) or really cool. The rest of the time, she was a normal person. All these new age tsunderes are basically just one dimensional archetypes who have no personality outside of the tsundere type. They don't know how to turn it off... and it's made worse when most of them are tsun 90% of the time with very little dere to counterbalance it. |
but i think chitoge(?) is yandere right?
|
@KLGChaos
The main girl is not a tsundere. |
misunderstandings lead after another anyways this is pretty interesting love triangle for now :heh:
