A new TV anime was announced a few months ago, but apparently we were late in creating the thread.

Thanks to the discussion in the LN thread it made me thinking, What if the new DxD anime continues its story from BorN instead of reverting to the main timeline.

Dragon Magazine July 2015 confirmed that the next phase of the anime would be volume 9/10 I believe.

That was 2 years ago though. Well the source of me bringing up this topic is because of the discussion in EX thread in the LN section and the upcoming anime being called a "new anime" instead of Season 4. Don't take it too seriously, though it could be shocking if the anime remove Le Fay from its plot.

I reckon they will either continue exactly like in the light novels as if BorN never happened or they will bridge BorN to the new season so anime only watchers won't get confused. Either way is fine for me as long as volumes 9 and 10 are adapted well. If this new series/season isn't volumes 9 and 10 then it could spell the end of the DxD anime. Hopefully that isn't the case.

I also hope that The Fun Gremory Family short story in volume 8 gets adapted into an OVA and is aired just before season 4's release.

I heard rumors it was going to be an original story.

There are various rumours going about. Rumours about how a new studio is taking over DxD, people going nuts because 'new series' was mentioned instead of new season. I've also heard the reverse of these rumours such as TNK are making the next season, leaks from people working on it on twitter etc etc. I'm waiting for something more concrete to be revealed before I draw any conclusions.

I'm going to laugh hysterically if everyone hoping for a retcon don't get what they want. They'll probably just continue from where BorN left off.

They will. TNK fucked up in s1 and said there were only 3 pillars remaining. They don't care as long as the series makes money.

I don't remember TNK saying there were only 3 pillars remaining, you sure that's not you mistaking the lousy sub in Season 1.

The anime only has Gremory, Sitri and Phenex as the 3 pillars that survived the great war. It's mentioned in the training episode in the first season. Personally it doesn't bother me as it's a anime show made to entertain. The books can give me everything else.

I just watched that episode and it wasn't mention at all that the Gremory, Sitri and Phenex are the last remaining pillar. Rias just said most of the 72 Pillars died out and Gremory, Sitri and Phenex are among the surviving pillars.

The sub for the first anime was lousy, i still remember there were many complains about the lousy subbing.

I watch FFFansubs version as I don't want to watch Funimation's sub's ever since they messed with names of the characters.

Someone probably misunderstood DX4 and Season 4 since DX4 is schedule to be out on July.

Cao Cao confirmed lol. Nice. And that spar between Sairaorg vs Ise is shown in the PV. But animation so different.

Mamoru Miyano or Sugita for Cao Cao!!!!

If it's one of those two then I prefer Miyano lol.

Confirmed that new anime will be about v9 and v10. Studio is Passione.

Characters look less attractive compared to TNK. Not liking this one bit. Action seems decent though.

The animation is definitely nice, looks more fluid and lively, specially that Ise vs Sairaorg bit, it actually feels like watching a movie rather than an anime

Tho those designs are gonna get hard to get used to, rather than reminding me of the LN illustrations, they are more like the manga art, probably best to wait for another PV

The art/character designs actually looks pretty good to me.

Hopefully they stay faithful to the LN this time, as much as possible...

I was expecting a 2-Cour anime since this new Studio seems to not in fond of sequel judging by Rokka no Yuusha (inb4 wheres season 2). But yeah hope they stay faithful the original source, I don't want another BoRN again.

After the fiasco that arose around BorN, Ishibumi said they'd be more faithful to the novel from then on. That may actually have something to do with the new style, which is much closer to the LN illustrations than before.

I don't see how the new anime is closer to the LN illustration. Just compare one of the illustration and a screen shot of the new anime, you'll notice the contrast immediately.

Happy to see news about a new season! Have mixed feelings about the change in studios and animation though. Of course can’t blame them for finding a new studio after what TNK did

Volume 10. You may have forgotten volume 8 is the short story volume that's already mostly been covered.

Everything in the PV was from vol 9. After BorN getting my hopes up seems foolish.

Ishibumi already confirmed on Twitter it's vol 9 and 10 being adapted.

I personally much prefer the past season’s animation. The new one looked like a step back, similar to Digimon adventure tri’s animation compared to the original two, in terms of character drawings. Just my opinion, though
