It's been a while since we've had an announcement that really excites me, but this will do. |
I suddenly have dem feels with this for some damn reason even though I know absolutely nothing about it.
Must investigate more. |
Seems like this could be either a slice-of-life or romance anime. I hope its the latter.

Or maybe I has a misconception about PAW romance and what it needs its a different writer that isn't Okada(Evergreen team is a good example) or a director(like Nagai) that can deal with Okada(and not someone like Toshiya Shinohara), of course that's assuming she will work in this new series cuz I heard she is working for JC Staff new series, right? |
The premise is original. I hope it's slice of life.
|
Phh. NagiAsu haters could hate as much as they want. It won't make this great anime worser.
And as for the announce: I'm all in for any new PAW animes. Especially original ones. |
Looks great. I'm looking forward to this. Love PA Works
|
"On the other side of the glass, you can see tomorrow."
Can I wish this show to be a SOL+Magical show where MC can use the glass to see an event in the future? |
I'm taking a guess this girl will come across a glass art workshop where all these glass sculptures come to life kind of like in the movie "Night at the museum"
|
I for one hope there's nothing supernatural about it.

I'm with Pocary Sweet on this one: if this is the Tari Tari team I'm completely onboard. P.A.Works can do some rather amusing shows even if they are rather hit and miss for me.
|
Glass smiths as a main theme? That's new for me when it comes to anime. Will keep tabs on this.
|
This'll be interesting. I haven't really gotten into a SOL since Hanasaku (and before that, Aria), but it's always nice to find a good one.
|
Hooray for another P.A. Works original anime! It looks absolutely gorgeous! \^_^/
|
Now this is good news indeed - a summer series to really look forward to!
Hope they do it well.... |
Well its going to be interesting how there going to do the whole glass thing

I guess this series is a slice of life with a mix of fantasy? |
That is some really obvious wordplay they've got going on with the main character's name, haha. "Deep-water transparent girl"? You don't say.
That aside, that is some pretty great promo artwork. I'll keep an eye on this one. |
It will most likely, based on past history, be a coming of age character drama with glassmaking as a theme but not the focal point of the series. Now the question is who's on the production staff. My bet is that Sekiguchi Kaname is on character design and that Mari Okada is not the series composer. She's already busy with other series and I have yet to see two back to back PAW series with her onboard - except for True Tears and Canaan. No idea for director though. Seems to be weak point for PAW shows in that they never seem to have big gun directors.
I'm hoping it's 1 cour because 2 cour PA series tend to have this dragging-on problem, and that romance isn't a focal point since anime romance sucks 90% of the time. |
Is glasslip = glass + lip, or glass + slip? :)
I'm onboard for any P.A. Works original. Looking forward for this. |

Premise sound realy good. I don't realy care whether it will be romance or SoF as long as it will done right and it doesn't go with Okada-sque angst fest (regardless whether she would be actualy involved or not).
|
Imagine if it was set in the same world as NagiAsu. One episode they just show a Sea Dweller just pop out. Maybe even be a character.
|
I expect really shiny stuff. I mean just look at it. Sparkling glass and PA! Hopefully they won't abuse lens flare effects or something.
I believe this is their 2nd original work without Okada at the helm, which does raise some concerns although Tari Tari was quite nice. |

That said I hope Kanami Sekiguchi returns as chief animation director, it's gonna be two years since Tari Tari. (she worked on episodes and small projects, but not on full shows) |

First PV is out and its already making the wait harder. Looks like it could be a romance anime after all. |
It's certainly a beautiful first PV. I wish that it had some actual glass in it though :heh: My eyes are hungry for scenery porn!
|
Not really getting a romance vibe, though I could be wrong. I hope romance isn't a major factor though because the number of romance anime or animes with significant romance elements to them that I like are very numbered.
Pretty decent PV. Although it didn't have anything outstanding per se but I'll sure there's more to come. IIRC PA Works usually releases 3 PVs and a bunch of CMs so I'm sure future ones will have "glass" in them. But for now, I really like the melancholic, sombre atmosphere it portrayed compared stinky sappy melodrama that NagiAsu did for their PVs. Also, I must congratulate PA Works for not using that samestyle character designs (or the demented Buriki designs they did for Nagi) they have been using since Hanasaku Iroha. It actually looks somewhat different and I am pleased. Also I really like the main girl's voice, it's not the typical squeeky anime girl voice as it sounds somewhat natural and elegant. And she looks beautiful more than cute/moe with long hair which is a plus in my books :D. Also the credits... I saw both Choucho and nano.ripe. So they decide to get both one of the best and one of the worst vocalists in the same anime. :heh: |
Nishimura Junji and Satou Rika (Tari Tari) on series composition.

Satou Junichi + Kyoani is right up my alley to be honest, but, as you said Enzo, not a lot concrete to go off of yet. Aminterested to here more about the story at the moment....
Nothing wrong with being hopeful, I guess, eh? ^^ |

It's a nice PV but it looks like a common recent PA works series (Uchouten Kazoku excluded). I wish they introduced the glass and eyecandy visuals or made use of special angle lens shots. Something more like the key visuals used for this series. However I know it's only the 1st PV but I think it'd have been more relevant to introduce the glass earlier. |
I will note that if the series does not use the glass theme to a significant amount, I will be dissappointed. However, I have faith as PA have never done a pure "cute girls doing cute series" before nor do they resort heavily to juvenile comedy antics. PA Works ain't Kyoto Animation in that regard. Except in Hanasaku Iroha, due to a certain writer. But since that writer is not involved in this series whatsoever I'm expecting a Tari Tari like atmosphere in the format of a coming of age drama with a glassmaking theme. May or may not have romance on the side, but my gut feeling is that romance will be at best a minor element.
