Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku
This's still not a news, but confirmed:
Higurashi will get a new anime! Quote:
The information from the people who went to the fan meeting tonight (Dec 15th): Higurashi Outbreak will be animated. Edit: Quote:
I knew it last year when got the album, but... this's really a shock. Updates: The news is out: Mantan-Web - AnimeNewsNetwork Displayed in 2013 spring season. And it will be a movie, not OVA. The new series tittle: 「ひぐらしのなく頃に 拡」 アウトブレイク Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku - Outbreak |
OMG I was dead sure they stopped.
Oh god please make something good. |
As long as it isn't like Kira's fanservice episodes (the MionxKeiichi one and the last one were good, though) I'm happy.
|
Maybe you should post it in the upcomming anime section of animesukie, so we can talk about it since our forum clearly lacks even a basic general higurashi discussion thread.
I do not think I read outbreak, but I was hoping they add Natsumi kimiyoshi soon, there enough material of her stories to make an anime. |
I'd watch the heck out of a Onisarashi-hen and related arcs OVA.
|
I haven't read Outbreak too.
According to the news, the story is still at Hinamizawa 1983. But the village is sealed off by a mysterious virus, Keiichi and Rena fight againts it... (Kei-Rena again...) Edit: I got wrong. Fixed |
I checked another site and they say the name of the OVA(?) series is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku?
|
So it should at least keep the quality of Kira for the animation.
|
I hope they keep Kira's character designer for this or bring back Sakai Kyuuta. (Or someone even better?)
|
Rei had the best character design. Kira is decent, but their hands and feet are too small. Rei character design + Kira animation quality = WIN.

So, "Hiro" is kun-yomi (seems wrong) and "Kaku" is on-yomi. <<Reading Outbreak...>> Edit: Looking at the twitter image on that site. It seems this anime will be a movie, not OVA. |

I have my theories on how an animated film of Higurashi would be possible, or dare I even say feasible, but I'll hold my tongue (and uh....fingers) until there is more information. |
There were live action films, so animated ones might be possible.
|
I personnally hope they will just do something less pandering, thus the design used for Kai/Nekogoroshi.
Frankly, proportions and texture went downhill starting in Rei, and Kira was quite subpar in design and animation, with a gross focus on fanservice. That said, I wish they could simply let the franchise alone. The way how they are milking it is beyond silly. |

I wish they would do like Hellsing, OAV remakes of the original arcs, but in great quality and who respect the story.

*Imagines Garden of Sinner's/Umineko's animation team on a Higurashi remake* Too bad imagining is the closest we'll ever get to that. |
There is good stories out there. If continuing higurashi, they should continue with the horrific stories rather then the fanservice ones.

A movie of 2 hours could be great for the three first arcs, so it would mean 6 ep instead of the 4 of the anime. And I don't think it would be Deen who would do it if it's not an Anime. Or at least, I hope.

I specifically say "OVA" to distance the franchise from the live-action movies, since the story ended up being chopped, muddled, limited to 1 question/answer arc, and vastly reworking scenes. The meaning of it all got left on the cutting room floor, and that's just inexcusable, especially when the arc episodes themselves could basically just be strung together. But I digress. The story and pacing still needs tweaking from the original works, but then again, that's the easy part. You'd still need a competent and dedicated director, proper voice acting talent, an outstanding animation unit, and an inspired sound department. That's a rare breed these days. Even Another couldn't quite get the formula right. That's why (sadly), we may need to just be satisfied with what we have. We don't need DEEN being DEEN and dragging the franchise down for the sake of more views. |

I second that hype. My God, now I just can't wait.
|
Oh gosh, your summary makes me really excited for this.
|
Same, look way more interesting than just a gag story.
|
Still not intrested enough to be hyped :P
|
Just looked carefully that manga note, on those small texts...
「誰も結末を知ることがなかった」のシナリオがついに完結!! Seems like, the movie's last part won't like the novel's... It will continue, and more images for Keiichi & Rena's fight? Can't wait! |
Damn. It seems like a lack of Rika. :P
|
Sorry, I don't want to read the summary because I'm very afraid of spoilers. Can just somebody tell me if the story is rather humorous oder serious, or both, and what the proportions of humorous and serious (horror, mystery) elements are? That would be great.
|
According to the summary, completly serious. Humorous segments aren't mentioned in it.
|
Thanks, I think that would be exactly what most Higurashi fans wish for.
|
For me, the anime was pretty much over after Kai. But I might give this one a shot.
|
I wish they did Umineko Chiru Anime instead.
|
- Not enough selling
- You want the same quality as the first season ? no thanks, at least like this peoples have to read the VN. |
Even better: stop milking Higurashi and animate Higanbana.

I'd like to see Tsubasa animated,
as short stories, they should be easier to faithfully adapt. The Umineko anime was alright for the first few episodes, but the flaws became way too grating with time to keep me watching all the way through. |
Tsubasa would be great as a OVA series with direct-to-DVD/BD release.
|
I don't see any reason for Tsubasa too get animated, Without chiru, what purpose does it have. Plus all the stories in tsubasa are almost comical, nothing serious , except like two or three. They are silly. Anyway Sorry for Starting Umineko topic in Higu topic , I tend to get offtopic ..:P
