I mean it's only just the first chapter, we can't fully conclude the relationship dynamic between the two just yet. That been said, I'm interested, yet also worried because this is the same author behind fire punch.

I looked at some of Fujimoto's previous works.

I expect this manga will follow the same "weird and gruesome" abstract story structure of his last titles.

The issue now is whether WSJ's mainstream readers will accept this story, or if it'll face cancellation.
It's pretty dark, but then again Jujutsu Kaisen and Promised Neverland are pretty famous despite their darkness.

(PS. Fujimoto's stories read more like titles from a non-mainstream seinen magazine.)

I think Jump's editors are trying to capitalize on the popularity of recent dark-themed titles that gained reader popularity, like Jujutsu Kaisen.

Then they shouldn't of cancel Iron Knight and Red Sprites.

Those titles got cancelled because the Japanese Jump readers didn't vote for them in the weekly popular titles vote.

Jump policy is that no matter how promising the manga is, if it fails reader popularity then it'll be cancelled.

If there is anything about this mangaka you cant judge, than it is his works plot after just the first chapter. Read Fire Punch.

Isn't 25k okaish for first volume sale of a new manga? Others got like less then 10k and survived for quite some time.

What worries me about this manga is the fact that it isn't exactly your typical shounen. I'm worried that readers won't see its appeal and because of that, it'll fall out of favour with them, which may unfortunately result in an axing.

For example, while Denji is an idiot, which is typical for a shounen protagonist, by the same token, he's only an idiot because he was denied the opportunity to to go to school. Therefore, he's already different from the traditional idiot MC because there's a legitimate reason given for why he's an idiot. Also, looking at the newest chapter (15), due to their current predicament, normally, your typical shounen protagonist wouldn't be as calm and composed as Denji is. The dude said "screw it!" and decided to take a nap. lol

Another thing I noticed is that Denji can potentially build his own little harem. Considering that this isn't a romcom, this is also atypical for a battle shounen. Maybe if it was isekai, the potential harem would make more sense. We can defo count Makima and Power, but I can also see Kobeni joining at some point after working out her fear/confidence issues. Why? Because we all know that Denji's gonna eventually save her from some life or death situation and he's going to directly or indirectly cure those issues of hers. Either that or I'm overthinking it. Granted, this story is serialized long enough for that prediction of mine to come to pass or not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

^I actually never finished that, so I can't really comment on it. I'm not going off my experience with his previous works, what I'm going off is mostly intuition. Will my predictions come to pass? Whether that's the case or not is half the fun.

^For a sec there, I thought that was an April Fools' prank, but it actually turned out to be a part of the chapter. XD It was so out of place that I honestly thought it was something a translator threw in for the lolz.

This guy... rip and tear for three days non-stop, drinking the rat blood of his enemy to recover his broken body over and over again till the devil finally snaps and begs for death, offering his own heart to Denji so that this pain finally stops. And that crazy mofo asks "that's it`?" And "I WANT MORE!!!". Dude's totally mental! I love it! He so deserves that kiss for that attrition battle. <3

The kiss? Sure. The Nobel Prize? I'm going to say no.

Maybe Power is going to get the Nobel prize. xD

Yup, this has definitely become my favourite of the new series in WSJ. Didn't know Denji was so young tho. Honestly thought he was somewhere around 18-20.

Yeah, 16 is young. Loved him being torn between his desires at the end. xD
I do hope he gets his kiss though.^^

From the way the story and character relationships are developing, this may have some harem potential tbh. Then again, it doesn't necessarily need to go that route and even if it does, we all know that Makima's gonna get the W anyway. Not that I have a problem with that.

I say that it has harem potential because we can already kinda infer that it's most likely going to become a recurring theme where Denji requests various rewards from his female coworkers or the girls may propose the rewards themselves.

That panelling is genius! The author really has a knack for that - natural reactions, timing. Haven’t had much fun with Jump mangas since...

I thought that manga would be canceled after 10 chapters, but apparently the Japanese liked it a lot, first and second volumes are selling a lot.

Bruh!!! I can't unsee that!!! Damn, I've seen a lot of fucked up shit in many different manga, but this one is the first to gross me out in quite a long time...

So his first time touching boobies was pads, huge let down, and now his first time kissing was getting puked into your mouth and swallowing it?! Gross, gross, gross!!! XDDD
This I am worried about Denji's first sex time. Like what the hell could go wrong there when touching boobies and getting kissed went wrong so badly?^^

@James Rye: I'm not convinced that he's gonna get some action this early in the serialization. That's a raward that he'll get much later tbh. He's either gonna chicken out saying that he wants to do it with Makima (which is kinda OOC for him since he's the kinda guy that jumps at these chances) or Himeno is going to pass out right before they do the deed. XD (this is the more likely scenario to play out)

Then again, I could be completely off and things go exactly the way they appear.

Man, he didn't even had sex and it still resulted in the worst possible cliff hangar - Makina getting assassinated. I wonder if she is really dead or got some immortality or revive ability due a contract with a devil.

That was way too uneventful and easy. I highly doubt that she's actually dead.

She probably has a contract with a really hax devil that would prevent her from dying. However, I can't even begin to imagine the price she'll have to pay for having access to an ability that prevents or undoes death.

Probably the ability to have children on her own. You know, creating and nurturing life.
